I ran as fast as my legs could take me.
Staying was suicide, so I barely composed myself and ran.
In the beginning, i could hear the bastard chasing me, and he shot a few times at me, but I was running in zigzags so luckily he couldn't aim properly and missed.
I took a quick glance at my bleeding left hand.
'Mostly' missed. The flashlight was sadly gone, along with two of my fingers and some of my palm. It looked very bad.
At least he didn't hit the legs i guess.
But after that, I stopped hearing him entirely. Of course I didn't stop running, i kept it on for a while then i stopped after I felt like I could no longer continue.
I sat against a tree and started checking myself. I have a mangled, bleeding hand, I am extremely tired to the point i can barely stand, I am very thirsty and i haven't encountered any source of water yet, and I am getting chased by a madman who is hellbent on killing me for some reason.
Yeah, it was not looking good.
The forest around me was quiet, with my strained breathing being the only sound that could be heard. There were no animals roaming, no birds in the trees, not even the ants that stick to you as soon as you touch a tree.
I took off the strap I wore around my neck that held the rifle while i was running (yeah there was a strap) and took off my shirt and wrapped it around my mangled hand to limit the bleeding like they do in the movies. Of course i had no idea how to actually do it and what i did probably isn't helping with anything, but at least it is calming my fear a little.
I left my uninjured fingers out the 'wrap' so that i could hold the rifle better when i had to use it.
I looked at the rifle laying on my legs. I have some experience with guns, so hopefully it wouldn't be that different.
"Hopefully..."
I looked up to the sky.
What should i do now? And also, where am i? But let's leave that question to when i don't have my life in danger.
I have a rifle, an injured hand, no flashlight, and a perfectly uninjured guy chasing me, hellbent on killing me for some unknown reason.
I have to find the exit to this forest, and if i couldn't find it, i have to kill that guy.
I sighed and slowly got up, walking as quitely as i can.
***
I spent hours walking, and i still felt i was no where near the end of this forest. What was even weirder was that everything looked exactly the same, i don't know if that is normal or not, but i find it weird. And another thing was that the guy was nowhere to be found. I haven't heard nor seen him since the beginning.
*Sigh*
"I am so ti-"
*CRUNCH*
The sound came from the right side behind me, I quickly pointed my rifle towards it.
It was a boot.
It was a trap.
I turned slightly to the left.
*BANG*
A bullet tore through my left shoulder. I let out a painful scream and fell on my back, dropping my rifle.
I looked to the left and the bastard was standing there with a wide smile on his face. He wore a full military uniform, except of course for the left boot which he had thrown to distract me.
It hurt like hell.
I put my right hand where the bullet hit and looked at it.
It was covered with blood.
Blood was pouring out.
My blood.
So close to my chest.
I am actually going to die.
*CRUNCH* *CRUNCH*
He is slowly coming towards me.
He is going to kill me.
I don't want to die.
I am scared.
So scared.
"pl-please d-don't"
The man stopped for a second.
Then burst out laughing.
His laughter sent chills down my spine.
I tried to crawl away, but with one ruined hand and the other trembling, i couldn't move.
Why me?
I felt tears dripping down my face.
He continued approaching me.
Why me?
He stopped right infront of me.
Why?why?why?
He started slowly pointing the rifle towards my head.
WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?
"YOU BASTARD!"
Fueled with desperation, I lunged at his left side with all my might.
And what a fine fuel it was.
I caught the rifle and lifted it away towards the sky with little resistance as he momentarily froze from surprise.
*BANG*
A bullet was shot into the sky from the struggle.
*CRUNCH*
We both fell on the grass with me on top of him.
The rifle fell infront of me, a little less than a metre away from his head. But i couldn't get it, as the bastard was holding both my arms.
What do i do?
What the hell do i do?
I looked at his face and noticed... he had quite a big nose.
One of the biggest i have ever seen.
Without even thinking, I lunged my head towards him and bit.
"AAARGHHHHH!"
The spit from his scream got on my face from the close proximity.
He let go of my arms and tried to push my face away. And he did push it away, but not without a big chunk of his nose going with it.
His blood flowed down from my mouth to my chin.
"I AM GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!" He shouted.
I spit his nose at his face.
One of the dirty things about me is that I don't cut my nails often. I used to accidentally injure myself as a kid with the clipper so much that i became really apprehensive towards cutting my nails, so i usually let them grow to the point that they start to really inconvenience me then i cut them.
My point is that i have long nails.
So I clawed at him with my right hand.
In my first try, I caught his face. So I left him a nasty mark across the right side of his face, along with a piece of my middle finger's nail that broke.
In the next one I caught his right arm and dug my nails into it. Then i brought his arm towards my face and bit down on it.
Sadly, during all that all that, he wasn't just sitting there and taking it like a man.
He was beating the shit out of me.
He had punched two punches. One broke my nose, the other hit me in my left eye. And i am pretty sure it's gone, as i can no longer see out of it.
And oh, it seems there is a third punch coming.
*BANG*
My vision went white.
Clarity slowly came back and it seems he was trying to get me off him.
Judging from the pain, it seems my jaw is fucked.
It seems my greatest weapon, biting, was gone.
Well, i still have one last trick up my sleeve.
*BANG*
I headbutted him.
It was an awful idea.
My entire head throbbed in pain.
But somehow my mind was still running.
While his was not.
Seizing the opportunity, I reached for the rifle and grabbed it.
I tried to point it towards him but he held the muzzle with his right hand and kept it in place, just away from his head.
It was my two hands (well one and a half) against his one, and he was starting to overpower me.
And to make matters worse, he started to reach with other hand to support.
However before he could do that, i managed to do something.
I pinned down his reaching arm with my knee, and hit the other hand with my other leg, right where i bit him.
His grip on the muzzle loosened momentarily.
And that moment was enough.
I pointed the rifle towards the centre of his forehead and pulled the trigger with my right index finger.
*BANG*
The bullet tore through his head.
But sadly, i couldn't savor the moment of his demise as it seems i greatly underestimated the recoil of the rifle.
It flew from my grasp, its stock hitting me in the forehead, in the exact place where i shot him.
The stock approaching me was the last thing i saw.
