Chapter 15 - Chapter 13: A Day on Pandora part 1

Lyra had directed the Phantom to land close, yet far enough away from Fyrestone, atop a mountain.

Using the Nanomachines and Drones I had on the ship, she would be able to create that mountain into my long term habitable base kf operations here on Pandora. If Handsome Jack could create Control Core Angel as a defensive fortress for Angel's prison, then who says I can't do the same and have a literal Fortress here.

In addition, regarding ny knowledge, there is a ton of Eridium available to me deep underground, it only needs a opportunistic mind to develop mining operations once the time is right.

The heat of Pandora was not like the climate controlled warmth of Aurix 9. It was a hot climate like that of Earth's Asia everday heat. But worst off it was a dry, choking furnace that tasted of oxidized metal.

I was absolutely not going to be able to tolerate this for long; I will most definitely keep my armour equipped at all times. I will positively not breath in the gunk air of Pandora unless filtered.

As I trekked through the wasteland outside Fyrestone, the sun beat down on my armor, but I barely felt it.

My suit has a built-in HUD, which lets me monitor and has all the necessary information displayed in my helmets visor.

I had purposely designed it to be reminiscent to Borderlands style game HUD, except the Health Bar is not fully accurate, it has more of heartbeat scanner so it can check my vitals and beneath that is a yellow bar indicating my Endurance and stamina before im exhausted.

Below that even is a % of my suit's structural integrity and a small display of my body so it can highlight which areas are damage and which are fine.

Objective and goal reminders as normal provided by Lyra in the top left. A minimap provided from known scans and seen visual data in the top right.

Compass at the top and ammunition in the bottom right.

Along with a range of essential and time based skills and abilities on cooldown at the bottom.

Yes I do have cooldowns on certain abilities, and they are realistically needed.

For example a Pulse Scan, I can't just spam that out since the scan needs to spread across the surroundings, absorb that data and Lyra organises it, and if I spammed it, then multiple hundreds of scans would overlap each other and would cause alot of errors and problems on feedback information.

I have a Stealth Mode that can be activated and naturally it would use up alot of energy, it has a preset duration already. Though if I choose to I can extend it indefinitely if I choose to bypass it on purpose when needed. However, the energy consumption would naturally be quite large.

And one of my favourites is my Nanomachines helping me in combat.

I could have my Nanomachines become bullets and when they are fired and scatter across the battlefield, they would dissolve and return back to me ready to become the next bullet allowing for infinite ammunition.

Furthermore, the coolest part is that I wanted to be edgy, powerful and cool while I looked the part. So in combat when I am using certain attacks or using my HF Muramasa blade, the Nanomachines would form a construct of a Chinese Shen Loong Dragon that would trace the arc of my attacks and strike the target or area, both in a spectacular and devastating display.

And if the HF Muramasa sounded familiar, that's because it does. It is the High-Frequency (HF) Muramasa blade that Jetstream Sam uses in Metal Gear Rising Revengeance.

"Lyra, Scan the entire region, permission to deploy the Scanning Beacons." I ordered.

"Processing..." her voice whispered directly into my ears through the helmet. "I am highlighting potential ambush points and thermal signatures that deviate from natural geological formations. Warning: terrain instability detected approximately two hundred meters northeast."

A transparent grid flickered across my HUD, painting certain areas in shades of amber and crimson. The maps I had purchased were good they showed the bones of the planet but they were dead data. With the Scanner Beacons deployed, Lyra would soon be able to fill in all those areas with detailed information.

I crouched behind a jagged outcropping of sandstone, peering through my enhanced optics. Below, in a shallow ravine, three Bandits were moving with the lazy confidence.

One was dragging a rusted ammunition crate; another was picking at something between his teeth. The third carried a modified assault rifle, scanning the horizon with bored, bloodshot eyes.

One bandit stumbled, cursing loudly, while another laughed at his partner only to receive a punch to the face.

This was my first encounter with what would eventually become my norm. So while others would think this is being too overprepared, Batman taught one thing, always be prepared and you'll become as terrifying like a demon straight from Hell.

I shadowed them for an hour, yes an hour until they returned back to their base. I left a few hundred tiny surveillance bots, these had actual value in them and investment so losing just one meant they needed to be fully rebuilt and calibrated which was a pain

"Lyra, start marking patrol routes and locations of the local 'hostile' population. And start you're own scouting of further areas towards New Haven. And find the location of the Vault of the Destroyer." I muttered, tapping my wrist display. "Also find out the local wildlife, primarily Skag, migration patterns in this sector."

"Cross referencing... Skag activity is elevated three kilometers south. Suggest avoiding the ravine during sunset hours. Numerous 'Badass' Skags of varying elements reside in the ravine along with a dense amount of a unknown energy type.

"Oh? Scan it and show me the energy readings." Now I was intrigued, could it be Eridum. If it is in the ravine it's highly possible given it could be closer to the source underground.

Lyra needed a sample in order to fully analyse it, but based on the information already available, I definitely believe it is Eridum in its raw form.

That would explain why so many elemental Skags exist down there.
