Chapter 727: The True Secret Treasure
"Kill!"
Inside the Feng Emperor's cave mansion, as the storms flashed and raged, furious roars echoed continuously.
Vast spiritual power burst forth like a tidal wave. On that instant, armies of several top factions from the Bloodrock Realm surged forward, their most fearsome killing techniques unleashed in tandem like countless blades, tearing violently into the ranks of the storm army ahead.
Howling winds roared like thunder through the domain as the storm army clashed against the invading forces in a fierce, chaotic battle.
"Go."
Seeing this, Mo Yu's figure flickered as he sped forward, diving into a torn gap within the storm army's formation. To reach the deeper parts of the cave mansion, one first had to break through this battlefield of gales.
As he charged in, the storm winds howled wildly around him. Glimmers of light darted before his eyes—figures wielding spears forged of condensed wind energy. They were wreathed in stormlight, their forms indistinct, yet each exuded terrifying, violent power.
Bang!
Mo Yu's expression remained calm. He thrust out a fist, and several of the light‑formed figures exploded instantly.
These storm figures were tricky opponents; even a sixth‑ or seventh‑grade Sovereign would have difficulty handling them. But Mo Yu, being an Earth Sovereign, could wipe out swathes of them with a single motion.
"Mo Yu, to your right—that's where the entrance is," the Feng Emperor's voice instructed within his mind.
Mo Yu's eyes brightened. Glancing to the right, he saw deep within the storm army a faint endpoint, where a green, rotating halo shimmered—it was the true entrance to the cave's inner sanctum.
"Go!"
His body blurred into motion, streaking toward the glowing portal.
"Hmph, step back."
Just as he was about to dive into the green light, a cold snort came from the side. The sound of air splitting filled his ears as a sharp, powerful gust of wind lashed toward his back without mercy.
"Courting death!"
Mo Yu turned sharply, his eyes flaring cold as he spotted members of the Asura Gate. His hand clenched—lightning burst from his palm like a storming sea—and then he swung his fist.
Boom!
The air compressed and detonated violently as an arc of lightning shot forward, colliding head‑on with the incoming gale.
Bang!
The muffled explosion echoed across the cave. The fierce shockwave blasted the Asura Gate commander and his forces backward in an instant.
"Pfft!"
The ninth‑grade Sovereign in heavy Asura armor staggered back several hundred feet before spitting blood, horror in his eyes. "An… Earth Sovereign!?"
His words caused an uproar. All eyes turned in disbelief toward the silver‑eyed youth.
"An Earth Sovereign!"
Although rumors said many Earth Sovereigns had come for the Feng Emperor's treasure, Mo Yu was the first to reveal his true power—and none recognized him.
"Who are you, sir? Why attack members of my Asura Gate!" The wounded Sovereign wiped the blood from his lips and spoke gravely.
An Earth Sovereign was a powerhouse of the Great Thousand World. Even the formidable Asura Gate needed to show respect before one.
"It seems you attacked first," Mo Yu said coldly. "Do you always play the victim after striking first? Or is shamelessness simply your gate's custom?"
"You—!"
The Asura Sovereign's face flushed red, but before he could retort, the space beside him rippled—and a man appeared.
He was a middle‑aged man in black robes, his bearing refined and scholarly. No spiritual fluctuation surrounded him, but Mo Yu instantly sensed a faint yet deadly danger.
This man was also an Earth Sovereign.
"It's the Master of Asura Gate—Zhong Cang!"
"Zhong Cang himself? I can't believe such a powerful figure has shown up. This Feng Emperor's treasure truly isn't ordinary."
Gasps spread through the crowd. The reclusive Earth Sovereign had appeared once again. Compared to Mo Yu, Zhong Cang was far better known—both feared and respected throughout the entire northern region.
"Master, you're here!" the previously injured Asura commander said joyfully, bowing low.
The black‑robed man nodded slightly, narrowing his eyes at Mo Yu. After scanning him for a moment, he spoke calmly, "I am familiar with the Earth Sovereigns of this realm and nearby territories. May I ask, sir, your name, your origin, and what faction you represent?"
Mo Yu's expression was neutral. "My name is Mo Yu. I belong to no faction. I was wandering the Great Thousand World, passing through when I heard of a hidden Earth Sovereign's treasure—mere coincidence."
"Mo Yu, just passing through…" Zhong Cang's gaze sharpened, his face suddenly hardening as he shouted:
"Heaven and Earth Manifestation!"
He stomped and roared. At once, the boundless spiritual energy in the heavens surged madly toward him, condensing in front of him into an enormous crystalline mountain, gleaming with multicolored radiance. It was pure energy made tangible—a true physical manifestation of spirit power.
Only an Earth Sovereign could wield such might.
Clang!
The mountain fell like a meteor, crashing toward Mo Yu from above. Even a perfected ninth‑grade Sovereign would be crippled or killed beneath such an attack.
But Mo Yu's eyes flashed cold. Raising his right hand, thunder erupted violently, spiraling upward and piercing the air like a lightning drill that smashed head‑on into the mountain of energy.
Boom!
The explosion thundered like a storm's heart. The incredible shockwave forced even seventh‑ and eighth‑grade Sovereigns to hastily raise energy barriers to shield themselves.
As for the storm army nearby—they were obliterated instantly, swept into nothingness.
"Oh? Truly an Earth Sovereign after all…" Zhong Cang's eyes darkened, confirming Mo Yu's level.
"It seems the lack of honor among your Asura Gate stems directly from its master," Mo Yu said coldly. "When the beam is crooked, so are the rafters—truly leading by example."
If it weren't for the current circumstances, he would have already blasted Zhong Cang apart.
Yet Zhong Cang did not show anger. A man of his level had long set aside pride and shame.
"Hehe, all a misunderstanding," he smiled faintly. "I only wished to test the strength of Lord Mo Yu. Since you are occupied with your own affairs, I will not intrude. Please, go on."
Mo Yu gave a derisive laugh. "Then I suggest you remember this—those with idle hands often pay a heavy price."
With that, he turned, stepping into the green halo and vanishing from sight.
Zhong Cang's face darkened at the mockery. His eyes, fixed on Mo Yu's fading form, flickered with killing intent.
"Master, who was that man? Is he also after the Feng Emperor's treasure?" asked the ninth‑grade Sovereign beside him.
"The Feng Emperor's treasure?" Zhong Cang sneered. "Do you really think a mere Feng Emperor, a mediocre Lower Earth Sovereign, could stir up chaos enough to summon all these powers—including outsiders?"
"Then for what reason?" the subordinate asked curiously.
"Hmph. That Feng Emperor likely never knew it himself, but his tomb lay atop another cave. Deep within his so‑called mansion lies the true hidden treasure—one that really draws Earth Sovereigns here," Zhong Cang said gravely.
"Another hidden treasure?" The subordinate's eyes burned hot. Something beyond even the Feng Emperor's trove—could it be…
"Yes. Rumor says this place was the final resting site of an ancient Earth Sovereign at the peak of consummation. That kind of treasure would indeed summon such powerful beings. Mo Yu must have heard whispers too—that's why he came."
He scoffed. "His excuse might fool others, but not me."
Another Earth Sovereign meant another rival. Winning the treasure of an Earth Sovereign great completion would not be easy.
But even so, Zhong Cang would not forgo the opportunity. If he could obtain the inheritance of such a mighty being, he might reach that same level himself—and cement the Asura Gate's dominance in the Northern Region.
And if he managed one more step—into the realm of the fabled Heaven Sovereign—his name would echo across the Great Thousand World.
After indulging in thought, Zhong Cang fixed his eyes upon the glowing halo ahead. "Enter!"
At his command, he vaulted forward. The Asura troops followed, hundreds of figures disappearing into the light.
Behind them, more powerful auras pressed through the storm barrier toward the entrance—some so well‑concealed that they rivaled Zhong Cang's own strength.
When Mo Yu passed through the halo, powerful spatial energy swept around him. Harsh winds tore past his eyes until his senses gradually adapted. He then opened them slowly—and froze in surprise.
Before him stretched a vast expanse of land. Towering palatial structures dotted the horizon—but most lay in ruins, crumbled by time. Yet from their remnants, one could still glimpse the grand magnificence that once stood here.
The entire land was gray and lifeless, time‑worn desolation hanging heavy in the air. This place had long been devoid of life.
Mo Yu gazed silently, slightly dazed. He had not expected the so‑called inner sanctum to appear so devastated. It looked less like a preserved relic—and more like a world obliterated by some ancient cataclysm.
"Senior Feng Emperor, this is…" Mo Yu murmured.
"This cave—this so‑called inheritance mansion—was not created by me," the Feng Emperor's voice answered within him. "When the Tianxuan Sect hunted me, I was gravely wounded and near death. I hadn't the strength or time to build such a grand tomb.
"When I stumbled upon this hidden pocket realm, I discovered an abandoned, ruined cave mansion—masterless, its structure failing. I used it as my resting place and stationed my storm army to guard the entrance. In truth, I know little of this place myself."
"I see…" Mo Yu nodded thoughtfully. "Then, Senior, did you ever explore its depths?"
"No," Feng Emperor admitted. "When I arrived, I was already at death's door. After sealing my corpse, I had no energy to probe further…." He paused, then mused quietly, "Mo Yu, do you mean to say the other Earth Sovereigns were drawn not by my tomb—but by this relic's true secret?"
"Exactly," Mo Yu replied. "Your strength was considerable, but not enough to compel so many Lower Earth Sovereigns to appear in person. There must be a deeper secret within this place."
"In that case," Feng Emperor said thoughtfully, "the original master of this cave might have been an Upper Earth Sovereign—or even a perfected Earth Sovereign."
Indeed. Only such an exalted being's legacy could attract Earth Sovereigns in droves.
As for a Heaven Sovereign's treasure—that was beyond imagination. Were that the case, the entire Great Thousand World would be swarming here, not just the northern realms.
"Very likely," Mo Yu said, excitement flickering in his eyes. "Judging from the cave's age, it must date back to ancient times—likely belonging to an Upper or perfected Earth Sovereign."
If so, the rewards could be beyond measure. Earth Sovereign relics were rarities one could hardly ever encounter.
Having settled his resolve, Mo Yu said, "Senior Feng Emperor, where is your corpse located? Let's retrieve it first—then we'll explore the cave's depths."
"Hehe, very well. Take the fifth path on the left ahead…" the Feng Emperor replied with a faint laugh.
