Kai - Malchai - paced the edge of the top of the mountain. Watching him doing that made me dizzy as I chewed on my lower lips, eyes tracking his movement.
"Kai was foolish. I warned him of the dangers of trusting them, yet he disobeyed me!" I flinched at his raised voice.
He saw. He always saw, and his brows lowered, boring into me. I swallowed the lump in my throat, unsure of what to say next. He moved slowly, cautiously like he was afraid to startle me.
His hands were on my arms, forcing me to look up at him. "What is it?" He searched my golden eyes for answers. "Do I frighten you?"
What could I say? That I did? Was the man standing in front of me a complete stranger? I fell in love with Kai. The kind, loving, and caring man who protected me no matter what. Yet this was Malachai. Did I love him, too? Where even the same person?
His hands dropped from my arms, and my body mourned the loss of contact. The bond frizzled at that.
