Chapter 763: The Crimson Python Clan, Ran Ben
The Divine Beast Origin.
Whoosh!
Across the endless horizon, the sound of rushing wind echoed as four streaks of rainbow light shot from afar, trailing sharp sonic booms as they sped toward their destination.
These four figures were none other than Mo Yu, Cai Lin, and the siblings, who had set their sights on the Ancient Body Refining Tower immediately upon arrival in the Divine Beast Origin and were now hurrying there at full speed.
They had been traveling rapidly for nearly half a day. Along the way, they had encountered members of other beast clans, but mutual wariness had kept conflicts at bay.
"Based on our position, we should reach the nearest Ancient Body Refining Tower in about a day," Mang Lie said while holding a beast-bone compass. Light points flickered on its surface, forming a vague map.
At the center of the map loomed the outline of a tower—their goal.
Mo Yu nodded, showing no signs of impatience. Instead, as they flew, he closed his eyes slightly, drawing in the endless spiritual energy of the heavens and earth into his body.
As this energy was swiftly absorbed, he sensed a peculiar power seeping from it, merging into his flesh and blood. At the same time, his vitality throughout his body grew even more vibrant.
The spiritual energy of the Divine Beast Origin actually contained a trace of power that tempered the body—and upon closer inspection, Mo Yu realized it stemmed from the primordial aura permeating the world.
"This place truly benefits body cultivation," he thought, a smile forming on his face as his blood thrummed with energy. His anticipation for the Ancient Body Refining Tower grew stronger.
If his Divine Beast Body could advance to greater completion, even relying solely on physical strength, he would be able to clash head-on with a Seventh-Grade Sovereign!
For this journey to the Divine Beast Origin, he not only aimed to help Cai Lin obtain the ancient Swallowing Python divine blood but also to propel his own strength forward dramatically. Only then could he keep pace with his true self!
The next day passed in relentless flight. Under their full-speed travel, they arrived without incident at the region housing the Ancient Body Refining Tower.
Atop a solitary peak, the four appeared in a flash. Their gazes immediately turned to the distance, where amid a cluster of mountains stood a massive city spanning thousands of miles, now reduced to ruins.
Though in decay, the remnants still hinted at its former grandeur. In ancient times, this must have been a mighty stronghold within the Divine Beast Origin.
"This is Great Desolate City," Mang Lie explained, pointing to the ancient ruins. "In the primordial era, it was a top-tier power in the Divine Beast Origin, and within it lies one of the surviving Ancient Body Refining Towers."
Mo Yu nodded, then narrowed his eyes at the landscape. "It seems this tower draws quite a crowd."
Through his senses, he detected powerful auras streaming in from the distant horizon—clearly, all headed for the same tower.
Moreover, beyond those approaching, Mo Yu frowned as he scanned the ruined city. Spiritual fluctuations already emanated from within; others had arrived first.
"Hm?"
As Mo Yu probed the city's energy signatures, his expression shifted. He looked up toward a certain direction.
There, several rainbows streaked across the sky. Upon nearing them, the arrivals seemed to sense their presence, and with a burst of wind, they appeared directly overhead.
"Heh, who might this be? Oh, it's Cai Lin. I didn't expect the Celestial Swallowing Python Clan to send out your one and only Nine-Colored Swallowing Python. Aren't you afraid she'll meet her end in the Divine Beast Origin?"
A woman's娇笑 echoed as the figures materialized. The voice was pleasant, but its words dripped with malice.
Cai Lin's beautiful face darkened at the sound. She lifted her head, a mocking smile curling her lips. "Ran Qing, it seems you still can't accept losing to me all those years ago."
Mo Yu looked up as well. Four figures hovered in the air ahead.
Among them stood a woman in red robes, her figure slender and curvaceous, with delicate features exuding a seductive charm. But now, her lovely eyes glinted with cold fury at Cai Lin's retort.
Mo Yu frowned slightly at the group, unclear on their background. From the exchange, it seemed Cai Lin had a history with this Ran Qing.
"Brother Mo Yu," Mang Yu whispered beside him, "they're from the Crimson Python Clan. In the past, they sent their young elites to challenge our clan in a bloodline trial. It happened that Sister Cai Lin had just returned, and she defeated this Ran Qing then. I didn't expect her to hold such a grudge over a simple match." Her tone carried clear disdain.
"The Crimson Python Clan?"
Mo Yu paused, then nodded. This was another beast race on par with the Celestial Swallowing Pythons, with roots tracing back to the bloodline of the supreme divine beast, the Forest Giant Python. If fully awakened, it held immense potential.
"It was just a bloodline trial, and you lost," Ran Qing sneered. "This is the Divine Beast Origin—strength matters, not bloodlines."
As Mo Yu and Mang Yu spoke quietly, Ran Qing's gaze shifted to him. Her brows arched. "I've heard the rumors—you married a human. Is this him?"
She sized Mo Yu up and down, her eyes filled with arrogance, scrutiny, and a hint of contempt.
"A Sixth-Grade Sovereign, and you bring him here? You must value him greatly. But be careful—if he dies in the Divine Beast Origin, you'll end up a widow, Cai Lin."
Mo Yu's face darkened at the words, a chill flashing in his eyes. He merely gave Ran Qing a cold glance, refusing to let her provocation rattle him.
Still, in his mind, he resolved to teach her a lesson if the chance arose.
Ran Qing blinked in surprise at his composure, unaccustomed to such restraint.
"No need to worry about us. Spend your energy on yourself instead," Cai Lin replied indifferently.
If Ran Qing knew that Mo Yu's true self was an upper Earth Sovereign, she'd likely regret her words and slap her own face.
"Ungrateful as ever…"
Ran Qing's lips curved mockingly. She turned slightly to a clansman beside her. "Brother Ran Ben should have reached the tower already, right?"
"Heh, with Brother Ran Ben's speed, no Seventh-Grade Sovereign can match him," the man replied with a laugh, casting a smirking glance at Mo Yu's group.
"Ran Ben?"
Mang Lie's eyes narrowed at the name, a trace of wariness crossing his face.
Mo Yu, sensing his reaction, sent a mental message. "Who is this Ran Ben?"
Mang Yu's brows furrowed too, her expression sour. "Ran Ben is the most outstanding talent of the Crimson Python Clan's younger generation, with the highest chance of awakening the Forest Giant Python bloodline. He's incredibly strong—once clashed with a genius from the True Dragon Clan without falling behind. He's famous among the young elites of the beast realms now."
Mo Yu finally understood. No wonder Ran Qing acted so boldly—with such a powerhouse backing her.
Ran Qing continued with a smile. "I see your goal is the Body Refining Tower here too. How convenient. I'll have Brother Ran Ben look after you all."
The word "look after" carried a heavy implication, clear to everyone present.
"Finished talking? Then leave. No need to see you off," Mo Yu said flatly, lifting an eyelid.
Ran Qing faltered, her face flushing with anger. Gnashing her teeth, she shot Mo Yu a venomous glare. "I hope you can still smile when you meet Brother Ran Ben!"
With that, she turned into a streak of light and shot toward the ruined city, her companions following.
Mo Yu's group wasted no time either, transforming into four rays of light and plunging into the city.
Within the city, ancient buildings towered like clouds, infused with a barbaric aura. Massive figures streaked across the sky, and the air echoed with earth-shaking beast roars.
As the roars reverberated, spiritual light flickered in Mo Yu's eyes, and the grand visions faded. The city reverted to its ruined state, decay filling their view.
"What a pity for such a mighty city," Mo Yu sighed.
Without pause, they streaked onward, heading straight for the city's heart.
There, they sensed an intensely ancient, primordial fluctuation—likely emanating only from the surviving Ancient Body Refining Tower.
After flying for nearly half an hour, their speed gradually slowed.
Whoosh!
The four landed atop a crumbling stone building. Their eyes locked onto the scene ahead.
The ground there was flat and intact, unlike the cracked ruins elsewhere—preserved by the structure at its center: a mottled, ancient stone tower standing silently.
The tower was dark gray, etched with natural, ancient patterns. It exuded a terrifying pressure that made even Mo Yu's flesh ache faintly, as if on the verge of shattering.
"So this is the Ancient Body Refining Tower?"
Mo Yu stared at it, his blood surging as if eager to charge inside. He suppressed the urge forcefully—rushing in recklessly would mean instant death.
"This tower has drawn quite a few people," Mang Lie said, shifting his gaze to the surroundings with narrowed eyes.
As Mang Lie scanned, Mo Yu felt several sharp gazes locking onto them.
Following the most aggressive ones, he spotted four figures on a ruined peak.
They were burly as iron towers, clad in black armor, radiating thick killing intent. Their eyes glowed faintly red, and each forehead bore a curved, pitch-black rhinoceros horn sharp enough to pierce the void.
"That's the Rhinoceros Demon Clan. Didn't expect them here too," Mang Lie said upon seeing them. "They specialize in body cultivation, with strength to uproot mountains. In battle, they fight like mad demons—extremely troublesome."
Mo Yu nodded. Even from afar, he sensed their formidable physical power, capable of pulverizing mountains with casual strikes.
Among them, the leader stood out most alarmingly.
"That one ahead must be Han Yue, the top prodigy of this generation's Rhinoceros Demon Clan," Mang Lie said warily. "He's a Seventh-Grade Sovereign, and with his body's strength, his combat power is extraordinary."
Mo Yu inclined his head slightly.
"To the west, that's the Flame Crane Clan. Over there, the Dragon Ape Clan. And the Swallowing Crocodile Clan. Quite the gathering," Mang Lie added, his expression growing graver.
Mo Yu remained noncommittal, but then a domineering, sharp gaze suddenly pierced toward them, enveloping the group.
All four sensed it and looked up. On a distant ruined structure stood five figures, including Ran Qing and her two companions from earlier.
Clearly, all five were from the Crimson Python Clan.
And so, the leader must be the prodigy Ran Qing had mentioned—Ran Ben of the Crimson Python Clan.
