Chapter 728: The Evil Clan Beyond the Realm, The Corpse Recovered

Whoosh!

Mo Yu's body turned into a streak of radiant light as he shot through the skies. After a dozen minutes or so, he gradually slowed, his gaze fixing firmly on the scene before him.

The first thing he saw was a massive mountain, ten thousand feet tall, standing like a giant between heaven and earth. Even after countless ages, its grandeur remained completely undiminished.

Boom, boom!

At the mountain's end, a vast, silver waterfall, a thousand feet across, roared downward, crashing into the earth with thunderous force that made the world itself tremble.

Mo Yu looked closer, and his pupils contracted slightly. The silver waterfall wasn't made of ordinary water but of thick, liquid lightning—a silver thunder slurry—its rumbling roar born from immense electric energy.

Beneath the mountain stretched a vast thunder lake, nearly ten thousand feet across, so expansive that its far end could not be seen.

"Oh… what a terrifying display of power."

Mo Yu's brows lifted slightly. He could feel the overwhelming lightning force emanating from both the waterfall and the lake. None of this had formed naturally—these wonders had been created by human hands.

To craft such a place was a feat bordering on divine creation. The strength of its creator was beyond imagination.

Mo Yu drifted closer and stopped at the lake's outskirts. He saw arcs of lightning dancing across the surface, like ferocious beasts lurking beneath, waiting to strike.

"This lake is filled with pure lightning energy—it must have been a cultivation ground," Mo Yu murmured.

"Indeed," the Feng Emperor's voice echoed in his mind. "When I first discovered this place, I knew it would perfectly preserve a corpse. The thunder's power prevents decay for millennia. So I sealed my body deep within this lake."

"Then let's retrieve it first."

With a thought, Mo Yu leapt into the thunder lake, diving swiftly downward. Immediately, he felt tendrils of lightning energy curling around him, seeping into his body from every pore, leaving his limbs slightly numb.

Even so, he could feel his muscles subtly tightening, strengthened by the lightning's tempering force. Clearly, this energy held potent refining properties.

He smiled faintly. For Sovereign‑level cultivators, this would have been an extraordinary boon—but for him, the effect was negligible.

He continued descending deeper. Visibility was poor due to the dense lightning energy, but for Mo Yu's strength, such conditions posed no problem.

After scouring the depths for only a short while, Mo Yu's spiritual senses locked onto a strange fluctuation at the lake's heart. Yet when he felt it more clearly, his brows furrowed—there was something… wrong about that aura.

Growing cautious, he approached quietly.

Bang!

Suddenly, a burst of black light erupted violently from the center of the lake. The thunderous slurry exploded outward under its impact, forming a storm vortex that roared through the depths.

The abrupt disturbance stunned Mo Yu. His eyes snapped toward the source, where torrents of black light surged out violently.

At their center, an old figure slowly emerged, surrounded by waves of sinister, suffocating energy—the oppressive aura of something straight from the abyss.

"This is… demonic energy?" Mo Yu's expression shifted. He had sensed this before—in the Heavenly Mysterious Hall. It was the power of the Evil Clan Beyond the Realm.

Black radiance frothed through the lake like a rising tide. The Feng Emperor's spectral form appeared beside Mo Yu, his eyes wide in shock.

When he finally saw the old figure within the dark light, the Feng Emperor's expression turned ashen.

"Damn it! That's my corpse—how did demonic energy from the Evil Clan beyond the Realm infect it!?" he cursed bitterly. The old figure in the darkness—was his physical body.

"So that's… Senior Feng Emperor's corpse," Mo Yu muttered, wincing slightly.

Boom!

As Mo Yu pondered, the black light shot skyward. The thunder lake erupted violently, sending up waves ten thousand feet high.

At the crest stood a dark figure, shrouded in evil mist so thick that the sky itself dimmed around him.

"What is that? Such terrifying power!"

Around the lake, explorers gathered in shock, their eyes fixed on the floating figure. Murmurs spread rapidly among them.

Then, twin black eyes flared as demonic aura surged. The figure emitted an inhuman shriek—sharp, ear‑piercing, soul‑freezing.

Swoosh!

Its body blurred forward. Dozens of afterimages lingered midair before the real figure appeared in front of several cultivators standing on the lake.

In an instant, it flickered past them.

Bang, bang, bang!

Before anyone knew it, the cultivators froze—then blood mist burst from their throats. Each corpse bore a gaping hole punched through its neck.

Black vapor rose from their wounds, crawling into their bodies, consuming flesh and blood until nothing remained but bones falling into the lake.

Ahhhh!

Screams of agony rang out, only to be abruptly cut off. Dozens of powerful Sovereigns collapsed lifeless into the thunder lake.

Hiss!

Witnessing the massacre, the surrounding onlookers sucked in sharp breaths, their faces pale with horror.

Thirty Sovereign experts—slaughtered in an instant. Even together, they could threaten a ninth‑grade Sovereign, yet this thing had annihilated them effortlessly.

It was a massacre.

Finally, everyone understood—this black‑shrouded figure possessed monstrous power far beyond imagination.

Mo Yu rose from the shattered lake, eyes narrowing. "As expected of the Feng Emperor's corpse. Even corrupted by demonic energy, its strength is terrifying."

"I never imagined storing my body here would lead to this… fortunately, we came in time. Otherwise, that demonic corpse might have wrought catastrophe," the Feng Emperor said ruefully.

"In that case, I'll suppress it first and purge the demonic energy. Only then can we restore you to life," Mo Yu said firmly.

"Then I must trouble you," the Feng Emperor replied apologetically.

"No trouble—just extra effort," Mo Yu said, waving his hand as thunder flashed within his eyes.

Around the lake, chaos erupted again as confused cultivators watched, uncertain why some had suddenly fled.

"Retreat!"

One man crashed onto the shore, screaming in terror toward those still near the lake.

Boom!

Even as he shouted, another massive wave erupted. Again, the dark, corrupted corpse rose from the crest, its evil aura thick enough to blot out the sun.

"What is that thing!?"

Fearful whispers spread again, but before panic could settle, Mo Yu shot forward, both hands forming glowing seals as he roared, "Thunder Prison Domain!"

Lightning spears shot up from the ground beneath the dark figure, forming towering pillars of thunder that linked together into glowing chains, binding him tightly within their enclosure.

Bang!

The dark figure slammed his fists against the lightning columns, but even blows capable of crushing a ninth‑grade Sovereign failed to leave a mark.

"Seal!"

The four pillars connected in a square, solidifying into a prison that locked him inside. No matter how violently he struggled, the thunder cage held firm.

Outside the prison, Mo Yu stared solemnly at the bound corpse. Demonic flames rippled across its body, making his eyelids twitch. Then he raised his hand—a flash of pure white lightning lit up his palm.

Purification energy—he wasn't sure if it would entirely dispel the corruption, but he had no better choice.

Crackle!

He directed the white lightning forward. It entwined and cascaded over the demonic corpse like a waterfall of sacred light.

At once, the black aura covering the Feng Emperor's body hissed violently. White smoke billowed as the evil energy visibly melted away.

"It's working!" Mo Yu's face brightened.

The corpse screamed shrilly as the purification burned deep, shredding the corruption within.

Boom!

Moments later, the dark markings over the corpse flashed rapidly, squirming like living worms before bursting from its body. Black light flooded out, gathering rapidly until it shattered the lightning prison and condensed into a monstrous, hundred‑foot‑tall shadowy beast.

Its body was pitch‑black, flames of darkness flickering across it. Beneath its enormous horns glowed twin eyes filled with slaughterous malice.

This creature was the condensed essence of the demonic runes themselves.

"Foolish human!"

The giant shadow's voice rumbled with rage as its eyes locked onto Mo Yu midair. Murderous aura exploded outward.

Boom!

Flames of black energy twisted into a burning spear and shot through the air like lightning, aimed straight for Mo Yu.

"Perfect!"

Mo Yu's lips curled in a cold smile. The demonic patterns had abandoned the corpse's body—exactly what he wanted.

Left inside, they were troublesome to purge. Out here, they could be annihilated completely.

"To root out evil, you must destroy it utterly—no half‑measures," Mo Yu muttered.

"Divine Thunder Emperor's Hand—Annihilate!"

He clasped his hands together. A terrifying surge of thunder erupted from within him, coalescing into a colossal hand of lightning that roared downward, meeting the demonic spear head‑on.

Boom, boom, boom!

The thunderclap exploded through heaven and earth as the massive lightning hand crushed the demonic spear and slammed into the shadow beast's body.

Thunder burst over its surface in chained explosions, stripping away layers of dark energy as the creature shrieked in agony.

Roar! Roar!

Its once overbearing presence faltered, fear flashing through its eyes—it had underestimated this mortal.

"Damn you, creature of the outer darkness—die!"

A cold voice sounded behind it. The beast turned just in time to see a blade of pure lightning slash across its body.

A final, despairing scream tore through the air as the monstrous form erupted in thick black smoke—and then vanished entirely, consumed by the thunder's power.

Mo Yu exhaled faintly, watching the last traces of demonic energy evaporate. Then his gaze turned toward the floating corpse.

The dark markings and evil aura were gone, revealing beneath them an elegant, aged face—serene and noble.

"So this is the true appearance of Senior Feng Emperor…" Mo Yu murmured. As powerful new auras began converging rapidly from afar, he immediately sealed the body and vanished into the distance.

Now came the next task—bringing the Feng Emperor back to life.
