The clearing where Kyoto's white flag fluttered was eerily quiet. Too quiet.

Noritoshi stood with his arms crossed, his bow resting against a nearby tree. His eyes scanned the surrounding forest with methodical precision. Beside him, Momo hovered on her broom a few meters above the ground, her blonde pigtails swaying gently in the morning breeze.

A short distance behind them, the third-years Ino and Nitta leaned against opposite tree trunks. Ino had pushed his ski mask up onto his forehead, revealing a relaxed smile that didn't quite reach his alert eyes. Nitta kept adjusting his glasses, his analytical gaze sweeping constantly across the area.

"This is weird, right?" Momo finally said, breaking the silence. She rotated her broom to face her teammates. "How long has it been now? Twenty minutes? Thirty? And still no sign of Tokyo."

Noritoshi didn't take his eyes off the forest. "Indeed. It's unusual."

Ino let out a short laugh, scratching the back of his head. "Maybe Todo flattened them all? That would be just our luck. We're stuck here guarding the flag while he's off having fun."

Nitta pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "That'd be too good to be true. Todo's strong, sure, but the Tokyo team has two experienced second-years. Hakari and…" He paused, frowning. "Kirara, I think. They wouldn't get taken out that easily."

Kamo nodded slowly. "Nitta's right. It's more likely they chose a different strategy."

Momo drifted down a bit, her broom leveling at eye height. "What strategy? If they're not coming for our flag, what are they doing?"

Silence fell again. Then Kamo finally turned to his teammates, his expression grave.

"It's obvious they're going after Ryosuke."

Momo blinked. "Huh? Why would they—"

"Because Ryosuke is an anomaly," Nitta cut in, his voice suddenly more serious. He crossed his arms, his sharp gaze fixed on her. "You haven't figured that out yet?"

Momo opened her mouth, then closed it, visibly rattled. "An anomaly? What does that even mean?" She looked from Noritoshi to the third-years. "He's… he's our teammate. Our school supports him, right?"

A faint, enigmatic smile curved Noritoshi's lips. "If that were true…" He paused deliberately. "Principal Gakuganji would've settled the matter the moment Tokyo arrived."

Momo's eyes widened. "You mean…"

"Exactly," Kamo confirmed. "This tournament isn't just a simple inter-school competition. It's also an execution attempt."

Ino straightened up, his smile fading into something darker. "The higher-ups are scared of whatever threat this Ryosuke poses. His existence has thrown the balance between sorcerers and curses into chaos." He sighed. "But since they're using roundabout methods, it means they don't have full approval yet. And something tells me Mister Gojo Satoru isn't on their side—hence why he's absent."

"And apparently there's a bounty," Nitta added, adjusting his glasses again. "A secret bounty on Ryosuke's head. You're wrong, Ino. They're doing this because they want to tame him. And the principal allowing it just proves they don't want him dead. At least not yet."

A chill ran down Momo's spine. "But then… Ryosuke is in danger!"

Ino looked at her, raising a brow. "Were you listening to anything we just said?"

"Of course I was, but—"

"Ryosuke is an anomaly whose abilities are assumed to be on par with Gojo Satoru's." Nitta let the words hang in the air, heavy with meaning. "Maybe not at the same level yet, but the potential is there. That's what scares—and interests—everyone."

Momo opened her mouth to protest, but the words caught in her throat.

Similar to Gojo? The Gojo Satoru?

Ino suddenly burst into laughter.

"Honestly, I already feel bad for Tokyo."

Noritoshismirked. "Indeed. If they really think they can claim that bounty…" He shook his head. "They're in for one hell of a surprise."

Several kilometers away, in a secluded clearing deep within the forest, Ryosuke sat on a moss-covered rock, one leg folded up and the other dangling lazily. His eyes were closed, his expression perfectly serene, as if he were meditating or simply enjoying the cool shade of the trees.

Then, slicing through the calm, two presences appeared.

Ryosuke slowly opened his eyes.

"You found me pretty quickly."

At the edge of the clearing, two figures materialized. Hakari Kinji walked in front, hands in his pockets, his usual carnivorous grin stretching across his face. His blond hair was slightly tousled, and his eyes gleamed with a predatory spark.

Behind him, Kirara Hoshi followed with measured steps, hands clasped in front of their androgynous face. The star-like glimmers in their hair caught the sunlight filtering through the leaves.

Hakari stopped about ten meters from Ryosuke, his grin widening.

"I'm a good hunter." He tilted his head slightly. "Especially when the prey's got a juicy bounty on it."

Ryosuke didn't move from his relaxed position. Only his eyes tracked Hakari's movements—attentive, calculating.

"My intentions aren't bad. Mister Gojo must've told those old men already. And you two know that, don't you?"

Hakari burst out laughing. "Oh, I couldn't care less about your intentions!" He pulled one hand from his pocket to point at Ryosuke. "Good, bad—doesn't matter to me. I just want the cash they offered."

Kirara sighed softly. "Hakari, you really are…"

"Pragmatic?" Hakari turned briefly to his partner, shrugging. "Yeah, I know. That's what makes me irresistible."

Ryosuke watched them, a flicker of amusement crossing his eyes. Then he rose slowly, brushing off his uniform with a casual swipe. He rolled his shoulders, joints popping.

"I see." A small smile touched his lips. "Well then…"

He spread his arms slightly, almost welcoming.

"Come on, then."
