Being struck by a metallic pillar clearly wasn't something Kent was prepared for or expected this early into his dreadful mission.
However, he managed to tank the blow, the ground beneath his feet shattering, chunks of ice flying back. The shockwave produced from that blow was enough to send Yggzrael and the others flying back.
Kent pushed the pillar back and, using the [Soul Map], he teleported away.
Because he was hoping to have a good battle with Yggzrael and the others, he chose not to use the Soul Map. Using it would have made him untouchable, unless his opponent had used their domain.
So, to avoid that, he turned it off.
If he hadn't, perhaps he would have seen this attack coming from a mile away.
Appearing 2 km away, he regarded the monstrosity that had attacked him, and for a moment, his body trembled, not out of fear, but from the thrill of the battle ahead of him.
