Danilo
"Kolli was my choice," I looked back at Pai who was patient enough to let me pull my thoughts together, "He was my best choice."
"And he's done," Pai said it more as a statement than a question. "What about Dove?"
I tensed knowing that he expected honesty from me but I would never throw Dove under the bus like that, "I wanted him."
"Pereira, Danilo?"
"I didn't want to disappoint you," I wanted to kick myself when my throat closed up. I didn't expect the swell of emotions at the option of telling someone the truth. That I didn't want to be CEO. I didn't care about rockets and quantum physics. That in university it was the degree I constantly failed over and over again. There was no appeal in working with the government and creating innovations. I knew the money was fantastic but I didn't want to be behind the reason Pereira wasn't performing well.
