Chapter 239 - The Night he Kept Silent

The cliff was silent. The wind was soft. The night was theirs. Mirshad and Sophia sat close together beneath the starlit sky, the moon shining gently above them. The city lights blinked far below, but up here—it felt like they were the only two souls alive. Sophia smiled, resting her head on his shoulder.

"I wish this night would never end," she whispered.

Mirshad gently kissed her forehead and replied softly, "Sometimes, the quietest nights hide the loudest storms."

Suddenly, his body stilled.

His eyes sharpened.

His senses screamed.

Footsteps. Quiet. Fast. Dozens.

Enemies.

Mirshad's face shifted. Calm vanished. His gaze turned cold.

He slowly pulled off the Sirius ring and looked at Sophia.

Without a word, he slid the ring onto her finger.

"Sirius," he said in a light, playful voice, masking his alertness, "protect her."

Sirius replied instantly, "Activating full-protection mode."

Her entire body was suddenly covered in a sleek black suit, glowing faintly with protection shields. She gasped, confused, but before she could speak—Mirshad placed his finger on her lips.

"Don't move. Don't look back. Trust me."

From the woods… they came.

More than a hundred men. Armored. Armed. Deadly.

One of them spoke, "No mask? No sword? Just a hoodie? This will be easy."

Another laughed, "We kill gods now too."

Mirshad stepped forward.

"You brought weapons… I brought myself."

They didn't understand.

Then he vanished.

The first man didn't even realize he was dead until his spine shattered.

The second had his weapon bent into his skull.

The third screamed before his jaw was ripped off.

No sound of struggle. Only death.

The night wind carried blood.

Sophia—trapped in the Sirius suit—could only hear muffled horror. Then silence. Long, terrifying silence.

Until only one remained. The leader.

Bleeding. Shaking. Alone.

He stammered, "You don't have a weapon."

Mirshad stepped out from the darkness, hoodie soaked in blood.

"My weapon is me."

He rammed his hand through the man's chest and pulled out his beating heart.

The leader's eyes widened… then closed.

Mirshad turned toward a group of stray dogs nearby, tossed the heart casually.

"It's fresh. Eat well."

He walked back to her.

"Sirius," he said, soft again, "release her."

The suit vanished.

She collapsed to her knees and vomited. Tears welled in her eyes.

"You... you tore his heart out... while he was alive..."

He knelt beside her, wiping her back.

"He came for you. What else should I do?"

He helped her stand.

She whispered, "You're not human..."

He smiled faintly, "Maybe not. But I'm still yours."

He walked to the river nearby, washed his bloodied hands, and returned.

"Let's go home."

They walked back to the car. She stayed quiet.

As they drove, the stars followed.

"Don't tell anyone," he said. "Not now. They're happy. Let them be."

She nodded. But in her heart, she knew—

She had seen the devil.

And he wore the face of the man she loved.
