Chapter 363: "Gu Yue, Come and Dual Cultivate with Me" A Hint from the Law of Fate
During their previous battle, Han Li hadn't had time to think about it, but now that he recalled it, Gu Yue's Silver Dragon King form seemed like a fusion of Eastern and Western dragon aesthetics. Beautiful, no doubt, but it still gave him the same stitched together feeling as his own divine armor.
Honestly, when the time came for them to stand against the Divine Realm, it really did look like their side had all the villain aesthetics.
"What are you thinking about?"
Having spent so much time with Han Li, Gu Yue had developed an uncanny ability to sense whenever his thoughts turned impolite.
She had already finished repairing the space around them after their fight and was now glaring at him with an unfriendly look. The green glow of creation energy flickered across her body, healing the wounds left by his Sinister Hook.
"Nothing much. Your true form is quite beautiful. By the way, does your human form count as a shapeshift?"
Han Li had already reabsorbed his armor for further refinement and now looked at Gu Yue with curiosity. This was something he was genuinely interested in.
Gu Yue paused for a moment, not sure why he was asking, but still answered, "Unlike Di Tian and the others, my humanoid form and my true form are both innate. Either can be considered my true body, but my dragon form allows me to exert my full strength."
"Oh, I see."
Han Li nodded thoughtfully.
That made sense she was, after all, a being born from the Silver Dragon King's split essence, essentially a manifestation of the Dragon God's hidden creative divinity.
While she had inherited the bloodline, she was actually more similar to figures like the Asura God and the others beings formed from pure universal energy, except she was shaped from the Dragon God's body and benevolent will. A rather unique case.
"I understand your situation now. If you're able to use your godhood ascension as an opportunity to break into the realm of God King, your divine body will grant you some advantage in one on one combat against the other God Kings but only just that."
"Setting aside law manipulation, if they wield their divine weapons, you may not be able to match them."
Gu Yue spoke calmly, giving him a word of caution.
Han Li's growth speed was terrifyingly fast. Now that she had more confidence in him, she actually hoped he would delay things as much as possible, prolonging his exposure to the Divine Realm's sight.
"Mm."
Han Li nodded, not disagreeing with her. Logically speaking, she was right but of course, he wouldn't reveal everything to her just yet.
He had been preparing for this for far too long, and his ambitions extended far beyond this.
Who said breakthroughs couldn't happen in succession?
Gu Yue frowned slightly but chose not to press further. She could tell Han Li was hiding many things, and he wasn't even trying to conceal that fact. But he still refused to trust her completely.
And now, he had caught up to her strength wise while still holding the initiative in their alliance. She was in no position to demand answers.
She could only hope his preparations were thorough enough.
After all, things couldn't possibly get any worse than they already were, right?
Hadn't she already made her decision?
Or was she simply being affected by his absurd rate of improvement?
Gu Yue mocked herself internally.
"Besides testing, do you have any other business?"
She was feeling unexpectedly irritable and wanted to get rid of him.
"Of course."
Han Li glanced at Gu Yue, noticing her sudden shift in tone. He assumed she was still sulking about their fight and didn't take it seriously.
"What is it?"
Gu Yue hadn't expected her attempt to send him away to actually prompt him to bring up something else.
Then again, if it were truly important, he would have said so earlier, right?
Casually, she pointed toward the exit of the recovery space.
"If it's nothing major, you can just talk to Di Tian. Didn't I already give you a token?"
As she spoke, she suddenly paused.
Now that she thought about it, the Reverse Scale necklace she had given Han Li last time wasn't even that important.
Her expression remained cold, but internally, she grew even more annoyed.
Why had she acted so impulsively after their soul fusion?
By the time she came to her senses, Han Li had already left, and she hadn't been able to bring herself to ask for it back.
Huh? Talk to Di Tian?
Han Li was momentarily stunned by her response, his train of thought completely derailed.
Wait, he hadn't even said what the issue was yet why was she rejecting him already?
Leaving aside the fact that Di Tian was male, which Han Li instinctively couldn't accept, Di Tian also hadn't advanced far enough to comprehend the laws. He was still far from reaching even the lowest tier of godhood.
He hadn't even touched the threshold.
"Di Tian is definitely not up to the task. Otherwise, why would I be coming to you?"
Han Li didn't know what was going through her mind, but he dismissed her suggestion outright.
"At least hear me out first."
He stopped the irritable Silver Dragon Queen before she could snap again and continued, "This is beneficial for you as well."
"Since my last breakthrough, my affinity with various laws has deepened even further. So, let's dual cultivate again. I need access to all the laws you command, and in return, you can use this opportunity to further your understanding of creation energy."
Han Li, without a trace of shame, extended his invitation to dual cultivate.
Last time, he had been reluctant, but for the sake of improving his strength, he figured it wasn't too much of a sacrifice.
After all, they had already done it once. Once or a hundred times what was the difference?
He told himself that.
It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he no longer resisted Gu Yue.
Yes, he was certain of that.
"...Huh?"
This time, it was Gu Yue who was stunned.
She clearly remembered that even after their previous session, despite the benefits Han Li had gained, there had been a faint trace of rejection in him. Plus, he had left quickly afterward, so she had dismissed the idea entirely.
But now... why was he the one taking the initiative?
She had only just barely rebuilt the mental barriers she had abandoned before, and now he was telling her there was no need to mend them just continue?
"Yeah, you heard me right. Let's continue last time's cultivation. This benefits both of us, doesn't it? Don't you want to grasp the power of Creation even faster? If you can progress further, it will help the soul beast race as well, won't it?"
Han Li met her gaze and reinforced his point.
Gu Yue stared at him for a long moment but couldn't discern any particular emotion. Then, without a word, she turned and walked toward the Lake of New Life she had created herself.
No refusal meant agreement.
Han Li was not foolish enough to push for verbal confirmation he simply followed along.
Without any further conversation, they stopped at the lakeside, where the two chairs Han Li had left last time remained quietly in place.
"For the next session, let's alternate our insights. We'll start with the comprehension of Creation."
Han Li glanced at Gu Yue and took the initiative to suggest.
It didn't matter who went first it was all beneficial to him in the end. There was no need to be overly particular.
Since he had made the proposal, he would let her go first. Either way, all the knowledge would eventually return to him. Once Gu Yue exhausted her soul force, there was no way she could assimilate new laws faster than him. Being drained of her understanding was only a matter of time.
At that point, they wouldn't have to dual cultivate as frequently, freeing up more of his time to study other laws. No matter how he looked at it, he wouldn't lose out.
Moreover, by prioritizing her comprehension of Creation, he could move on to its opposing force Destruction. Once he mastered the simplest elemental laws, he intended to test whether he could interact with Destruction through its natural opposition to Creation.
Though he hadn't touched the Law of Destruction before, he could now borrow it through his "obedient child" his connection with the Douluo plane. Gaining basic entry wouldn't be difficult, but progress beyond that would slow considerably. He had no guarantee that he could fully master it before the final battle.
But if Gu Yue advanced in Creation at the same time, that might change.
This was a plan he had formulated after his mastery of the Law of Fate reached 70%.
For their next cultivation session, Han Li intended to leverage his authority over the Douluo Plane to guide Gu Yue, accelerating her comprehension of Creation.
Then, through their soul fusion, he would absorb her progress. Using Fate as a lever, he could similarly tap into Destruction and rapidly bring himself up to the same level.
This was a unique cultivation method, or rather, it was the shortcut the Law of Fate had revealed to him.
And now, Gu Yue the Silver Dragon King, still unaware of her full potential was being influenced by Han Li to begin training in Creation tens of thousands of years ahead of schedule.
She might very well be the key to his rapid ascension.
This was an opportunity Han Li would seize without hesitation.
Of course, if she refused, he could always resort to the classic "You wouldn't want that, would you?" persuasion tactic.
Fortunately, it didn't seem like she was rejecting the idea.
Han Li glanced at Gu Yue, who had silently taken a seat, and took a deep breath before reaching out to hold her hand.
No need for further discussion just get on with it.
Her hand was cold.
That was Han Li's first impression.
Then, as if sensing his thoughts, Gu Yue's grip tightened slightly, and a surge of divine power and soul energy rushed into his body, merging with his own, just like before. A barrier of interwoven silver and crimson energy enveloped them.
But unlike last time, Han Li's soul force was now nearly equal to Gu Yue's only slightly weaker, but negligible at this point.
This allowed him to perceive her memories more deeply than before.
This time, he didn't seal his past memories. Instead, the Law of Fate automatically acted as a barrier, allowing Gu Yue to see only his recent recollections. Anything related to his past life or the Douluo Plane's consciousness remained off limits.
Even so, Han Li could sense her satisfaction.
It was much better than last time when she could only perceive surface level emotions and fleeting thoughts.
Indeed, the "foot in the door" principle applied well here.
Having gained experience from their previous session, Han Li cleared his thoughts and actively enveloped her soul, guiding the threads of the Law of Creation in a way she could comprehend.
This time, things would be completely different.
Recalling the experiment he had conducted earlier, Han Li smiled.
Before Gu Yue's astonished eyes, a blade of Blue Silver Grass materialized in the air.
