Chapter 62: You Definitely Know About the Uchiha Clan, Right?
================================================================================
Off to the side, Sasuke watched Naruto's self-satisfied expression and frowned.
"If Naruto really learns to control the power of the Nine-Tails Fox, he'll definitely become way stronger than me..."
All this time, Naruto had been the dead last of the Ninja Academy. If he surpassed him in the future, Sasuke found the very thought unbearable.
He was proud, and he couldn't accept being overtaken by Naruto.
Sasuke looked at Yoruha. "That move you used just now—was it a ninjutsu Kakashi taught you?"
Yoruha froze for a moment.
He quickly realized that Sasuke probably couldn't accept the possibility of Naruto surpassing him, so now he wanted to know whether Kakashi could make him stronger too.
Naruto caught on as well and looked at Yoruha curiously.
Sakura was the same.
Ever since a moment ago, all three of them had been wondering exactly what ninjutsu Kakashi had taught Yoruha.
Yoruha thought for a moment, then said, "Body Flicker Technique. Once you learn precise Chakra control, you'll figure that ninjutsu out yourselves. It doesn't even need to be taught."
The three of them frowned, not understanding what Yoruha meant.
"The principle of the Body Flicker Technique is actually very simple. It's the same as Tree Climbing Practice—condense Chakra beneath your feet to achieve rapid movement."
Sasuke thought about it.
"The principle doesn't sound difficult, but reaching the kind of speed you had just now is probably very hard."
Sasuke wasn't wrong, because what Yoruha had used was Lightning Body Flicker, which required mixing Lightning Release Chakra into it.
At present, Yoruha's Lightning Body Flicker could approach the speed of lightning, making it a bit faster than Kakashi's Lightning Body Flicker.
Of course, Yoruha wasn't about to admit that, so he said, "As long as you train more, you'll definitely be able to do it."
But Sasuke didn't accept that, and studied Yoruha closely.
"Your speed just now was a little faster than even Kakashi's."
"And the lightning produced when the two of you use Body Flicker Technique is clearly different in color."
Sakura nodded in agreement. "That's right. Yoruha is a little faster than Kakashi-sensei, and the lightning around you two is different colors too."
"Kakashi-sensei looks like a streak of blue lightning, while Yoruha looks like a streak of golden lightning."
Naruto grinned. "Are you lying to us?"
"I don't need to lie to you. The different colors are just because our Chakra is different."
"You'll understand in the future."
Sasuke asked, "How does Kakashi-sensei have Sharingan? Is he part of the Uchiha Clan too?"
"If Kakashi-sensei is from the Uchiha Clan, wouldn't that make him your clansman too, Sasuke?"
Naruto also looked at Yoruha.
Yoruha felt a headache coming on. He had only said those things just now to make the three of them drop the subject of Kakashi teaching him ninjutsu.
Who knew Sasuke would immediately move on to such a sensitive topic?
Things like the Uzumaki Clan could be found in books in the library; Yoruha had read about them before.
So there was nothing strange about him knowing that.
But the matter of the Uchiha Clan had always been a village secret, and Yoruha didn't really want to talk about it.
Sasuke looked at Yoruha expectantly.
He actually really hoped Kakashi was from the Uchiha Clan. That way, he wouldn't be so alone anymore. In all of Konohagakure, he was the only Uchiha Clan member left.
Seeing that Yoruha seemed troubled, Naruto asked, "Is it something you shouldn't say?"
"It's not exactly that. It's just that I don't know all that much about the Uchiha Clan either."
"But I can tell you this—Kakashi-sensei is not from the Uchiha Clan."
The anticipation on Sasuke's face instantly turned into deep disappointment.
Sakura was very confused. "If Kakashi-sensei isn't from the Uchiha Clan, then why does he have Sharingan?"
"Could there be some other clan in Konohagakure that has Sharingan?"
"I don't know about that."
Yoruha didn't want to say more, but Sasuke answered for him. "In Konohagakure, only the Uchiha Clan has Sharingan, and even within the Uchiha Clan, only a minority of clansmen can awaken it."
"Then why does Kakashi-sensei have it?" Naruto asked, very curious.
Sasuke could more or less guess.
It had to be transplanted.
It just made him uncomfortable, because it was the eye of one of his clansmen, and now Kakashi possessed it.
And who knew how Kakashi had gotten that Sharingan in the first place?
Yoruha glanced at Sasuke and knew he had definitely misunderstood Kakashi.
Although Yoruha didn't really want to talk about the Uchiha Clan, he didn't want Sasuke to misunderstand Kakashi either.
After hesitating for a moment, Yoruha decided to explain it for Kakashi's sake.
"That Sharingan was transplanted into Kakashi-sensei by one of his teammates. Back during the Third Great Ninja War, Kakashi-sensei's squad fell into an ambush, and one of Kakashi-sensei's eyes was injured."
"Kakashi-sensei's teammate was a ninja from the Uchiha Clan. That Uchiha Clan ninja was crushed on one side of his body by an enemy Earth Release technique."
"Before he died, that teammate asked the medical ninja on their squad to transplant his other intact eye into Kakashi-sensei."
"That was when Kakashi-sensei first obtained Sharingan."
"The Uchiha Clan teammate who transplanted the eye into Kakashi-sensei was his close friend."
"I imagine Kakashi-sensei often takes you to pay respects to his friend, right? That's the teammate who gave Kakashi-sensei his Sharingan."
After hearing Yoruha explain the whole story,
Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura, who had all been questioning Kakashi, fell silent.
What shocked them wasn't that Kakashi had obtained Sharingan.
It was that in the midst of war, Kakashi's teammate had been willing to give Kakashi his Sharingan.
That alone showed how deep their friendship had been.
Sasuke also felt that his earlier suspicion had been inappropriate.
"Kakashi-sensei actually built such a huge reputation in the ninja world with a transplanted Sharingan... You were right, Yoruha. Kakashi-sensei really is an incredible ninja."
Naruto sighed in admiration.
Yoruha smiled. "Naturally. Kakashi-sensei was a genius ninja even as a child. At our age, he was already a Jonin."
"And not just any Jonin—he became one through war. You can imagine how strong he was."
Sasuke said nothing, but his expectations of Kakashi had grown even stronger.
He wondered what powerful ninjutsu Kakashi might teach him in the future.
Most importantly, Kakashi had experience using Sharingan. Maybe someday he would teach Sasuke how to develop his Sharingan.
Sasuke looked at Yoruha. "Yoruha, do you know about the Uchiha Clan?"
"You must know a lot, right? Since you know Kakashi-sensei's story so clearly, and even the hidden history of the Uzumaki Clan, you definitely know a lot about the Uchiha Clan too, right?"
The reason Sasuke asked Yoruha that was because there were many things about the Uchiha Clan he didn't understand.
He didn't even know how Sharingan was supposed to be developed.
