Luke Land and Eva Miller arrived together at the restaurant Asher Land had reserved, only to find that Asher and Sophie Smith had been waiting for quite some time.
"Sorry for the wait, Sophie, President Land. We apologize for keeping you," Eva swapped her gloomy mood from home for a beaming smile as if she were overflowing with joy. Luke, looking at her, couldn't tell how much of her happiness was real and how much was feigned.
Luke took her coat, set it aside, and pulled out a chair for her to sit as if it were his most natural reaction.
Across from them, Asher and Sophie exchanged a glance but said nothing.
Asher handed a gift box to Eva.
"Congratulations on your wedding."
Eva was a bit flattered, not expecting Asher to have prepared a gift for her.
Looking at the gift box, she could tell it was quite expensive.
Eva hesitated, uncertain if she should accept it.
