Lance adjusted his attire and then knocked on Admiral Miles' office door—thud, thud, thud, three times.
The door was quickly opened. Admiral Miles sat on his broad chair, and behind the door stood a young man with a somewhat similar appearance to him.
"Mr. Lance, please come in!" The young man knew who he was and invited him in.
Lance removed his hat before entering the room and said thank you.
"Just give it to me," the young officer appeared very courteous. Although he looked just like a Major, a Major working in Admiral Miles' office evidently wasn't an ordinary officer.
After thanking again, Lance handed over his coat and hat, then proceeded towards the desk.
As he was about to reach the desk, Admiral Miles finally stood up from the armrest of his chair and shook hands with Lance, "What's so urgent that you need to see me this late?"
It was already half-past eight, and if it weren't for Lance wanting to see him, he would've gone to bed already.
