After Kevin left the Lullaby Room, he looked around. "She shouldn't have gone too far..." he said, lowly, before walking forward.
When Kevin was near the Memory Room's door, he looked at the door under the Reception Room and noticed dents near the doorknob and a shoe print on the base. "She must've used the Pressure Hand," he continued before approaching it.
As Kevin opened the door, he looked around before spotting the bathroom in the far right. Soon after, Michelle left the women's bathroom with her right hand switched from the Conductive Hand to the Pressure Hand.
Michelle sighed a bit and stretched her arms. "Man... the toilet paper in there was disgusting; luckily, I found some sealed ones in the janitor's room," she said.
Michelle looked at the door and spotted Kevin, which made her flinch with a slight blush. "Uh... how long have you been there?" she asked.
Kevin rubbed the back of his neck. "Just as you exited the bathroom, my bad..." he said, lowly.
Michelle sighed and approached Kevin. "It's fine... I've been in weirder situations before..." she said.
Kevin remained silent and looked down; when Michelle was close to him, she noticed and looked at him. "You alright?" she asked.
Kevin looked at Michelle. "I'm fine," he said. "It's just that... there's been something I wanted to ask you about."
Michelle was surprised. "Really?" she asked.
Kevin nodded. "Yeah..." he said. "It's about your lullaby."
Michelle tilted her head. "What about it? Was I singing it too loud?" she asked.
Kevin shook his head. "No, you weren't... but I was curious about it," he said. "Was that a song your orphanage taught you?"
Michelle remained silent before looking down. "Actually, no... I'm not sure how to explain it..." she said before rubbing the back of her neck. "You'll probably think it's weird."
Kevin deadpanned at Michelle. "You're literally inside a factory filled with living toys; it can't be weirder than that," he said.
Michelle looked at Kevin before sighing. "Fair enough..." she said. "It's been stuck with me at a very young age. When I was around three, I was terrified of the dark."
Michelle placed her hand against her head. "Then I heard this voice... a woman's voice... it wasn't any of the female caretakers because all of them were asleep when I asked," she continued. "The voice was singing me the lullaby almost every night... and I've remembered it ever since."
Kevin raised his brow. "That's freaky..." he said, lowly.
Michelle looked at Kevin. "That's not even the freakiest part," she said. "Every time it was my birthday, there would be an anonymous birthday gift addressed to me."
Kevin was shocked. "However, it stopped when I was around ten... both the singing and the birthday gifts," Michelle continued. "Sometimes I wondered who they were..."
Kevin looked at Michelle. "I'm surprised you haven't figured that out," he said.
Michelle looked at Kevin, confused. "What do you mean?" she asked.
Kevin raised his hand a bit. "I mean, singing lullabies and giving gifts anonymously... that's something parents would do," he said before pointing at Michelle. "Your parents."
Michelle froze. "What?" she asked.
Kevin nodded. "It has to be," he said. "I mean, who else knows your birthday besides your orphanage and Playcare? It would have to be your parents."
Michelle looked down and crossed her arms. "And the lullaby, that's something normal parents would do with their kids," Kevin continued.
Michelle clenched her arms. "Then why...?" she asked, which made Kevin look at her. "Why did they leave me at the orphanage?"
Kevin looked at Michelle. "I'm sure they had a good reason to—" she angrily looked at him. "There is no good reason?!"
Kevin froze. "The only reason parents would leave a baby at the orphanage's doorstep is that they didn't want them in the first place?!" Michelle shouted. "They wouldn't let their kids go to other people's homes or almost get molested?!"
Michelle trembled as tears fell from her eyes. "If it was them... why did they abandon me?" she asked as she looked away and tried wiping her tears away.
Kevin frowned before wrapping his arms around Michelle, which made her look at him. "Sorry... I shouldn't have said anything if talking about them made you this angry," he said.
Michelle looked down before closing her eyes and sighing. "It's fine... you had no idea I'd get worked up about it," she said.
After the couple separated, Michelle looked at Kevin. "Just promise me you won't tell anyone about this conversation," she said.
Kevin mimicked a zipping motion over his mouth. "My lips are sealed," he said.
Michelle giggled a bit. "Thank you..." she said as she wiped her remaining tears. "We should probably get back to the others in the Lullaby Room."
Michelle looked at Kevin. "Will you be alright going back in there?" she asked.
Kevin chuckled a bit. "I'll be alright this time," he said.
Michelle stared at Kevin. "Promise?" she asked.
Kevin gently smiled as he retracted the claws on his left hand before placing it against Michelle's cheek. "Promise," he said before kissing her forehead.
Michelle smiled as Kevin pulled away before she placed her hand in his. "Then we shouldn't keep them waiting," she said.
Kevin nodded before the couple left the room. When the couple entered the Lullaby Room, they heard something getting destroyed, which shocked them, and they looked to the left. "What the hell was that?" Michelle asked.
Kevin stared to the left. "Not sure," he said before looking at Michelle. "Stay behind me."
Michelle nodded as the couple quietly walked forward; when they turned the corner, they saw the wall close to them destroyed, with the door on the ground, bent in different places.
When the couple looked forward, they saw the group destroying the farthest wall, and the door collapsed. "That takes care of them," Matthew said.
Yarnaby sniffed the air before turning his head toward the couple and charging toward them, which made the others look at them. "They're back," Katelynn said before sprinting toward them.
Yarnaby got close to Michelle and sat before her, which made her smile and pet his head with her free hand, which made him purr. "Missed you too, buddy," she said.
The group got close to the couple. "Glad you two are back," Jack said. "We were worried when you two were gone for so long."
Kevin shrugged his shoulders. "Eh, some Outimals were bothering us, so I killed them," he said.
Michelle nodded. I'll let this lie slide for now... she thought.
Kevin looked at the group. "Mind telling us what all of you were doing?" he asked.
Matthew looked at the couple. "I came up with an idea to destroy the door areas, including the middle one, so that we don't have to watch those videos the whole way," he said.
Michelle hummed a bit. "That's smart; did you find out what was in the middle one?" she asked.
Matthew nodded. "It's a deactivated heat panel; it seems like the only way to power it up is to activate the remaining projectors," he said.
Michelle hummed a bit and nodded. "Makes sense..." she said.
Matthew held his hand out before a note appeared, and he held it out. "We also found this when we destroyed the door in the middle room," he said. "It's an observation note on Cat-Bee by Harley Sawyer."
The couple was shocked as Michelle let go of Kevin's hand before grabbing the note and looking at it. "Experiment number 1161, also known as Cat-Bee, is the second successful creation in the Bigger Bodies Initiative," she read. "Much like 1160, 1161 also has an insatiable hunger for flesh."
The group stared at Michelle. "When one of the lab boys tried to feed 1161, she opened her mandible-like jaw and ate him whole instead," she read. "Through our observations, 1161 acts more like a feral tiger than an adorable kitten, hunting for her prey."
Michelle stared at the note. "Though much like 1160, the only method that will calm 1161 down is the picture of a former colleague's baby and the lullaby that was used in Playcare," she read.
Michelle covered her mouth a bit. "If the music stopped or the picture was taken away, 1161's rage would return. Though 1161 is a wild beast, I can see potential in her; we'll continue to observe 1161's behavior and assess her abilities," she read.
Michelle stared at the note before looking down. "I'm sorry you had to go through all of that, Cat-Bee," she said before dropping the note. "Let's get this area powered up and find that memory disk."
The group nodded as Michelle sprinted to the other side; when she turned the corner, she stood in the middle before twisting the knob, which retracted the Pressure Hand inside her arm, and the Conductive Hand appeared.
Michelle aimed at the electrical panel before the Conductive Hand shot from her wrist and touched it, powering it up. After Michelle retracted the Conductive Hand, she sprinted away.
When Michelle was close to the group, she entered the room and aimed her right arm at the projector before the Conductive Hand shot from her wrist and touched the projector, powering it up.
Michelle retracted the Conductive Hand to her wrist as the video played behind her. "One down, one to go," she said before she sprinted out of the room.
As Michelle turned the corner, Kevin glared at the screen as Ms. Gracie appeared; Katelynn looked at him, worried. "Big Brother?" she asked.
Kevin closed his eyes and took a deep breath before exhaling. "I'll be fine," he said before looking at the others. "Let's head to the other room."
The others nodded before approaching the other room. When Michelle stood before the electrical panel, she aimed her right arm.
The Conductive Hand shot from Michelle's wrist and touched the electrical panel, powering it up. "The left side is gonna be the quickest way to get into that room," she said as she retracted it to her wrist before sprinting to the left.
When Michelle turned the corner, she saw the group before entering the room and aiming at the projector. "Just get it over with," she said before the Conductive Hand shot from her wrist.
When the Conductive Hand touched the projector, it powered up as Michelle retracted it to her wrist. When the group looked at the screen, they saw Kissy Missy on the screen waving until it started glitching, which shocked them. "The hell is going on?" Michelle asked.
Soon after, the screen changed to the picture of a baby swaddled in a white blanket, and the group heard a woman singing a familiar melody in the background before it went dark. The group stared at the screen. "Was that the picture the note was talking about?" Katelynn asked.
Mommy Long Legs crossed her arms. "Probably... how odd," she said.
Michelle stared at the screen, shocked, until Kevin entered the room and placed his hand on her shoulder, which made her look at him. "You OK?" he asked.
Michelle looked down before nodding. "Yeah, I'm fine; just not what I expected..." she said before looking at Matthew. "You said there was a heat panel in the middle of this hallway, right?"
Matthew nodded. "That's right," he said before gesturing at the stairs. "While you were using the restroom, Jack found a door that was locked with similar hairlocks back in the power room."
Michelle nodded as the couple got out of the room. "Then leave the hair to me," she said before approaching the middle room.
When Michelle looked at the heat panel inside the room, she aimed her right arm before the Conductive Hand shot from her wrist and touched it, powering it up. After the Conductive Hand retracted onto Michelle's wrist, she quickly climbed the stairs.
After Michelle turned the corner and climbed another set of stairs, she spotted the hair tied to the doorknob of a blue door before approaching it. "Let's see what you have," she said.
When Michelle was close to the door, she grabbed the hair with her right hand, burning it to ashes before twisting the doorknob with her left hand. When Michelle opened the door, she saw an office with a purple carpet.
Michelle looked at the desk and noticed the memory disk and a name plate with the name 'Gracie Green' on it. "This must be Ms. Gracie's office," she said before entering and approaching the desk.
When Michelle was near the desk chair, she spotted a note before picking it up. "It's another note to Leith, but this time Dr. White wrote it," she continued before humming. "Seems like he wanted to make use of the neural mapper as well and keep a copy inside a computer."
Michelle crumpled the paper in her right hand before tossing it away. "I wonder if this copy has some relation to the Negation Compound..." she said, lowly.
Michelle looked at the memory disk before picking it up with her left hand with a smile. "Two down, one to go," she continued before leaving the room.
After Michelle was at the bottom of the stairs, she looked at the group. "Hey, I got the memory disk; let's head back to the Memory Room," she said.
The group nodded before approaching the exit.
