Chapter 87 - Change of routine

"Wow, this weapon is incredibly strong. How long does it last before it vanishes?" The maid asked as she kept eyeing the sniper rifle I made.

She could easily carry it with one hand, holding it by the barrel.

"Lasts? What are you talking about?" I took the chance to start bragging, even though I was exhausted. "Once it's made, it can't be undone. I can make even better weapons… probably, surely…" I answered.

You surely can't; I'm the one who made them. If I gave you the reins, at most you would end up with a pile of worthless scales.

Shut it.

"What?" The maid almost shouted; her eyes were wide open, her mouth was left hanging, and she let go of the weapon and let it fall out of sheer surprise. It was the first time I ever saw her lose her composure.

Ah, I can already tell; she must be shocked… heh! When in her life has she ever seen something like this…

The demon said as he was rubbing his hands in front of me; his devious smile was creeping me out.

I quickly undid the transformation to make him disappear. I almost fell to the ground immediately for how ridiculously weakened I was. My knees were trembling, barely even able to sustain my weight, and so were my hips.

"Don't worry, I got you." The maid said as she grabbed me before I could plant my face on the ground.

Strange… The demoing energy of the weapons was much less than the spiked ball, so why am I more tired than back then? I even used fewer scales. Is it because of the firepower? Are ranged weapons more expensive to make? How annoying.

"Do you mind if I try to use it?" She asked as she easily lifted the large machine gun; she was carefully inspecting it, taking out a few bullets to look at them up close.

"Sure, I don't mind… as long as you can lift it… It's not like I have much use for it; even in my transformed form I can barely lift it, so it's not that good of a weapon." I managed to respond while I was still gasping for fresh air.

"Then why didn't you make it lighter?" She asked immediately after, as she was now inspecting all the components of the sniper rifle.

You're expecting too much from me; these are my second and third weapons ever made… Cut me some slack.

"Because a weapon like that is too complex for me to make, so I had the demon make it. I only gave him a rough outline of the powers I wanted it to have. Since you were having trouble deflecting all of those bullets, I think he did a wonderful job." I responded as I leaned forward in fear of falling on my back.

"It's quite a powerful weapon, maybe a bit too powerful, young master. I think you should be careful when making these kinds of weapons, since they are not bound to you; they can easily be stolen and used for nefarious reasons." She suggested that she was massaging my legs.

Mph, that's a weapon; if it can't kill people, then it's useless.

"I was originally planning on letting the uncle sell these so that I get some money from this ability; I'm sure he would find buyers in no time." I said on the spur of the moment.

I didn't really think this idea through; I didn't even know if my uncle would've been willing to sell those or if he would've asked to make custom weapons for him and his children. But regardless of that, that answer seemingly upset the maid.

"Selling weapons is unbecoming of a noble." She commented as she began to head back home.

Huh? What are you talking about? It's because we sell weapons that we're even allowed to be here! Do you think we're the only ones that sell weapons?

I turned my head to get one last peek at all the portals being shattered by my mother's power. There were many bright explosions lighting up the whole island as screams of terror could be heard echoing in the distance.

"Uncle got rich selling weapons, and so can I," I responded.

Not only that, but I can also turn everyone holding those weapons into a demon that will be forever loyal to me, so there's no way this could potentially backfire on me.

The picture in my head was priceless: an army big enough to cover the land as far as the eye could see, marching towards us, weapons in hands, eager to end us all, and then me, standing in front of the family.

With a snap of my finger the entire battlefield would turn into chaos; some lucky ones would be able to quickly drop their weapons before they would start to assimilate their bodies, but that wouldn't have been enough, because now they had to survive against their friends who had fallen for such a trap.

We wouldn't even need to borrow Mom's powers with that ability; it was that powerful.

"Are you listening to my sincere words, young master?" The slightly annoyed sound of the male cat quickly brought me back to reality.

She had carried me back home, more specifically back to my room, where a dozen other maids were waiting.

Oh god, not this again.

I was thoroughly washed, to the point my entire body had turned bright pink, like a newborn mouse. They were careful enough not to leave any injuries but rough enough to not make it a pleasant experience despite the lack of pain.

I fell asleep when they started cutting my hair, and when I woke up, I was lying comfortably in my bed. The maids were spraying a nice perfume on me; it had a sweet smell, and it made the whole body relax. It wasn't something floral, and it wasn't pungent; it was almost addictive to smell.

"Did you have a pleasant nap, young master?" She asked me.

My vision was still blurry, my mind still felt a bit hazy, and my movements were sluggish. I looked up around me to see where she was but couldn't see her anywhere near me. The maids were intensely moving back and forth, removing a bunch of clothes from my wardrobe and filling it with new ones.

I ultimately found her standing in the corner of the room, just next to the door, to avoid inconveniencing all the other maids.

"Ugh, I still feel sleepy. Can I keep sleeping for some more time?" I asked as I tried turning around.

All the maids stopped me and held me pressed against the bed to stop me from even trying to turn a second time.

"No can do; some esteemed guests are predicted to visit us today; therefore—"

"Can you speak normally? Please don't try to mimic my father and his obsession to learn fancy words; it makes you look silly." I interrupted her while the many maids were applying makeup to my face.

I saw the maid tilt her face confused; she frowned at me for a while but decided to not argue with me.

"Our esteemed guests will arrive…"

Haaa! How annoying… How should I deal with this? I could escape. Yeah, they wouldn't dare wrinkle and ruin the outfit they spent so much time working on. No way in hell will I be forced to stay locked in the same room as that thing. Should I visit Leo?

I kept ignoring the other maid until it was time to get up. I tried to nonchalantly head towards the exit, but before I could make my way outside, I was picked up from behind. The cat-like maid had put her arm beneath mine and lifted me as if I were a kitten.

"Hey, put me down." I screamed as I tried to free myself, but her hands simply wouldn't budge.

I then tried to kick the wall to push myself away from her hands, but that also didn't work.

"Please cease your struggling, young master. The madam has ordered me to keep you here no matter what; if you keep struggling, I'll be forced to take more drastic measures to suppress you." She warned me as she began spinning around.

I don't care; leave me alone!

Once I became sick from the constant turning, she stopped and let me go. I immediately fell down; I was no longer spinning around, but the world around me hadn't stopped.

Ugh

I was about to puke as I fell to the ground, lying on my left side. The maid, in the meantime, had gotten ahold of my legs and began dragging me downstairs.

There, waiting for me, was an equally sleep-deprived me, Elena, barely able to keep her eyes open as she was being accompanied by her own entourage of maids. I noticed she too had a personal servant with an animalistic feature; he had gray hair, fluffy gray ears on top of his head, and green eyes.

Ohh? Is he related to the cat maid? Why are more hybrids popping up? Where did my mother even find them? No, it's probably best not to know.

"Can you tell me your name?" I asked the maid.

"Sure, once you grow up I may tell you if you grow up to be a chivalrous noble." She answered while smiling back at me, pinching my cheeks.

Ah, forget it then.
