Brandon's POV
The world had become complete noise.
Blue and red lights washed over everything in violent flashes, painting the front of the hotel in shifting colors that made faces look strange and unreal. Sirens screamed in the distance, though I couldn't tell if they belonged to the cars already outside or the ones still arriving.
People crowded the front entrance now.
Too many people.
Guests.
Staff.
Strangers.
Curious eyes.
Whispering mouths.
Everyone stood around like spectators waiting for the next act of a show they hadn't paid for.
Phones were up.
Of course they were.
Screens glowed in the darkness.
People recording.
People pointing.
People already gossiping.
I could almost hear tomorrow's headlines being written.
I stood in the middle of it all and somehow felt nowhere.
Like I wasn't even inside my own body anymore.
Like I was watching myself from somewhere far away.
Seth stood a few feet away.
Still.
Silent.
His face had gone pale.
