Chapter 456 - Is That All?

"Alright, enough with the nonsense. Drop your weapons and we'll spare your lives," Abraham finally said, wanting to give the other group a chance to survive.

But what he got in return was something he truly did not expect.

On the other side, several people in the back row of the Humvee pulled the trigger without hesitation, and a burst of bullets flew toward the modified RV at high speed.

Meanwhile, the bearded man calmly picked up a pair of headphones from beside him and put them on. Relaxing music came through the headphones, and the bearded man soon began nodding his head with narrowed eyes.

Inside the modified RV that was receiving all the bullet impacts, Adam stared forward with wide eyes, and suddenly his voice turned cold. Pointing at the Humvee shooting at them, he said in a voice trembling with rage, "These bastards are the ones who attacked us! They're the ones who killed more than a dozen people from our group!"

Adam, who had always remained silent, clenched his fists at that moment, and the fury in his eyes seemed ready to erupt in the next second.

"Sons of bitches, they followed us all the way here!" Emilia could not help cursing.

Adam remained fixed on those people, and if fury could kill, if something like that truly existed, he would have already taken revenge on them with the rage bottled up inside his chest.

Emilia, who had stood up from the sofa, curled back into it again, fear visible in her eyes as she looked at the metal monster outside. She was afraid that the modified RV would not be able to withstand so many bullets, and then what would happen to the group they had just joined?

Thinking of this, she could not help shouting, "Why the hell isn't anyone in your group firing back? If you don't return fire, those sons of bitches are going to kill us!"

"For fuck's sake, shoot back!"

Adam sat there without saying a word, holding his daughter in his arms, but the trembling of his legs clearly revealed his emotions. At that moment, he no longer had control over them.

Just as the newcomers were becoming angry because Jason was not firing back while others were growing fearful, a loud sound suddenly echoed inside the RV, and everyone saw numerous bullets fall to the floor.

And a few seconds later, powerful gunfire rang out.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The shots were fast, precise, and lethal, and in response, the group of twenty to thirty men ready to fire at the Humvee also opened fire.

The military Humvee that had been slowly approaching them was stunned by the sudden and overwhelming firepower coming from the RV in front of them and the people who emerged from behind it. The bearded man in the passenger seat also sensed that something was wrong at that moment. Instinctively, he looked to the side, only to witness a scene he would never forget in his life.

Since no one had been attacking them, he had ordered the vehicle to slowly advance to gain better control of the situation.

The driver's upper body exploded into thousands of pieces, like a smashed watermelon!

The armored glass shattered open, the seats were instantly soaked in blood, and the smell of gunpowder and chunks of flesh filled the inside of the Humvee.

The Humvee lost control instantly. The driver had slammed on the accelerator as a nervous reflex, and the vehicle lurched diagonally forward.

The bearded man reacted quickly, reaching out to grab the steering wheel and forcing the front of the Humvee straight again. He realized that things were starting to spiral out of control. Their vehicle was equipped with steel plating, and ordinary bullets could not penetrate it at all, yet what happened to the driver had occurred right before his eyes.

Which meant the enemy had anti-tank rounds or armor-piercing ammunition.

The bearded man realized this almost immediately and cursed nervously. After so long, he had finally gone out searching for the people who escaped from him earlier, only to run into a group with firepower equal to his own.

The moment the Humvee lost control, another bullet came flying from the front. There had only been a small window in front of the windshield where the driver sat, but now there was a violent impact, and another bullet struck the thick steel plate in front of him, leaving behind a hole the size of a wrist.

The bearded man's expression could no longer remain calm, and a thin layer of cold sweat covered his back and forehead. At that moment, he secretly felt fortunate that the vehicle had lost control, otherwise that bullet would have gone straight through his body.

However, his instinct to survive would not allow him to waste time, so he immediately turned the steering wheel again. The front of the Humvee tilted once more and, as expected, another bullet pierced through a steel plate, but this time there was no luck.

Just like the driver before him, the man operating the machine gun had his head blown apart by a bullet. The man's body collapsed, and blood sprayed everywhere, staining the interior of the vehicle.

The people who had gotten out looked at each other in fear. All of them were terrified of dying without warning in just a matter of seconds.

The bearded man ducked down, gripping the steering wheel tightly, and the Humvee skidded toward the side of the road at high speed before crashing into a large tree.

The moment the Humvee crashed, the man threw himself out of the vehicle and onto the ground.

"Ah, fuck!"

The force of the fall caused him to slam hard into the ground, and the sharp pain made him scream, but he ignored it and tried to stand up. However, a tearing pain shot through his back, making his attempt to rise painfully slow.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Every gunshot successfully killed another person, and after a while, the gunfire stopped. Jason coldly lowered the weapon in his hand and climbed down from the firing position.

"Abraham, bring some soldiers with me and have the others stay on guard!"

The battle had begun suddenly and ended extremely quickly. While Emilia was still thinking wildly, the battle was already over.

Watching Jason rush out of the vehicle with several men, she muttered to herself in confusion, "What just happened?"

Adam stared at the mangled Humvee with eyes full of fury. Picking up a machete that had fallen near the door, he rushed out.

After leaving the RV, everyone ran toward the back of the Humvee. Following Jason's gestures, they quickly crouched on the ground and aimed their weapons at the doors on both sides.

Jason, meanwhile, checked both sides and soon discovered that the passenger-side door was open, and a man dressed in dark clothing was lying in the forest not far away, seemingly trying to crawl forward.

"Now!"

The doors on both sides of the Humvee were kicked open, and the gruesome scene inside immediately came into view.

Because there had been no safety measures in place, several people had been thrown toward the doors during the collision, causing the two men in the front seats to die instantly. One man's head had become embedded in the backrest of the front row, while the other man's body was bent at a horrifying angle, seemingly dead from suffocation.

The other three were in slightly better condition, but they lay there groaning endlessly in pain.

Abraham and the others quickly restrained the three survivors, then let out sighs of relief.

Jason, on the other hand, walked toward the man in the forest.

Hearing movement behind him, the bearded man knew he had been found this time, so he tightened his grip on the weapon in his hand, pretended to be exhausted, and collapsed onto the ground while breathing heavily. His body rose and fell with each breath, making it look from behind as though he was severely injured and on the verge of death.

"Alright, stop pretending. I know you're not dead," Jason warned coldly. The weapon in his hand switched to burst-fire mode, making it clear that if the man made a move, he would be riddled with bullets.

The bearded man cursed inwardly, hid the hand holding the weapon behind his back for support, and painfully pushed himself halfway upright.

"Raise your hand, now!" Jason warned, giving the man absolutely no opportunity, while aiming his weapon at the side of the man lying on the ground.

Whether from pain or nervousness, the bearded man's forehead was covered in sweat, and the mud all over his body made him look utterly miserable.

The hand behind him trembled slightly, and the weapon slipped from his grasp. The metal fell silently into the mud, and then he slowly raised both hands.

Looking at the bearded man's expression, Jason's thoughts became clear.

Just moments ago this man had pretended to be dead. Now he was acting obedient with a gun pointed at his head. Anyone with half a brain could tell that the bearded man had bad intentions.

Jason ignored it and slowly walked to the side, intending to get a better look at the motionless man's face. After taking two steps, the man sitting on the ground began muttering something.

As Jason moved closer to the front of the seated man, he became more alert, but he did not stop. The moment he took the third step, the bearded man shoved his right hand into his vest while simultaneously rolling his body to the side.

When he turned to face Jason, there was already something in his hand.

"Die!" In the next second, the bearded man raised a pistol and shouted as if trying to gather courage.

But Jason was faster. He quickly shifted his weight onto his left leg and used his right to kick the bearded man's hand, knocking the pistol out of his grip.

Bang! Boom!

Jason stepped forward and kicked away the weapon that had fallen to the ground, then bent down and searched him, making sure the other party had no additional weapons before ordering him to stand up.

"Jason, what happened? Are you alright?" Abraham's nervous voice soon rang out as he ran over to Jason's side, and after checking the situation, he finally relaxed.

"It's nothing…"

...

Ten minutes later.

The four surviving men were lined up beside the destroyed Humvee, with more than a dozen weapons aimed at them. Their arrogance and dominance had long vanished, and all of them sat there with lowered heads, emotionally broken.

Only the bearded man still kept his head raised. Although the severe pain in his back made him groan, he still spoke to Jason in a forceful tone.

"You'd better let us go, or our organization will find you soon, and you won't be able to escape when that happens!"

Jason looked at the man and thought that everyone who got captured seemed to follow the same script.

"Oh? Really? Then can you explain why this thing was found beside your seat and apparently it's turned off?"
