Julian's smile never faded. He watched her with open appreciation, clearly enjoying the way she tried to reclaim control even after bending over the table for him just minutes ago.
"Fair enough," he said, nodding once. "I accept your terms."
Louisa studied him for a long moment, searching for any sign of deception. When she found none, she let out a slow breath and nodded.
"Good," she said softly. "Then we have a deal."
With that, she walked towards the door and before she left, she paused at the doorway and looked back at him over her shoulder.
"One last thing, nephew," she said, her voice carrying a warning edge. "If you break your promise… … I will make sure you regret it. Family or not."
Julian simply smiled.
"I wouldn't dream of it."
Louisa gave him one final lingering look before she slipped out of the room, closing the door softly behind her.
Julian remained seated for a long time after she left, staring at the closed door with a dark, satisfied expression.
