"Nooo!" Jasmine whined immediately, rushing forward to hold my arm. "We didn't mean it like that!"
"Yes, Mom, we were just joking," Hanith added quickly, trying to look innocent.
I looked at them for a moment, trying to keep a straight face, but I could already feel my lips twitching. "Hmm," I said slowly. "I don't know… calling me an old woman is a serious offense."
Aaron chuckled softly beside us, clearly enjoying the whole scene. "I think they might need to apologize properly," he said, folding his arms as he watched them.
The twins looked at each other, then back at me, and almost at the same time.
"Sorry, Mom," they said together, their voices softer now.
I held their gaze for a second longer, then finally smiled. "Better," I said. "Now, let's go before I change my mind."
They cheered instantly, grabbing onto Aaron as they pulled him toward the door, their laughter filling the room again.
