Chapter 455 - We Don’t Abuse Survivors

The following morning.

Jason and his group packed their things, left the town, and headed toward the next location. But this time, Abraham had arrived with two modified RVs and three military Humvees.

Inside one of the modified RVs, Abraham was driving while Jason talked with Adam.

"So, you belong to an organization called the S.C.T.?"

"That's correct. Our main base is located in Alabama. This time we left the safe borders to search for survivors in Florida before we begin clearing out this place."

The night before, after reconsidering his original plans and with the approval of everyone in his group, Jason decided to invite these people to join them, and all of them agreed.

In his opinion, the organization behind Jason and the others had to be very powerful, and this morning, after seeing more than fifty heavily armed soldiers, it only reinforced those assumptions.

"Aren't there enough survivors in Alabama? Why are you going out searching for more survivors?" Emilia had put aside all hostility and asked naturally.

"Yes, we have very few people. Most of them are working or learning how to eliminate walkers, so we need more survivors."

"Hahaha, we certainly do have few survivors," Abraham said, letting out a loud laugh from the driver's seat.

Emilia was surprised when she heard this, then muttered quietly, "I thought there would be at least a few thousand people, but it turns out you're just a small group."

However, everyone on Jason's side laughed after hearing her words, making Emilia feel a little confused.

"What? Did I say something wrong?"

Glenn also shook his head with a smile and took the initiative to explain. "Our organization has thousands of people, and we control several locations. The reason Jason said everyone is very busy is because we're trying to reclaim control over more areas afterward…"

Adam and his group were shocked when they heard those words, and Emilia was even more stunned.

"What... what? Thousands of people?" Emilia kept looking at the crowd, but everyone appeared calm.

"Seriously, seriously!"

Not wanting to focus on this kind of subject, which was not convenient to discuss right now, Jason changed the topic. "You'll understand what we mean once we arrive at one of our bases…"

Jason was now focused on the people in Florida.

After a conversation, everyone discovered that these people did not know much about the nearby survivor community, but Adam had once heard about a large settlement of survivors that was supposedly organized by the military. However, there had been no news afterward, and he was not sure whether it was true or just a rumor.

"We'll check the nearest places first. That military-protected settlement you mentioned will be explored in due time."

Half an hour later, the convoy reached its next stop. In fact, Jason had been moving through areas where there was a large amount of water.

Of course, that did not mean a settlement could not exist without a water source. After all, there was underground water, but he still planned to check the areas near water first.

While the convoy advanced along the road, the vehicles suddenly shook violently, and then the front of one car tilted toward the side of the road. The massive inertia caught the larger vehicles in front by surprise, causing them to crash into another car.

Jason also jolted violently, his back slamming hard against the sofa, but he did not care about that and instead quickly reached out to catch Emilia, who was falling toward him.

Boom! Boom!

A violent explosion sounded from the other side of the RV, and a machine gun struck the RV's armor, producing a crackling noise.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Enemy attack!" Abraham shouted from the front as he stomped the pedal to stabilize the RV.

Jason quickly grabbed his long-range SCAR rifle, immediately stood up, and ordered his people, "Gentlemen, it looks like the time has come. Grab your weapons."

"Zz... Glenn, take twenty men to the side of the RV. The remaining Humvees, do what you need to do with the machine guns, but don't expose yourselves to the enemy and stay behind the other modified RV."

"Identify the number of enemies!"

"I need to know where they're attacking from!"

"How much longer will the armor hold?"

Jason had sharp eyes and immediately spotted the enemy. What surprised him was that it was a military Humvee, just like the ones in their convoy, but this Humvee appeared more reinforced than normal, even improving the flames. Obviously, there were several people inside the vehicle, sticking out through the firing ports.

"Abraham, I need the armor-piercing ammunition." Climbing onto the roof of the RV, Jason coldly stared at the vehicle in front of them.

At that moment, an opening suddenly extended from the roof of the opposing Humvee, followed by a somewhat distorted male voice.

"I'll give you one minute to hand over your supplies, or the next grenade goes straight into your RV…" The other side's tone was extremely arrogant, and everything indicated that this was their usual method of operation, making their behavior very obvious.

Abraham grabbed a megaphone and shouted, "We're gonna fuck you up real good, you goddamn sons of bitches! Today, you'll get a taste of what I've got for you!"

"Hey, hey, let me do the talking. Those bastards need to learn to respect me…" Abraham, who had climbed out through the back of the modified RV, continued shouting truly creative insults at the people on the other side.

"You heard him, we've got a bomb shoved up our ass, so none of you better try anything really stupid."

Glenn, who was standing behind Abraham with his hands on his hips, froze when he saw several soldiers holding Javelins and lining up behind the modified RV positioned sideways across the road.

"Hey, hey, do you think a tank is attacking us?" Glenn gestured for the soldiers not to blow the enemies to pieces.

"Should we call for air support?" One of the soldiers looked at Glenn with a cold expression.

"What? No, let's wait and see what our commander orders, but I think we need at least one of them alive."

Abraham, who was enjoying himself with the megaphone, said, "Yeah, my grandma gave me a grenade from World War One. I still wear it as a necklace, so you better not force me to use it."

"Yeah, no violence…" Abraham turned his gaze and widened his eyes. "Holy shit, what are you boys doing with those out already? Not yet, we brought those to shoot down birds, not abuse survivors."

"Oh, sir…"

Jason was fully aware that he could eliminate the enemy easily, but that was not how he operated.

At that moment, inside the Humvee on the opposite side, several people were crouching behind the vehicle, all armed and focused on the RV. The interior of the Humvee had obviously been remodeled, and fitting several more people inside was not a problem at all.

In the front passenger seat, a bearded man wearing sunglasses sat calmly with a cigarette in his mouth. The entire vehicle was filled with a suffocating smell of tobacco, but obviously the rest of the people did not care.

The bearded man looked at his watch and said without turning his head, "Time's up. Kill them."
