Chapter 593: Legendary Spell - Meteorfall (Part 2)

Jifan quietly glanced at the Lord still entangled with the Diamond Golem and chose to continue enduring.

The Ail Elves defensive line was under immense pressure, constantly assaulted by waves of Cole Elf warriors.

More and more Ail Elves warriors were injured, falling, being carried off on stretchers for treatment.

Their maintained line slowly pushed backward.

More space on the wall was steadily yielded to the Cole Elf warriors.

The fiercely attacking Cole Elves broke through the defense but at a steep cost.

For every Ail Elves warrior they brought down, they paid the price of five Cole Elf lives.

As they took more of the wall, the inner walls and towers of the fortress rained bolts upon their clustered formations, increasing casualties.

Many Cole Elves were killed by bolts before even clashing with the enemy.

Realizing this couldn't go on, the Cole Elf commander ordered other halted elite units—

Push harder, apply more force!

Break the Ail Elves line in one surge!

Proud Cole Elves preferred dying in a charge over falling in shame—they stormed the enemy line.

The Ail Elves warriors continued their slow withdrawal, abandoning the western wall.

Only the area where Matthew battled the Diamond Golem remained in their hands.

Dodging a heavy blow, Matthew smiled as data about seven or eight magical materials and processes flowed into his mind.

He looked a mess.

His heavy Thunder Magic Armor, worth nearly 3 million gold, couldn't withstand the Diamond Golem's punches, which cost tens of millions.

Cracks appeared on the gauntlets, and splits formed on his chest and shoulder plates.

Once-glowing Thunder Armor now dimmed.

It seemed on the verge of total destruction.

After taking so many direct hits, even Matthew sustained some injuries.

Fortunately, his recovery was outstanding—after a few rounds of defense, he was fully restored.

Luckily, the Diamond Golem didn't tire or fear.

It kept up its pressure and destruction despite Matthew's defense and strength.

In return for the damage, Matthew gained nearly all intel on the Diamond Golem.

The Diamond Golem wasn't just strong—it was the culmination of much Cole Elf technology.

For most, survival against its attacks was the goal.

But for Matthew, its materials, components, and energy core technology were the real treasure.

With this knowledge, Bay Territory's manufacturing could level up.

The upgraded Dragoon Golem No.1.

Armor plating for Ironclad Magic Warships.

Reinforced combat puppet parts.

Countless items and production lines would benefit.

That's why Matthew, knowing he couldn't win, still fought it.

With this understanding, his gaze at the Golem changed from grim to joyful.

"Treasure" no longer sufficed—the Diamond Golem was a massive contributor to Bay Territory's progress!

Big thumbs up!

But what Matthew now wanted was part of its body—

To further "study" and understand it.

With that in mind, he stopped just taking hits and instead drew his ghost blade.

The Diamond Golem, noticing this, did not charge but watched the weapon warily.

It didn't know what it was—

But sensed it posed real danger.

After a brief "thought," it began to retreat, returning to the Cole army.

The Cole Elves, seeing a battered Matthew, were emboldened and resumed their assault.

Matthew didn't rush after the Golem to gather more intel.

Instead, he carefully began to regroup.

"What? You've already taken down over 400 of Bay Territory's special warriors?"

"They shouldn't number that many—how are there still 300+ on the field?"

"Could they have some way to regenerate HP and recover?"

Veteran Tigris nearly guessed the truth.

Still, he grew cautious.

He ordered the combat mages to verify life signs, faces, and forms.

This time, thanks to the wall's capture, the Elven mages completed the task and returned with startling news—

"Detected aura of a regeneration field..."

"Detected heavy use of potions and elixirs..."

"Spotted repeat appearances of the same Ail Elves warriors—up to three times..."

"Detected a massive teleportation array inside Icewind Fortress charging rapidly..."

"..."

These reports confirmed Tigris's fears.

He didn't know how Bay Territory managed it—

How their wounded healed and returned so fast.

But it explained why, despite over 50,000 casualties—

30,000 Ail Elves warriors still fought.

He didn't know the cost Bay Territory paid to reach this state—

But the casters' info showed a terrifying truth:

"Bay Territory has been stalling—until the Elves grow stronger..."

"Until the Cole elites suffer more losses..."

"Until the super teleport array finishes charging to bring another wave of reinforcements!"

Tigris, realizing this, looked at the crimson moon setting in the distance.

And in the east, rays of sunlight began piercing the dawn.

Regaining composure, Tigris responded decisively.

After so many losses and sacrifices—

They had to win this battle and seize Icewind Fortress.

Even if it was a bitter victory!

"No matter what—we cannot lose!"

With reddened eyes, he growled and deployed his final trump card.

Matthew, while recovering, kept a close eye on the Golem.

At any sign of movement, he'd engage.

Just acquiring a portion of its body—

Would let Bay Territory's labs reverse engineer vital tech.

But then a voice broke his "fantasy":

"Do you feel it? A legendary plant's life force is rapidly growing in the war fog..."

"It's... terrifying. It's feeding on Cole Elf corpses..."

"It's growing too fast. Its mind is fading—it's becoming a war machine..."

Quan Quan's eyes were full of sorrow as she looked toward the fog.

Mourning the tragic fate of a legendary kin.

She sensed it had been horribly tortured by the Cole Elves.

Its body and mind might collapse at any moment.

She couldn't help but feel grateful—

Grateful she had sprouted in Bay Territory, under Matthew's care—not doomed like this kin.

Hearing her, Matthew instantly realized:

The Cole Elves were making another big move!

But the distance was too great—even enhanced data couldn't detect it.

From Quan Quan's words, he deduced it was likely a legendary Treant.

How terrifying was a legendary Treant?

Just consider the peak Extraordinary baby elephant sleeping in the Underworld—

Its bodyguards could easily slaughter Extraordinary magical creatures.

All gains were handed to Bay Territory for processing in exchange for better resources.

Well-fed and rested, the elephant had reached peak Extraordinary.

But it was still far from becoming Legendary!

That the Cole Elves had tech to rapidly create Legendary combatants—

Made Matthew jealous.

He began to fantasize:

If Bay Territory had that tech...

They could excavate dangerous ruins, ancient battlefields, terrifying demi-planes.

But Matthew quickly abandoned the fantasy.

Because Yaya, long hidden, suddenly appeared beside him and said:

"Annie is hurt and calling for you..."

"I'll handle this big guy—the enemy won't act quickly."

Shocked, Matthew rushed to the hidden infirmary.

He quickly arrived at Annie's side.

The Silverleaf heiress was being treated by Bay Territory's healers.

He had learned she was ambushed by a peak Extraordinary Elven ranger.

A deadly poisoned arrow pierced her chest.

Luckily, a modified Elven warrior shielded her from follow-ups.

Otherwise, she would've died.

Though she survived, she was in terrible shape.

Pale as paper, eyes unfocused, on the verge of unconsciousness—obviously from blood loss.

Sensing Matthew's arrival, Annie forced her eyes open.

After hearing the battlefield update—

She smiled faintly.

As if tempered by death, Annie had matured.

She handed Matthew a scroll with a dark aura and whispered:

"This is my family's last trump card..."

"If it doesn't work to drive off the Cole Elves..."

"Then please, my lord, take everyone and retreat."

"Like you said—only by surviving can we have a future."

As she spoke, she winced from pain, which made even Matthew ache watching.

Annie endured, coughed lightly, wiped the blood from her lips, and stared at Matthew, awaiting his answer.

Seeing her resolve, Matthew softly replied with confidence:

"Don't worry. Rest up. When you wake, you'll see the familiar ceiling of Icewind Fortress."

With that, he took the scroll and left.

His firm steps left Annie with the image of a tall, reliable figure.

At her limit, she finally closed her eyes and passed out.

Quan Quan at her side channeled a stream of green life energy into her.

Annie's tightly furrowed brow eased slightly.

Matthew examined the scroll, noting the unexpected dragonhide material. Spells raced through his mind.

"MD, you dare touch my people? I'll kill you all today!"

He licked his lips, unrolled the scroll.

Dense, complex incantations radiated dreadful power.

Every character pulsed with destruction.

A legendary spell.

One of extreme lethality.

A fusion of fire and earth's highest arcane achievement.

And the Silverleaf family's final answer to this war.

Not escape—decisive attack!

Matthew tore the scroll, surging mana coursing through it. Crimson clouds swirled above, dragging something down.

Though his mind ached from mana depletion, his dark eyes glimmered with satisfaction. Through clenched rage, he told his guard:

"Tell Jifan—prepare to attack!"

In the sky—

A massive meteor, wreathed in flames, plunged downward.

Tigris, seeing this, panicked and shouted:

"Counterspell it!"

That was the fire of vengeance!

That was the stubborn meteor!

That was the final requiem of the last Elven archmage of the Silverleaf family!

Meteorfall!

Made it in time…
