I ran my hand over my stomach as I looked out to the pouring rain. My skin felt cold and clammy as my heart roared in my chest. I didn't know heartbreak could do this to someone. I guessed this was why they called it a broken heart. That's how it felt afterwards, as if it would never work quite the same, that even if you could move on somewhere deep in the tight muscles his name would forever be engraved.
At first it was anger. How could my husband of nearly seven years do this to me! I thought he was out of his mind, having reached the end of insanity. I wanted to ruin him, to make him realize I was the better choice and that he had made the biggest mistake of his life. Therefore I did, I gave my divorce attorney the harshest instructions, I know the best way to hurt him was to hurt his pocket.
