Chapter 627 - Chapter 627: Talk It Out Without Me

Noah tilted his head and looked at the orc.

If he hadn't just pulled this guy back from the edge of death, it would have taken Noah a moment to figure out who he was.

But that wasn't important.

What Noah found strange was why this orc was looking for him.

Shouldn't the target be Llane?

The King of Stormwind was on the hilltop not far away.

Yet during the earlier fighting, this orc hadn't approached or attempted a sneak attack.

In that regard, he was far calmer than Lothar.

Noah even thought that if Lothar had been in command, he might have attacked already.

After all, the orcs had been completely stunned earlier.

Since Noah couldn't understand a single word the orc was saying, he turned his gaze toward the hilltop.

By now, the orcs had realized the human soldiers had arrived.

However, with Noah-the mage who had killed Gul'dan-standing inside their camp, and with the deep fear he had left behind, the orcs didn't dare move rashly.

So when the soldiers of Stormwind advanced under Llane's command, the orcs didn't attack.

They didn't surround them either.

Instead, they silently withdrew, leaving the central area to Durotan, the mysterious human mage, and the human king.

Even the newly arrived orcs didn't dare act.

Those who wanted to were stopped by the others.

Noah had left too strong an impression.

Orcs worshiped violence, but they weren't stupid.

They had no desire to provoke something that felt like a god.

"Alright," Noah said as Llane approached, spreading his hands toward Durotan.

"I think the rest is for you to discuss. There's no need to involve me, a stranger."

Garona immediately translated.

She was still shaken by Noah's performance, but she didn't hesitate.

Durotan nodded, struck his chest with his fist, and spoke.

"Thank you for what you have done for the orcs. We will remember it."

"No need," Noah replied calmly.

"I'm just a mage fulfilling a trade."

He glanced at Llane.

"My agreement was to protect the human king and ensure the negotiations weren't disrupted. I've done what I should."

In truth, Noah's task had only been to protect Llane.

Saving this wise-looking chieftain had just been a bonus.

What happened next was none of his concern.

War or peace-that was their choice.

The changes Noah had brought to this world were already massive.

As long as the Bronze Dragons didn't intervene, no one could predict the future.

Llane lived.

Stormwind still stood.

The orcs had a new Warchief-and a son who would one day become Warchief as well.

Both sides had been altered beyond recognition.

Who knew what would happen next?

Maybe they would talk it out.

Maybe they would skip a great deal of bloodshed.

And then-

Wait.

Noah suddenly remembered something.

The one who reopened the connection between the Burning Legion and Azeroth...

Was currently just a head.

That was a problem.

If that guy was gone, who would do it?

Noah's lip twitched.

This was getting complicated.

Would Azeroth still be Azeroth without the Legion's invasion?

Shaking his head, Noah stopped thinking about it.

His priority was simple.

Wait for the System to finish collecting the Holy Light.

Then leave.

Although the System was blocking information and no one had come knocking yet, that didn't mean it would stay that way.

Someone might come checking the water meter tomorrow.

Llane and Durotan both noticed Noah had no interest in staying.

They didn't press him.

They agreed to postpone further talks and focused on returning the captives first.

The reason was obvious.

Durotan was wary.

After seeing Noah's power again and again, he knew exactly what kind of threat this mage represented.

If Noah turned hostile, every clan present would suffer.

Llane's thoughts were simpler.

The number of orcs far exceeded expectations, and Noah looked ready to leave.

If anything happened after Noah was gone, the consequences would be disastrous.

Once the captives were returned, Llane immediately withdrew his forces.

The gate to Stormwind opened earlier by Medivh had already closed.

To Llane, this outcome was acceptable.

They hadn't fought.

And he had accomplished his goal.

That was enough.

Noah watched them depart.

Then he opened his own portal.

Under the gaze of countless orcs, he vanished casually.

Only then did the orcs truly relax.

To them, the departure of this bringer of calamity mattered more than anything else.

Noah, of course, had no idea he'd earned such a title.

He just wanted to go to Karazhan.

Unfortunately, the moment he passed through space, he felt himself falling.

Free fall.

Noah froze.

Did Lothar and Khadgar blow Karazhan apart?

As that thought crossed his mind, he spotted a gryphon flying ahead.

That explained it.

Just like in the original story, Lothar was rushing toward the battlefield after dealing with Medivh.

Noah found it mildly amusing.

Clearly, the man didn't trust him.

Shaking his head, Noah's mana surged.

In the next instant, he appeared beside Lothar, flying parallel to the gryphon.

Lothar was startled.

Even more shocking was the realization that the mage was flying.

Before he could speak, Noah spoke first.

"Control your gryphon. If its wings hit me, you'll be eating extra meat tonight."

"Damn it!" Lothar hurriedly steered away, then froze.

"Wait-how are you flying? And why can I hear you so clearly? We're moving at this speed!"

"Magic," Noah replied calmly.

"Your king has recovered the captives and is likely returning. Our deal is done."

He looked at Lothar.

"Now it's your turn."

"You didn't send them back to Stormwind?" Lothar frowned.

"You left them in such a dangerous place? That wasn't our agreement."

His voice grew tense.

Even though, strictly speaking, there had been no such agreement.

Lothar had simply assumed Noah would escort Llane to safety.

He hadn't expected Noah to leave immediately.

If the orcs attacked, the king would be in danger.

"There was no such agreement," Noah said evenly.

Pale gold mana erupted.

Space locked.

Lothar and the gryphon froze midair.

Noah's voice followed.

"Sir Lothar, respect the contract. I've fulfilled my end. If you intend to break it, I don't mind using force."

"Force?" Lothar stared at him.

"And what force would that be?"

"Simple," Noah said, drifting closer.

"You break the deal, I take back what I'm owed."

He smiled.

"For example, I could personally search your mind and see where the things I want are hidden."

Noah didn't actually want to fight Lothar.

But he needed to be firm.

If Lothar tried to back out, Noah would make him remember the lesson.

Noah wasn't naïve.

He knew Lothar had never truly trusted him.

And that was fair.

Someone from another universe shouldn't be trusted easily.

Noah understood that.

But understanding didn't mean tolerance.

After a long pause, Lothar nodded.

"I'll take you to Karazhan. But once we arrive, don't stop me."

"I can send you back to your king," Noah smiled.

"Don't worry. Gul'dan is dead. The Dark Portal is handled. I've done my job."

He paused.

"If you still try to withhold my payment, I won't let it go."

"You really are a mercenary," Lothar muttered.

"Greedy for reward."

He wasn't wrong.

Soon, under Lothar's lead, they reached Karazhan.

The tower had changed.

It now matched the Karazhan Noah remembered.

Stepping inside, Noah saw Khadgar waiting.

And Medivh.

Lying motionless beneath a golem.
