Thomas Fisher didn't say anything more, focusing instead on his breakfast. He wasn't afraid of being late to the office himself but was worried that she would be late and, more importantly, upset because of it.
Although she wasn't a petty person, she took her work very seriously. If she was late because of him, there was a good chance she would get angry.
Thomas quickly finished the porridge in his bowl and, once satisfied, pulled Alice Turner along as they headed out the door.
It was the morning rush hour, and the elevator was already crowded.
Concerned that there might be people who knew Thomas, Alice struggled to withdraw her hand from his grasp, but he refused to release it, holding her hand firmly.
She glanced discreetly at the people around them and it seemed there was no one who knew him. Her anxious heart gradually settled, though she still didn't let her guard down completely.
