Gracelle smiled faintly, looking at her mother. "I'm… sorry… mo… ther…" She began to struggle for breath, her chest rising and falling with difficulty, her mouth gasping softly.
"Gracelle! Gracelle!" Sylvia's voice grew frantic. "Rolland!!! Call the healer!!!!!"
Rolland turned and rushed to the door, shouting toward the guards nearby. "Get the healers back here, now!"
Gracelle forced a weak smile. "Mother… father… I really can't feel… my legs… and my vision… is fading…" Her voice grew softer, her body trembling slightly as a cold numbness spread through her limbs.
She used the last of her strength to slowly touch her mother's hand, her own trembling with fear. "Mother… father… thank… you… for… everything… for caring… for me… for looking… after me…"
