On the other side of the sea, in a certain clan, a man was sitting staring at a picture of a beautiful girl in a long dress. He missed her and had searched for her for twenty-three years to no avail. This year, somebody told him that he had seen the same picture at a cemetery where he had accompanied a friend to pay respect to their dead parents. He flew over and confirmed it himself that it was indeed her. All these years, he had held hope that they would one day meet again. Never had he thought that he would not see her again, but her beautiful picture in a graveyard.
It was really her, so she died, he couldn't believe it, and asked himself several questions, like what killed her. He was in complete solace, and just yesterday she appeared again, not exactly her, because she would be in her forties, but a younger version of her, possibly her daughter. It was as if she had never aged a bit. He consoled himself, but even he knew that it was not possible. His assistant had attended a wedding and spotted a familiar-looking woman, and even took a picture of her and sent him a copy.
He had wanted to go there right away, but he had a very special case to handle. He couldn't abandon the people because of his personal matters. He looked at the picture and compared it to the hard copy he had in his locker. It was a mini her with a slight version of him too. Her eyes, nose, and mouth were his. She was currently twenty three further filling in his hypothesis that she might have been pregnant back then, before she disappeared. It also meant that she did not see her mother because her death date was the same as her birthday.
He kept asking himself how she had lived all these twenty-three years by herself. He must go and see her to believe everything. His gut has never been wrong before; he knew she was his daughter, and there was no need for a DNA check because she looked almost exactly like his son. They were both twenty-three and had the same birthday, and that only meant they were fraternal twins. How did his other child appear on his doorstep while one was left all alone with no parents to take care of her? Who exactly dropped the child off at their family home back then?
All these questions were bugging him too much, and he was stuffy all over. He found it difficult to breathe and in the spur of the moment, he made a call and made an appointment with her husband's company in the name of a collaboration. He had investigated her and found out that she was already married, adding to his bitterness, because not only did he miss out on her childhood, but he also missed the most important day of a girl's life, that is, her wedding day. Once again, there was no news whatsoever that showed their wedding, not even the conglomerate's marriage.
Were they mistreating his daughter? He couldn't sit still, and he also had insomnia because the night was taking too long. Judging by her husband's intelligence, he knew he would immediately notice his similarities with her, and that was also his prayer. He missed all her childhood, even though her mother was not there, but she was exceptional. She had even worked with her younger brother before, but she did not notice their similarities over the video call because they had never met in person before.
He still remembered the day her brother was brought home. He had woken for his morning routine and workout, and he found a baby by the doorstep with a note, 'It's your baby, goodbye. Send money to this number and you won't see me again.' The handwriting wasn't hers, but the signature was, he knew, because he was the one who designed it for her. He took a baby and verified his DNA with his, and just as he thought, it was a 99.999% match. He then wired the money.
The shocking thing was that he never saw her again, even after using all his resources to search the whole continent. He even went to the hospital where she gave birth, but he was told that the attending nurse knew the father of the babies, and after the birth of the second child, she stole the younger one and escaped the delivery room. She later suffered a severe hemorrhage and died. The Stans family was later informed of both the good and bad news consecutively: birth and death, and that is how they adopted Havila.
They prepared the funeral ceremony for her, and that is how that picture found itself on her tomb so that Havila would see her mother's face when she grew up. Even the Stans' family didn't know that she gave birth to twins because the hospital had hidden the news about it for fear of being found in a scandal and affecting the hospital.
The cruel truth of the matter was, the nurse had had feelings for Havila's dad back then when they were still dating with her mom but the man never once noticed her. She is also the one who threatened Havila's mom lied to her that the man had another family he loved and it was only her wishful thinking they were in love. That is why she left and never told the man about the pregnancy. She had stolen the male child and disguised herself as Havila's mom in the letter.
She had hoped that when the man found the baby and looked for a nurse to take care of the child, she would then avail herself. But fate was not on her side because after the man confirmed the paternity test and sent the money, his sister offered to nurse the baby and that's how she lost her chance to be with him. Later when she heard that the woman died, she celebrated and hovered everywhere around him hoping that he would choose her when looking for a wife because of his position. To her annoyance, that man refused to marry with an excuse of having an heir already.
She knew she lost her chance forever so she found a man, fell in love and got married and they even have a daughter and that is Tamar. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree because Tamar also stole Havila's identity to dig the riches of the Delus family.
