[3rd POV]
"Magic. Anything magic" Riveria replied instantly, no hesitation as she locked eyes with Wanda. Wanda raised an eyebrow at her words.
"You have to be a bit more specific than that, Riveria. There are thousands of different types of magic books being sold in this shop. Do you want defensive magic? Offensive magic? Ritual magic? Blood magic? Dark Magic? Nature Magic? Demonic magic? Divine magic?" Wanda continued on and on as the woman listened.
Loki perked up at the mention of divine magic.
"Divine magic? You sure you should be selling that to mortals?" Loki asked, having an idea of what divine magic was.
"Hmm? Oh no it won't cause any harm. In the case of divine magic, this version of it isn't harmful at all for the mortal that uses it. As it is called "Divine" because it involves invoking the Gods to call down a specific effect. Such as smiting someone with lightning by calling upon Zeus, or calling upon the flames of Surtr" Wanda explained to the woman.
She noticed Loki flinch at the mention of Surtr, as Wanda realized that they did indeed have some very real connections to the bringer of Ragnarok. She knew that Ragnarok was not truly a thing in Danmachi, not in the mythological sense at least.
"How does that work exactly? Calling upon the power of the Gods?" Finn asked, finally coming down from all the shocking pieces of information that she had dropped on him. It wasn't everyday that you heard about wine made of stars, or of calling upon the divine power of Gods themselves.
"You are basically "Asking" them for permission to use their domain. But it's not just their domain you are using, you are using a small tiny tiny sliver of their divinity, so minuscule that they won't even notice before it regenerates. But to a normal mortal? It could make that attack many times stronger" Wanda explained, before continuing.
"That is the case in its home universe. In your universe? I am not entirely sure how it would work to be frank. Divinity in your universe is...far far far weaker than the one that this is from" Wanda finished, as Loki raised an eyebrow.
"How much weaker are we talking?"
"The Gods in that universe can obliterate stars, while the peak of them could probably annihilate a solar system. The latter is the case for people like Zeus, Odin, Shiva, and the God Kings. The Primordials there are capable of destroying the universe. And the peak of that universe, Lady Khaos, is capable of simply thinking the universe away, and creates universes on a whim" Wanda answered the Goddess.
Loki whistled at that.
"Damn. We Gods are pretty damn strong, but not that strong. The peak of us, the primordials, could probably destroy a star without much difficulty, but a universe? Yeah, only Khaos can do shit like that" Loki replied, agreeing that they were far weaker.
"So what sort of effect would that have on divine magic?"
"It would just make it weaker is all. I can't see it making much of a difference, as that universe in general is more dangerous than yours. At least, for the most part" Wanda said, as Riveria finally cut in.
"Well, I was hoping to find books on all magics. But...blood magic and dark magic sound a little..." "Creepy?" Loki finished her sentence, getting a nod from her.
"Oh it most certainly can be. But it matters what version of blood magic and dark magic you are interested in. Blood magic can involve the manipulation of blood, which makes it very simple. Whereas another darker version involves dark rituals with blood that can curse someone's entire family line for thousands of years" Wanda said, before continuing.
"Dark magic is largely the same. But, in most iterations it's primarily "Dark" because it is heavily in tune with emotions. So if the user of the magic does not have proper control over their own emotions, then the magic can corrupt them, thus, making it dark" Wanda explained, as Riveria just looked even more interested.
"And this darkness, it can be counteracted and controlled?"
"Mmhmm, with enough mental resilience and self control, it would be relatively easy to fight off the corruption. The truly dangerous dark magic books are labeled as such, and are only sold to those that can sufficiently protect against the mental corruptive influence" Wanda responded to the woman, who seemed happy to hear this.
"As interesting as that is, is dark magic something that Riveria can use?" Loki asked, already having an idea what the answer would be.
"She could, technically. But I would suggest against it. Elves are...not exactly in line with darker magics. I'd suggest nature magic, divine magic, or offensive magic for her. Enchanting or Warding would also be great" Wanda responded.
"Warding?"
"It's essentially the process of "Enchanting" a specific area, using runes or something similar. This can then apply various effects to that area, such as warding against curses, warding against intruders, warding against certain types of magic, and more" Wanda answered Finn, who looked very interested in the idea of wards.
Wards were damn strong, and when used, could and should stop anyone from entering their home without permission.
"So sort of like an offshoot of enchanting?"
"In a way, yes. Is that something you would be interested in?" Wanda asked, as the two mortals nodded rapidly.
Having wards could be huge for the protection of the familia at large. And could protect against any forms of attacks from the outside.
"Absolutely. Wards sound like the perfect defense against outside invaders. In fact, I am pretty confident that any and all familia's would want access to the books on wards. If it could stop outsiders from attacking their homes, it could help a lot with certain...conflicts that can arise" Finn explained.
"Well, the ward books are currently glowing a light blue if you are interested. I've also taken the liberty to mark the other books. Offensive magics are orange, blood magic is red, defensive magics are dark blue, divine magic is gold, demonic magic is black, nature magic is green, dark magic is purple, ritual magic is yellow, and the other magics are largely the same colors" Wanda said, as they noticed the nearby bookshelves beginning to glow a rainbow of colors mattering on the type of magic.
"Great! I'm going to go and see if there is anything that is applicable and usable by the familia" Riveria said, as Finn gave her a short nod and began to walk off. He had moved towards the martial arts section instead of the magic one, finding the idea of new sword styles, combat techniques, and more, to be very interesting and potentially useful.
Loki watched her two strongest familia members with a small snort.
"They're going to be there for hours, I hope you know" Loki said, as Wanda chuckled.
"I already expected as much. It's fine though, I get customers that do this all the time" Wanda said, not bothered by it at all. The longest a customer had been in her shop, had been around 6 hours. And that was because they had been studying extensively for a test, which was for gaining a PHD in their area. So it was only natural they would need to study a ton.
"Really? How many customers do you get here?"
"Hundreds a day. It's connected to like a dozen different universes. I'd get more if I wasn't restricting where the door appears to a few places" Wanda replied with a shrug, as she brought out one of her newer books and began to flick through it, while Loki glanced back at her two familia members and then at Wine.
"How much for a bottle of that multiversal wine you were talking about earlier?"
"Hmmm, I'll say 10 million valis" Wanda responded after a few moments of thought. 10 million valis was equivalent to around 60 thousand US dollars. It cost this much for some very obvious reasons.
Loki raised an eyebrow at the price.
"That's a lot cheaper than I was expecting to be honest. But alright, I'll get you the valis next time we come back" Loki said, not minding the price at all. She was fully prepared to pay hundreds of millions of valis for the wine, given it would grant her a new domain, and was effectively priceless.
With that, Loki walked off to join her two familia members, all the while Wanda had one thought on her mind.
'She's a lot more chill than I was expecting'
