The dark swords shot forward like bullets.

SHNK—SHNK—SHNK—SHNK!

Every Chitauri in front of them was impaled instantly. The aliens let out distorted, metallic screams as the darkness spread through their bodies.

Their armor cracked.

Their skin shriveled.

Their limbs twisted as if they were rotting alive.

Within seconds, the creatures collapsed into dust-like fragments.

Matt, Colleen, and Misty stared—half impressed, half horrified.

Alex lowered his arm, shadows fading around him.

"That's the corrosive part," he said quietly. "Darkness eats whatever it touches."

Misty exhaled slowly.

"Remind me not to piss you off."

Alex ignored the comment and pointed toward the panicked civilians hiding behind cars and storefronts.

"You guys help the civilians. I'll cover you from above."

Misty shook her head.

"No—we can handle these foot soldiers. You focus on the bigger threats."

Colleen nodded sharply.

"She's right. You have the strongest range attacks."

Matt turned his masked face toward the sky.

"And bigger threats are already here."

They all looked up.

A deep rumble echoed through the streets—heavy, mechanical, shaking the ground beneath their feet.

The shadows above shifted.

A massive Leviathan—hundreds of feet long—burst from the portal, flying through the buildings like a dragon made of metal and flesh. Its engines roared, and dozens of Chitauri flyers swarmed around it like insects.

Civilians screamed again and scattered.

Misty tightened her grip on her pistols.

"Oh, come on… that thing is huge."

Colleen raised her katana, jaw clenched.

"We're going to need a plan."

Matt listened to the vibrations in the air.

"It's heading this way. Fast."

Alex's white-and-black mask reflected the gigantic creature.

He took one deep breath.

"Alright," he said calmly.

"I'll stall the Leviathan. You three evacuate everyone you can."

All three turned toward him at once.

Misty: "Stall that? Alone?"

Colleen: "Alex, that thing could crush you."

Matt: "You sure?"

Alex smirked under the mask.

The sky darkened as the Leviathan roared and dove toward them.

Alex stepped forward, shadows swirling around his arms again.

"Go!" he shouted.

The Leviathan roared, shaking windows and sending car alarms blaring.

Alex stepped forward, his senses expanding outward.

Energy Sense kicked in immediately.

He felt—

Fear from dozens of civilians still trapped nearby

Determination from Misty

Calm focus from Colleen

Matt's controlled tension

And above them… a massive presence of alien life-force pulsing inside the Leviathan

"damm, this energy sense is powerful" Alex mumbled.

His muscles tightened, bones humming with power.

Physique Upgrade—ten times human peak—made his steps feel light but powerful, like he could sprint up a wall if he wanted.

Misty grabbed his arm before running off.

"Don't die! I don't wanna tell people our team leader got eaten by a space worm!"

Alex chuckled.

"With my regeneration? I'll be fine."

He wasn't lying.

Enhanced Regeneration was already healing cuts on his hand from earlier debris.

Colleen and Matt took off toward the trapped civilians.

Alex focused forward.

The Leviathan dived straight toward him, its massive jaws glowing with energy.

"Alright, big guy…"

Alex raised his hand.

"…let's test my limits."

Darkforce gathered first.

A dozen black shadow spears formed around him—each one small, sharp, and swirling with corrosive energy.

"Go."

They shot upward at insane speed—thanks to his improved strength and reaction time.

The spears struck the Leviathan's armored head.

CRACK—CRACK—SHHHHHH—

Where they hit, the armor began to rot, metal sizzling and organic flesh decaying like it had aged a hundred years in an instant.

The Leviathan screamed, jerking mid-flight.

But it didn't fall.

"Yeah… figured it wouldn't be that easy."

Alex planted his feet as the massive creature swung its tail toward him.

His body moved before he consciously reacted—his upgraded speed firing like instinct.

He dodged aside and rolled, the tail smashing into the street behind him, blowing up concrete.

Dust and smoke filled the air.

Alex emerged from the cloud, eyes glowing again.

This time—white.

"Let's try the light side."

He formed small light constructs—bright disks orbiting around his hands.

Unlike the shadows, the light didn't corrode.

It burned clean and sharp.

Alex flicked his wrists.

The disks shot forward like slicing blades—hitting the Leviathan's eyes and exposed inner flesh.

FLASH—FLASH—FLASH!

The creature recoiled, blinded on one side.

Alex exhaled.

"Good. That got its attention."

The Leviathan roared and turned fully toward him, fury building.

Alex sensed its killing intent—sharp and cold like a spike of pressure hitting his chest.

He braced himself.

"Okay… big ugly is mad."

He cracked his neck.

"Time to run."

He sprinted forward—10x faster than a top human athlete—moving like a blur down the street as the Leviathan tore through cars trying to chase him.

Behind him, the street exploded with debris.

Matt's voice echoed from far behind, barely audible:

"Alex! Don't let it corner you!"

Misty screamed from another direction:

"Idiot! RUN FASTER!"

Colleen yelled:

"Stop playing with it!"

Alex yelled back while running:

"I am running!"

Above him, the Leviathan lowered its massive body, trying to slam him.

Alex turned sharply into an alley, using his enhanced strength to leap off a wall and flip onto a fire escape.

His regeneration fixed the bruises instantly as he landed.

He breathed out.

"Alright… time for round two."

He raised both hands.

White light gathered in one palm.

Black shadow pooled in the other.

"Let's see how you like both."

He jumped out of the alley and launched upward—straight toward the Leviathan's face.

Alex shot upward like a bullet, the glow of light in one hand and the swirl of darkness in the other.

The Leviathan roared and swung its massive head toward him.

Alex twisted mid-air—superhuman reflexes firing—and slammed both palms forward.

BOOM—!

A burst of white light struck one side of the creature's face.

A surge of black corrosion hit the other.

The Leviathan jerked violently, crashing into the side of a skyscraper. Glass shattered. Metal groaned. The giant creature struggled to stay airborne.

Alex spun backward in the air, landing on the side of a building with a heavy thud, sticking there for just a second before leaping again.

"Still not dead? Fine! Round three!"

He charged another blast—only for a second Leviathan to burst out of the sky portal with a deafening screech.

"Oh come on!" he groaned. "Two of them?!"

Both Leviathans turned toward him.

Below on the street—

The Avengers arrived.
