Zoe's POV
Brandon stood there for only a second after his words sank in, but somehow it felt like forever. Then he turned and walked away. I watched him leave, tears blurring my vision and my chest tightening painfully, making it feel impossible to breathe. Every step he took away from me felt final, heavy—like something breaking.
"Brandon…" I whispered weakly, but the words never made it past my lips. He didn't look back. And the worst part? He was right.
A sob escaped me before I could stop it. "He's right," I cried, shaking my head as tears rolled freely down my cheeks. "God… he's right."
Garrett stepped closer. "Zo—"
"I've been horrible to him." My voice cracked badly. "How could I believe Casey over him? Brandon never gave me a reason to doubt him." My throat burned. I wiped my face furiously, but the tears refused to stop. "I'm so stupid," I whispered harshly to myself. "So stupid."
