Chapter 30: He Has All Nature Chakra!
Yet when the Third Hokage named two people, he had actually left out Yoruha.
That alone showed how unremarkable Yoruha usually seemed.
Even someone like the Third Hokage, who paid close attention to the younger generation, was unfamiliar with him.
Kakashi shook his head. "Neither of them."
The Third Hokage frowned. "Not Tanako Hon?"
"Then could it be... the third child?"
The Third Hokage couldn't even remember Yoruha's name.
He could only refer to him as "the third child."
Kakashi nodded. "It's Yoruha."
"Yoruha? I really don't have much impression of that child."
The Third Hokage spoke helplessly.
Kakashi wasn't surprised. With a bitter smile, he said, "It's only natural you don't remember him. Even classmates who spent six years with him at the Ninja Academy aren't very familiar with him."
The Third Hokage frowned.
"Come to the office with me."
With that, the Third Hokage disappeared.
Kakashi followed after him.
Very soon, the two of them appeared in the office.
The Third Hokage pulled out the files for this year's students.
There actually weren't many. This class had only thirty students, and only twelve had passed the exam and become genin.
Originally, only nine should have passed, but Yoruha's appearance had allowed Team 11 to pass.
In other words, in the original course of events, without Yoruha, Yamada Juki and Tanako Hon wouldn't have been able to pass and become ninja.
The reason so few students graduated from the Ninja Academy each year was because many ninja didn't become ninja through the Academy in the first place.
Many clan ninja were like that. As long as they passed the village's evaluation, they could become ninja without spending six years at the Ninja Academy.
The Third Hokage quickly found Team 11's file.
When Yoruha's file was laid out before him, the Third Hokage almost thought he was seeing things.
"This file is far too ordinary and sparse. Are you sure it's really this child?"
The Third Hokage looked at Kakashi suspiciously.
Kakashi nodded. "It's him. During his six years at the Ninja Academy, he was always hiding his talent."

"Lazy?"
