I was flying above the small garden behind my house in my hybrid form, flapping my wings to stay afloat while the cat-like maid was waiting on the ground.
Phew! I thought I would've died yesterday. You're really something; hasn't anyone told you that?
The coarse voice of the demon whispered in my ears.
Shut up! You're distracting me!
I yelled back as I spun to the right side to avoid a wave of knives headed my way.
Why even bother resisting? You can't win. I can tell already that young maiden is a lot stronger and more experienced than you are.
The other voice chimed in.
"Young master, if you keep stalling, I'm going to be forced to take more drastic measures to bring you back to the ground." The cheerful maid announced while waving her hand at me to get my attention.
I even had to wake up early because of this…
Suddenly, for no reason at all, my mother added some mandatory training sessions. She had prepared a schedule for my day with the help of the maids' doctors and whatnot, and this included waking up at dawn to start training before it was time to go to school.
Fine, you asked for this!
I raised my hand towards the sky and channeled the power of the angel above it, creating a large spear made of light, and then I swung my hand towards the maid, shooting the spear.
The attack is too telegraphed; if you keep telegraphing your attacks with your hands, you're never going to land a single one.
You think it's easy? Why not do it yourself if you're so good at it?
She deflected it easily with a kick on the flat side of the blade, pushing it away.
Careful, idiot! Don't fall for his taunts; the battle's not over yet.
The angel warned me.
Oof, that's kind of sad to see; she even showed you her back, but you're so slow you couldn't take advantage of that moment.
The demon commented.
I don't need your commentary; just help me out here.
I yelled to the two of them.
Roger that.
They both replied.
The demon took over control over the halo and sent it down towards the spear.
I raised the spear off the ground and tried once again to shoot it her way. As the weapon flew towards the maid, the demon placed the halo in front of it, boosting the speed of the spear once it passed through, yet once again, it was easily kicked away.
Tch!
I raised my left hand in frustration, creating yet another spear.
The maid stood still, waiting for me to prepare the weapon, and then when I swung the weapon at her, she barely even moved. All she did was shift her stance; by moving her right foot behind, she effortlessly avoided the first strike. I then made the weapon spin around and aimed for her neck.
This time she avoided the blade by doing a flip backwards, barely avoiding the blade, so I spun the blade a third time, this time aiming for her waist.
To avoid the third attack, she stopped in the middle of a backflip, standing on her hands, barely avoiding the blade; she then kicked both the spear I was controlling and the spear that the angel took over away.
I tried following her movements with my hand, but my weapon ended up clashing with the angel's, who was also chasing her.
What the fuck are you doing? Are you dumb?
I screamed at the angel in frustration.
Quickly the demon took over the transformation, covering my body in scales.
Pay attention to her demonic energy, moron!
The other demon shouted at me as he covered my body in thick scales, just in time to block her attack. I was sent flying back to the ground, landing on my back, injuring my wings. She had hit me on my neck with an invisible blunt attack; the scales she hit were shattered.
Her appearance didn't change, nor did she summon a demonic artifact to land that sneak attack.
You're lucky she isn't coming at you with the intent to kill; otherwise, you would've already been dead.
The demon repeated to me.
I don't need you to narrate back every little thing to me; I can see things just fine. Now lend me your power here. I need a weapon that can easily land hits. How about a rifle with homing projectiles?
If you think that is enough.
"Do it!" I shouted.
Stupid kid.
The demon did as I ordered; he sacrificed some of the scales in my newly grown tail to create a rifle in my hands. I wanted something that could fire a large amount of bullets in a short span of time, but what the demon created was a long and fairly large sniper rifle, almost too heavy for me to even lift.
I didn't have the time to scold the demon; I just raised the rifle, aimed it towards the maid, and pulled the trigger without even checking through the scope if I was aiming properly.
The recoil was so powerful it sent my shocks reverberating throughout my entire body; it also had shattered the scales around my shoulders.
The maid barely managed to deflect the bullet with what seemed to be a dagger she took out from under her skirt.
Give me something with less power; this thing might break my shoulder if I try to shoot another bullet!
God, you're so fucking insufferable!
The demon listened to my request and took off most of my scales to make a new weapon, a large machine gun, just like those I saw in my video games, with bullets longer than my fingers hanging outside contained in a dark box.
This weapon felt even heavier than the previous one; I couldn't lift it at all. I simply pointed the barrels at the sky and began shooting as many projectiles as I could while I was waiting for my wings to heal back.
I couldn't tell if my body was growing too tired to lift those weapons or if they were just that heavy; my hands were already trembling after creating 2 weapons, and the process to heal the wings and recreate the scale wasn't cheap either.
I was already out of breath, and no more than a couple of minutes had passed since we started this light sparring session.
I forced myself to enter the hybrid form as soon as the wings were back to their normal state.
I took off, creating a large square platform beneath me using the power of the angel. I raised it as quickly as I possibly could while the maid was too busy deflecting the unending wave of projectiles headed her way.
The sniper bullet was still roaming around; it hadn't lost momentum. Instead, it seemed to have gained more speed, but that power came at the cost of the bullet's ability to turn. The second time it clashed with her, it came from above and seemed to have left quite the impact on the maid, to the point she stopped trying to deflect it.
To my eyes, that bullet looked like a red line, constantly making large turns trying to hit.
Due to the powerful wind blowing at the time, I didn't raise the platform too high, just barely twenty meters off the ground.
That's when I felt a surge of demonic power coming from my right side, and when I turned to check it, I saw my uncle's containment facility surrounded by a bunch of portals.
Ohh, what's that?
Why don't you try shooting at it just to test it out? I'm sure nobody will even bother shooting back because of your mother.
I don't think it's a good idea. What if they're your uncle's customers?
The voice belonging to the demon was definitely tempting, but the angel was quick to intervene to stop me from being led astray.
You really shouldn't. That sounds like something between the nobles and your uncle; if you meddle in that, you could make the situation ten times more complicated for both his family and yours.
Then I heard the sounds of an explosion coming from that direction. Visible demonic energy was spread from that explosion, but no damage was left on the containment facility.
Well, the maid is too busy trying to deflect and dodge; I can probably shoot a couple of rounds in that direction. I wonder what… who I'm going to hit.
I lowered both the sniper rifle and the machine gun, created a wall behind them not to make them fly away due to their sheer amount of recoil, and began shooting in that direction. I kept shooting until the maid got to me.
She quickly pulled the weapon out of my hands, but it was too late; a large number of projectiles had already been shot.
"What are you doing, young master? The training session is not over yet; why are you getting distracted already?" She asked once she had taken the weapons out of my hands.
Then she looked at the direction I was shooting at, and suddenly her eyes widened; she let go of both of my weapons and simply stared at the many portals that were surrounding my uncle's island.
I could hear a gasp of air leaving her mouth as she realized what was happening.
I saw a beam of light coming from the portal headed towards us. The maid was quick to react, putting me over her shoulders and jumping down the large platform, all the while my mother split the laser beam in half with a single punch.
She had appeared out of nowhere, and within the blink of an eye, she had already positioned herself in front of us.
She then flew towards the island with an incredibly scary expression on her face. Seeing her being so worked up brought me some relief.
See? I told you your mother would take care of everything.
The demon spoke out the moment we safely landed on the ground.
"Are you okay, young master? Are you injured anywhere? Do you feel well?" The maid asked as she got on her knees, checking my every reaction as she began squeezing every inch of my body in search of possible broken bones.
No, you didn't; you said they wouldn't fight back.
I replied to the demon.
"Young master? Young master!" The maid's voice began to get increasingly more restless the longer I ignored her.
"I'm fine; you saw it yourself. Mom defended us before anything could happen." I replied to her to get her off my back.
Whatever!
The demon scoffed at me.
"Yeah! Whatever! You're right… we're wrong. You're such a good boy! Now stop talking; your voice is incredibly annoying to hear." I accidentally shouted at the devilish creature.
Ah, fuck!
"Who are you talking to, young master?" The maid asked while pinching my cheeks, stretching them apart playfully with her usual warm smile.
A cold, chilling sensation ran through my spine as I heard those words.
What? Did I really say that out loud? How am I going to explain myself?
You can't, no matter what you say. I bet she can even sniff lies with her heightened sense, but what's with the cat ears? Seriously, they're throwing me off.
The demon said as he sat over my head.
"No one." I answered as I looked away.
The demon then began laughing at me.
You look so guilty while saying that… You should work more on your poker face.
What's that?
Damn, really? Am I being too old? Or are you simply too sheltered?
"Then do you want to resume the training session?" She asked me.
"Huh?" I barely heard her question; it was hard to keep track of 2 different conversations at the same time.
She asked if you want to continue training.
No, thank you.
But I couldn't say that, so I simply stayed quiet.
"Hey." She began gently fondling my cheeks, sometimes forcing me to smile, sometimes stretching the area next to my eyes, forcing me to close them. She was fairly gentle with it but also somewhat annoying.
"Oiii, I've asked you a question? Do you want to resume the training session? I can keep a secret if you want." She whispered in a calm and gentle tone of voice; her gaze was still as calm and relaxed as ever. With her hands she was forcing me to keep my head facing her.
"Liar. I know whatever I tell you, you're going to repeat to mother." I corrected her previous statement.
"Well, if you want something to be kept a secret, you should make it clear first." She cheerfully answered.
"So will you keep it a secret no matter what?" I asked her.
"So long as it doesn't put your life in danger, I will keep my lips sealed." She assured me as she made a motion to zip up her mouth.
"How do I know you're telling me the truth? " I asked her as we watched red beams of energy flicker in the distance.
"…"
"You're just going to have to trust me on this one." She answered, winking at me.
"That doesn't sound convincing at all." I complained as I looked away from her.
"Are you going to do it? Or are we resuming the training session?" The maid asked me one more time, teasingly poking my right cheek using her index finger.
"That's unfair!" I complained.
"So, what will it be?" The maid asked with a devilish smile on her face.
