The land beyond the Swamp was wet and muddy, but not too far from it, they found a hole. It was not nearly as large as the giant open abyss they were used to seeing. It was more like a well, a very large well, with stone walls and everything.
They ventured down. It took almost an hour just to reach the bottom, and they had not even gone down by rope, but floated instead. Even so, it took that long.
Once they reached the depths, they noticed a few traps here and there preventing them from advancing. Poison darts, flame-spouting statues rising from below, and other similar mechanisms. But with Darian among them, it was nothing to worry about.
"It's so dark and damp, I can smell it," said Mei.
"It's also rather cold," said Ryo.
They kept walking for a short while until they came to a wide open hall, a hall so incredibly massive that their footsteps seemed to vanish into it. And at the center of that hall, there was a figure.
