Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: A New Hunter

Back at the Guardians' operations center, Nara and Jin-woo listened intently to our report on the warehouse. They were particularly interested in the new types of Troubles and the Dark Fragments we'd found.

"We've never seen anything like this," Nara said, examining the fragments under a microscope. "The composition is unknown. But the energy signature... matches what we detected at the factory."

"This confirms our suspicions," Jin-woo added. "Someone or something is creating these new Troubles, or at least modifying them."

I told them about the strange burst of energy I'd felt during my fight. Nara and Jin-woo were intrigued, but couldn't offer an immediate explanation. "It could be another facet of your abilities," Nara suggested. "Or perhaps... something else."

As we discussed our findings, the scene shifted to another part of the city, to a dark, damp alley. A tall, thin young man with an intense gaze and disheveled hair was moving nimbly among the garbage containers. It was Kim Yoon-sung.

Yoon-sung wore a long, worn jacket and leather gloves that concealed his hands. He was alone, as always, patrolling the streets in search of Troubles. His ability was different from mine and Min-ah's. He could manipulate plasma, generating powerful bursts of energy from his hands.

At that moment, a Trouble appeared at the end of the alley. It was one of the more common types, a tall, skeletal creature with sharp claws. Yoon-sung stopped in his tracks, his eyes fixed on the threat.

The Trouble lunged at him with a guttural howl. Yoon-sung didn't flinch. He raised his hands, and a glowing sphere of plasma began to form between his palms. The energy crackled and sparked, illuminating his face with an intense light.

With a swift motion, Yoon-sung launched the plasma sphere at the Trouble. The impact was devastating. The creature was engulfed in an explosion of light and energy, and its body disintegrated into ash in a matter of seconds.

Yoon-sung lowered his hands, his breathing ragged. He looked at the wreckage of Trouble with a grim expression. There was no satisfaction in his victory, only a deep weariness and palpable loneliness.

He had been fighting the Troubles on his own for a long time. He didn't trust anyone and preferred to work alone. He'd had bad experiences in the past with other Marked and the authorities, which had led him to stay in the shadows.

As Yoon-sung walked away from the alley, unaware that a few kilometers away other Marked were beginning to unite to confront the growing threat, a shadow moved atop a nearby building, watching him intently. It was a hooded figure, whose identity remained hidden. The fate of these Marked, unbeknownst to them, was beginning to intertwine in the darkness of the city.
