I would've thought I had gone mad if it wasn't for the visual image of a golden sword being ingrained in my mind as I could feel, I can pull it out if I ever wanted to use I can also feel the effects of both of my perks as I gain the information how both of them worked.

Opening my eyes I looked around a large room clearly being the master bedroom. As I stretch my body, I noticed that I was naked as I slowly got out of bed.
However the door of the room opened as a woman entered. "Good morning master James" the woman said she got closer to me. She was wearing a simple maid uniform. Her name maria with my new memories. She was the new handmaid that I had hired for the household.
"Good Maria" I told her she gave me a tread that had my breakfast on it which was simple eggs and some bacon.
As she leaves I slowly finish my food. I slowly start processing the information that I had been given thank to my new power.
The origin of the state of the castle was simple as several of my ancestors had decided start spending money on rebuilding the family home succeeding, and failing throughout the years until the current state of today.
This was different from my old memories as my ancestors had not used our lands wealth to rebuild our family home, but instead used it to funds several expeditions in to raids of the baharuth empire and rebellions.
As I finish, I got up off my bed and started changing into a more appropriate clothing.

As my wooden sword clashes with one of my three opponent, the three of them being part of my new men at arms working under my service.
I had decided to start early training with my new man as besides the brief memories I had of them I haven't gotten the opportunity to at least interact with them.
Of course, I kept whatever relationship between master and servant, professional as regardless I was still their employee but better to get to know enough about them to know if their trust where they're not as I wouldn't want the same situation that happened to my kinsman and woman to happened to me.
However as expected these men were weak and compared to me they couldn't hold up a fight against me. I didn't even have to use any martial arts or any enhancement the only thing I did was use my natural strength.
I would have to train these people up to my standards as in my experience gold was the highest rank the pinnacle that most could achieve as I know, even without my new powers in a few years, I could've potentially ranked up to Mithril if I kept being an adventure.
But regardless most people would never reach that far either for the lack of good blood or for the lack of trying their best.
At the bare minimum, I would get these common soldiers to at least learn some martial arts to make them a worthy investment.

As I rode throughout the land with several of my men riding with me, we rode through the different settlements throughout my holdings.
We had been traveling throughout my lands to meet with several of my peasants living in my land throughout the several settlements.
Now we were heading to the last village that I needed to visit Carne Village.
After I finish meeting with the villagers I and my 25 men at arms I planned to do an entire raid to exterminate bandits and monsters throughout my territory without needing to hire any adventurers. Hopefully, it wouldn't be necessary to hire any of them as it would just be a waste of coin if we can just do it ourselves.
As we got closer to the village. I can notice the panic from some of the villagers, they saw us a small army of 25 fully armored men on horseback.
However, a group of the villagers managed to block our way to the path to the village.
"You there," I called out, my voice carrying across the distance. "I am Baron James Ironwilld, warden of these lands came to see the people of my territory and I have brought you my people a gift."
I said out loud I had brought some meat after hunting some beast.
The villagers parted slowly, their fear warring with curiosity as they eyed the meat I had brought. A cart laden with dressed deer and wild boar sat behind my men. However, one man stepped forward in front of the group of villagers this was likely, the village chief.
"My lord," he said, bowing stiffly. "We... we are honored by your presence. It has been many years since a lord of Ironwilld visited Carne Village.
I can only smirk at the old man "I wish to see the people living on my lands and get to know the locals" I stayed as simply as my men began to enter the village.
For the next hour, I enjoyed the company of the several villagers as we consumed the gift I had brought most of the villagers happily hosting a feast for me and my man.
As the hours pass me and my man decide to depart leaving the village with some coins as a sign of goodwill.
Now it was the time for the hunt of bandits and any potential monster in my territory.

For the next couple of days, my men made sure to exterminate all bandit camps around my territory, not letting any of them escape and come back and bring me any more trouble.
For most of them, it had been easy. I had used my skinchanging abilities to connect to different birds, using them for scouting, making it more efficient and effective.
Honestly, these new powers were strange. They weren't connected to the tier magic system but instead worked similarly to my martial arts.
I had also started practicing how to use my powers more effectively, especially the [Hercules Method], as that had helped me increase my physical power in combination with my [Magic Circuits] as I learned how to reinforce my body using my circuits.
I had mostly focused on my martial abilities. Despite the fact that I knew I now had the potential to use magic, from what I had known, it was always better to simply focus on fighting instead of branching out. Typically, people who were both a mage and a warrior would not end up becoming strong and would end up fumbling their own potential.
It was very difficult for someone who had been living a farmer's life to eventually become a warrior or mage later in life, and it was the same for someone who did both paths this person in question would never reach the strength of someone who just focused on either one.
Which is why I would only focus on my physical strength as a warrior and improve my swordsmanship.
I had also been training my men-at-arms, as I wanted my new employees to be as strong as possible to make their duties easier for them and for me by extension.
I had trained with the best of them in the training yard, and I could tell that the younger ones had improved some of them faster than others. But still, I could tell the vast majority of them had somewhat improved, as the majority of the men I had supposedly hired were young men with some decent talent.

Despite my intentions, I can feel the knowledge on how to utilize my new magic in my mind as the knowledge of several spells enter my mind I could feel the urge to unleash a fireball right now.
Perhaps maybe despite my previous statements, I would try out this new magic of mine. I would have to try at the very least and maybe this would also help my men to get better and myself in the training yard tomorrow.

Yes another new story this time continuing the legacy series with a new installment. Honestly overlord as setting by itself it's not that interesting outside of nazarick but writing a short story in this world should not be difficult.
Also, this entire story premise is based on another fanfic on a suppose mission of the waifu catalogue despite the fact that I'm not able to find it.
Regardless, I thought the idea was interesting for a short story.
However, I might have to reread the light novels as it's been years at this point since I read it for the first time.
Also, we're going for a hero built this time around and I'm thinking it's pretty always what I'm building up to that poor fucking skeleton won't see it coming.
