"Good morning, Dad." Ella stepped into Eric's room with a smile. She paused when she saw him sitting upright in the armchair in his room, a document resting on his lap, and there were still a stack of documents on the table.
Relief washed over her for he looked considerably better than he had yesterday. Although he still looked pale.
"You should be resting, Dad," she scolded gently as she walked farther into the room.
Eric smiled as he glanced up from the document in his hand. "I've rested enough." He set the paper aside. "Besides, I'm only signing a few documents."
Ella gave him a pointed look. "That's what people say right before they spend three hours working."
Eric chuckled. "You sound like your mother." Ella smiled as she sat on the sofa closest to him.
Eric studied her for a moment. "How was your sleep?" He asked.
"I slept fine. And you?"
"Fine." Eric replied with a smile.
