The restrained beast pulled against the ropes again and all five students looked down at it at the same time.
Theo moved half a step toward its head before stopping himself. Rhevard had already placed one foot near the flat horn, while Varelya was moving the rope away from its throat.
There was nothing for Theo to do. He stayed where he was until he was really needed.
Velra noticed it and smiled.
"Look at that, our Merrick learned something today."
"I have always been a fast learner, professor." Theo replied.
"You moved too early once and waited correctly once. If that is enough for you, I can ask the headmaster to send one-fifth of you to the Kingdom Games."
Theo's smile disappeared. The academy workers came closer and began checking the beast. One loosened the rope around its rear legs while another attached the chains again.
Velra walked toward a fallen tree and sat on its trunk.
"All five of you, stand there"
They gathered in front of him as quickly as possible.
