"What does it say?" Rera asked.
Irwiz looked at her back, and replied.
"I only said I could read too, not necessarily better than you"
However, Rera's eyes were doubtful.
"You seemed quite focused there though. Not really hesitating or not understanding"
"Eh, I just glimpsed over those words. However, I believe I found a crucial piece of information."
The diary, for better or worse, not that useful. The only useful pieces he was able to extract was apparently that the author of this diary, Olly, was a Rank 3, which wasn't considered as much.
And then, the more important stuff being that there was a book on mysticism here!
Irwiz didn't really know if that was the book Olly had found earlier in the chapter but it at least should have some correlation.
After all, that untitled book described magical beasts and strange things too.
Probably, Olly just named the book later after fully studying it.
That was the important information.
Oh! One another thing.
According to the author, the passage they had found should've been very much secretive, boosted with whatever life he sacrificed and some from a ritual he performed.
Or was it the cult's ritual…?
That didn't matter. The only key was that only descendants from the village was supposed to be able to sense it.
That would've also explained why he overlooked it too since he was being attentive, but how was Rera able to see?
To think she just might have been the lineage of someone from that village, the coincidence was too big. Especially since she also studied ancient Seraph before.
To him, it all just looked like a big reunion arranged by fate. A fate's red line that connected Rera and this place together.
Maybe, Rera might have even been that Olly's brother's bloodline…
It seemed like he should stay close with her for a while. Since fate was arranging all this, he might be able to benefit from accompanying her.
After all, he had already gained a massive benefit from her - this hidden room. Thinking now, Irwiz really doubted he would've been able to escape or hide from the cult people just by himself.
For the precious sacrifices, they would search everywhere after all. Since Irwiz was all but an average kid with a bit of mortal skills, he wouldn't have been able to run from them at all.
"Important information? Ooooo, tell me, tell me! Is it an escape route?" Rera exclaimed surprisedly.
Although Irwiz may have thought a lot, in real life, it was only conducted in a matter of seconds.
"Yes, it seems like there is another, hidden book here" for now, Irwiz decided not to mention the author of the diary being closely related to her. After all, she had no use with that information.
He will tell her if he felt like it later.
"A book? Is it special? Can it help us?" Rera was disappointed. Was a book supposed to be very important, or fun?
She didn't really care about more books while they had a pressing situation at hand. A cult was at risk of finding them any time after all.
"Yes, it is very special" In response, Irwiz only grinned.
He didn't feel like holding back on this information from Rera. After all, she was the destined successor of it.
It wasn't like it was an exclusive thing too, like resources, but it was knowledge that could be shared.
And right now, having more power by their side would also mean a better chance for them to survive.
Irwiz didn't even think for a moment that his apparent master 'Fate' would be so kind to save his life from danger. Just from his servant code LCEF-707, he knew there were millions if not billions of servants just like him.
Doing the math, each of those letters before the numbers could be one of 26 letters in the alphabet. Let's not mention the special characters.
If so, 26 to the power of 4 would mean, something around 450 thousand. Multiply that by 1000, and you get around 450 million...
And he didn't know if more letters or numbers could be added too. With just one more number, the estimation could exponentially increase.
Anyways, they had to find the book on mystics now.
Thus, Irwiz translated the portion that talked about how the book had been hidden, and then the two of them got to digging.
It was hard, not easy at all.
Dirt down at this level would always be very hard due to the pressure. Fortunately, it had been free from that pressure for a few centuries probably, so it was still manageable for the two of them.
Now, both of their hands had been dirtied, their ragged clothes becoming dirt rags, and some part of their nail had even broken off, causing Rera to stop.
She was in pain as she nagged to Irwiz.
"Hey hey how deep are we supposed to go?"
"Should be almost there by now" Irwiz replied promptly.
His nails and fingers also hurt from all the digging.
After all, they have probably been digging for half an hour already. Still, they have only dug around 2 meters. It was quite an accomplishment in itself.
In the end, Irwiz had even resorted to diggin with the key he found. Still, he didn't force it too much in fear that it might get damaged.
What if this exact key had some use later on?
He didn't know.
Thus, bearing the dull pain, he continued digging. His eyes didn't falter.
10 more minutes had passed and he has dug half a meter in again. Rera had stopped helping by now, only watching him in interest.
Then finally, his finger seemed to have hit something soft. Excited, Irwiz quickly outline where he dug.
Indeed, he could see a book! Although it was incredibly dirty, after dusting it a bit, he could see that the book's cover was made with scarlet red leather.
On it, was a title made with special dark ink:
Records of Mysticism and Journey Into the Abyss.
At the sight of it, Irwiz's pupils instantly started to shake in excitement as his hands trembled.
At the same time, the sound of the system rang.
