Jasmine was giggling uncontrollably, her laughter echoing in the air. Hanith was a little more serious, but his grins betrayed his determination. Every time I thought I was close, they'd swerve left or duck behind a tree, their tiny feet light on the grass. I lunged for Hanith once, and he spun around, narrowly avoiding my reach.
"Ha! You missed me, Mommy!" he shouted, running faster.
I groaned, wiping the sweat from my forehead even though it wasn't hot. "You're lucky you're small, otherwise this would be a lot easier!"
Jasmine zoomed past me, reaching my side and tapping my arm with lightning speed. "Out! You're out, Mommy!"
I froze immediately, counting slowly in my head. "One… two… three… four… five," I said, then shouted, "Okay! I'm back in the game!"
