Chapter LXXIII: Pomp and Circumstances
The familiar sound of laughter fills the air as the squad gathers at their favorite cafe, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingling with the scent of baked goods. They settle into their usual booth, the chatter flowing easily as they catch up on each other's lives.
Enmei leans back in his chair, a mischievous grin on his face.
"Did you guys see that meme about the cat wearing sunglasses? Classic," he says, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
Hanako nods enthusiastically, her fingers tapping against the tabletop.
"Oh yeah, that one was hilarious! I've been sending it to everyone I know," she replies, her voice filled with excitement.
Akiko's eyes light up as she catches sight of the menu, her mouth-watering at the thought of a delicious frappe. But when she turns to Kota with a hopeful expression, his response is less than enthusiastic.
"No, Akiko. I'm not buying you a frappe," Kota says firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument.
Akiko's face falls, her disappointment evident in her expression.
"But why not, Kota? You always buy me one," she protests, her tone tinged with frustration.
Kota's jaw clenches as he remembers their argument from the day before, the memory of Akiko's hurtful words still fresh in his mind. He opens his mouth to respond, but before he can say anything, the rest of the squad jumps in, eager to defuse the tension before it escalates.
"Come on, Akiko. Give the guy a break," Hanako says, her tone gentle but firm.
"You know he's just looking out for you."
The rest of the squad nods in agreement, their expressions filled with concern as they glance between Akiko and Kota. Sensing the weight of their collective gaze, Kota sighs and relents, his resolve crumbling in the face of their pleading expressions.
"Fine, Akiko. I'll buy you the frappe," Kota says reluctantly, his voice tinged with resignation.
Akiko's face lights up with joy, her disappointment forgotten as she leans in to press a kiss to Kota's cheek. The squad erupts into applause, their cheers filling the cafe as they celebrate the couple's reconciliation.
But Kota shakes them off, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment as he tries to deflect their attention.
"Come on, guys. It's not that big of a deal," he says, his tone modest but pleased.
With the tension diffused, the conversation turns to lighter topics, the squad discussing the latest gossip and rumors swirling around their school. From issues with students caught vaping to the upcoming prom, there's no shortage of topics to keep them entertained.
As they finish their drinks and prepare to head home, a sense of excitement fills the air. The prom is just around the corner, and they can't wait to start planning for the big event. With smiles on their faces and laughter in their hearts, they bid farewell to the cafe and set off into the night, eager to see what the future holds for them all.
The grand hall is aglow with twinkling lights and shimmering decorations as the long-awaited prom finally begins. Toshiro and the Class President take to the stage as the evening's MCs, their voices ringing out with warmth and excitement as they welcome the students to the event of the year.

"My dear students," she begins, her eyes glistening with tears,
"tonight marks the culmination of our journey together. It feels like just yesterday that you walked through the doors of our school as bright-eyed freshmen, eager to take on the world."
The students listen intently, their attention drawn to their beloved adviser as she continues.
"Over the years, I have watched you grow and evolve into remarkable young adults, each of you leaving an indelible mark on our school and in my heart."
A soft murmur of agreement ripples through the crowd as Ms. Soumei's words strike a chord with the students.
"As you embark on the next chapter of your lives, remember the lessons you've learned here, the friendships you've forged, and the memories you've created. Carry them with you always, and never forget the power of perseverance, compassion, and kindness."
There's a lump in many throats as Ms. Soumei's speech draws to a close, her words leaving an imprint on the hearts of all who hear them.
"Congratulations, my dear students," she says, her voice choked with emotion.
"I am so proud of each and every one of you."
As the students applaud and cheer, the School President steps forward to address the crowd.
"Good evening, everyone," he begins, his voice strong and confident.
"Tonight, we gather to celebrate not only the end of one chapter but the beginning of another. As we bid farewell to our time together, let us look back on the memories we've shared and the bonds we've formed."
The students nod in agreement, their eyes shining with excitement as the School President continues.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your School President," she says, her voice filled with warmth.
"And as we prepare to part ways, I am filled with hope and optimism for the future that lies ahead."
He pauses, his gaze sweeping over the crowd before settling on Ms. Soumei.
"I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Ms. Soumei for her unwavering dedication and support," he says, his voice ringing with sincerity.
"Her guidance and wisdom have been a source of inspiration to us all, and we are forever grateful for her contributions to our school community."
The students erupt into applause, their cheers echoing throughout the hall as they show their appreciation for their beloved adviser. And as the School President steps down from the stage, his heart filled with pride, he knows that the memories of this night will stay with them forever.
And amidst the excitement and anticipation, the Squad gathers at the entrance, their elegant and grand outfits drawing admiring glances from their peers.
But as they wait for Akiko to arrive, there's a sense of unease in the air, a feeling of anticipation mingled with concern. Where could she be?
Just as Kota begins to worry, Akiko appears at the entrance, her presence lighting up the whole room. Dressed in a grand purple gown that hugs her curves and trails behind her in a cascade of fabric, she looks every bit the belle of the ball.

As the prom continues in full swing, the energy in the room is electric, with laughter, music, and the sound of dancing feet filling the air. The Class Representative stands at the center of the dance floor, a smile lighting up her face as she prepares to kick off the evening's festivities.
But before she can even begin, Toshiro kneels beside her, a twinkle in his eye as he extends his hand.
"May I have this dance?" he asks, his voice filled with excitement and a hint of nervousness.
The Class Representative's cheeks flush with color as she accepts his invitation, her heart pounding with anticipation as they take to the dance floor together. As they move to the music, their steps synchronized and graceful, the rest of the students watch in awe, their applause filling the room.
Meanwhile, Asahi wastes no time in asking out other girls to dance, his easy charm and friendly demeanor earning him no shortage of partners for the evening. Enmei takes to the floor with Yui, their laughter and playful banter filling the air as they twirl and sway to the music.
Hanako, ever the shy one, musters up the courage to ask Tengen to dance, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she extends her hand. To her surprise and delight, Tengen accepts with a smile, his eyes shining with warmth as they join the others on the dance floor.
But perhaps the most unexpected sight of all is Gin, who takes a chair and begins to dance with it, his movements fluid and graceful despite the unconventional partner. Akiko can't help but laugh at his antics, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she watches him from across the room.
As the night wears on, Kota finally gathers the courage to ask Akiko for a dance, his heart pounding with nervous anticipation.
"Would you have this dance with me, malady?" he asks, his voice filled with sincerity and emotion.
Akiko's heart swells with love as she listens to his heartfelt words, her eyes shining with tears of happiness.
"Oh Kota, you don't have to be so dramatic all the time," she says, her voice filled with affection.
"But yes, I would love to dance with you, Monsieur."
As they move together to the music, their bodies swaying in perfect harmony, Kota takes her hand in his, his gaze locked with hers.
"It doesn't matter about the money," he begins, his voice soft but filled with conviction.
"What matters is our love."
Akiko's heart skips a beat as she listens to his words, her love for him swelling within her chest.
"True, money can't buy happiness," she agrees, her voice filled with warmth. She continues
"It doesn't matter about the money, what matters is our love. True, money can't buy happiness and it's just for material things, but you can't see the true worth if it's not for love. It doesn't matter about the money, what matters most is that we have one another. Richness doesn't have to do with money, it has to do with what's inside of your heart"
"It says as it says. As long as we have each other, we have everything we need."
Their dance continues, their steps moving in time with the music as they lose themselves in each other's embrace. And as they twirl and spin across the dance floor, their love shines bright, a beacon of hope and happiness in a world filled with uncertainty.
