Chapter 670 - Chapter 670: Open Sesame

In Peter's memory, Baron Zemo should have already been killed by Kang. There was no logical reason for Korvac to have resurrected him.

Or could it be that the person present at the scene back then wasn't the real Zemo?

Watching Zemo walk out of the teleportation array, Peter hesitated for a moment but ultimately chose not to follow. Although tailing him now might yield a significant amount of intelligence, the more critical information was undoubtedly within the teleportation hub itself.

Thus, he did not follow.

As Zemo stepped out of the teleportation room, he paused and looked back. He walked a few more steps, then paused again.

Doctor Faustus, the high-ranking Hydra official in charge of the Hydra Antarctic Headquarters, looked at Zemo with some confusion. "Is something wrong, Baron?"

"No, it's nothing."

Zemo shook his head. He had initially suspected someone was following him, but after walking a short distance and confirming there was no tail, he continued his conversation with Faustus while they walked. "I am perfectly safe now. That group of so-called superheroes hasn't noticed in the slightest that their teammate is actually Zemo of Hydra. It's truly laughable."

"In that case, it seems our experiments are indeed progressing smoothly. Since the Chameleon's mask is so effective, why don't we manufacture more? How about creating a large number of disguised soldiers?"

Doctor Faustus offered his suggestion. Upon hearing it, Zemo glanced at him. It was a good idea, but the prerequisite was finding enough secure and trustworthy people to undergo the procedure.

"Hydra is short-handed, Doctor. We don't have that many reliable soldiers."

The birth of modern Hydra originated from the remnants of Hydra after World War II. At that time, the population of the remnants was quite limited, yet they had to maintain the operation of several large bases. If they relied solely on internal marriage, the population count was destined to be insufficient.

Furthermore, the gene pool wasn't large enough. As time went on, the resistance of the Hydra grunts to diseases would only decrease.

The number of people suitable for Super Soldier augmentation would also certainly dwindle.

Of course, theoretically, Hydra wasn't without a solution. The simplest method would be to recruit outside populations. However, considering the inherent nature of Hydra, the struggle for such outsiders to gain security clearance and enter the major bases would theoretically be an arduous one.

Well, theoretically. As for why Spider-Man was able to cause trouble here so easily, no one knew.

Just as Baron Zemo and Doctor Faustus were discussing their plans, a change occurring outside Hydra Mountain put the entire facility on high alert. Hearing the news, Zemo asked with an unchanged expression, "What happened?"

"Report! There is an attack by primitives outside! Additionally, Deadpool is there!"

Originally, upon hearing it was just primitives, Zemo had no interest at all. But at the mention of Deadpool, Zemo narrowed his eyes, intending to go and join the fray. He was very curious about where exactly this Deadpool had come from.

This provided Peter with sufficient time.

By this moment, Peter had already knocked out the Hydra soldiers in charge of the control room and begun operating the console.

Initially, Peter was worried that the Norn Stone console might be extremely difficult to operate, but to his surprise, it was actually quite straightforward once he got his hands on it.

"Alright, let's see how many secrets Hydra has buried in this teleportation array. First, the teleportation coordinates for other locations—the headquarters isn't here?"

Peter first targeted the coordinates of other Hydra branches, but he found that there were only teleportation requests sent from the Antarctic base toward Hydra Headquarters, with no reverse data.

In other words, even with the Norn Stones, Hydra was still concealing the traces of their headquarters. This piqued Peter's curiosity, but he first made sure to record the coordinates of all other branches.

Simultaneously, Peter discovered another fact: this teleportation system used by Hydra had actually been in operation since the 1950s, shortly after the end of World War II.

What did this imply? It meant that Hydra had discovered Norn Stones in the last century, or more deeply, that Norn Stones existed on Earth.

If this were true, Peter was certain that creating a teleportation hub for the Avengers themselves would become much easier.

"That's about it. Next is considering how to disable the electronic signal jamming and the forced lockdown of the teleportation array. I don't know how to clear the former yet, but the latter is undoubtedly linked to the Norn Stones. Once the Norn Stones are adjusted, it will be synchronized and released—or perhaps—"

As Peter was thinking about how to activate or deactivate the Norn Stones, he discovered some special experimental logs. These experiments explained in detail how to trigger the Norn Stones and also informed Peter of the related experimental objectives.

Hydra was attempting to obtain supplies provided by another universe—which meant that Hydra had discovered the multiverse one step ahead of the Avengers, established contact with a certain universe, and intended to open a passage between the two.

Peter was quite certain that the other universe wasn't a "good guy" universe; otherwise, Hydra wouldn't be chatting so happily with them.

"But the good news is, as an experimental report, these contents have listed all the steps to activate the Norn Stone. Simply wanting to disrupt the Norn Stone sequence isn't that difficult—wait—huh?"

Soon, various incidents began occurring within the Hydra base. Peter keenly realized that Kitty must be providing cover for him, so he immediately activated the Spider-Bots to hack into Hydra's power armor, causing a massive disturbance.

This bought Peter even more time.

"Alright, according to the procedure, I just need to try injecting a large-scale energy burst into the Norn Stone—"

An intense laser struck the Norn Stone. In just an instant, the stone erupted with a violent blue light, and everything was sucked into the resulting vortex.

Peter tentatively drew a Sling Ring portal, confirming that teleportation was now possible here again. Then, he stepped toward the vortex. If his calculations were correct, the other side of the vortex would be Avengers Tower.

Peter successfully passed through the vortex and returned to the roof of Avengers Tower. The Avengers, who had gathered there to discuss the problem of Spider-Man's disappearance, were stunned.

Tony, who was in contact with Cindy Moon via long-range communication, confirmed that the person in front of him was indeed Peter, then asked in astonishment.

"Hey, kid, where did you come from?"

Facing Tony's question, Peter pointed to the vortex.

"A secret Hydra base. Baron Zemo is inside, along with Norn Stones and other things. This vortex won't hold for much longer. Are we all going in?"
