Looking at the crowd of spider-wasp mutants rushing toward them, Peter scanned them back and forth warily. Based on the biological habits of spider wasps, these guys would likely possess abilities that perfectly countered the spider totem.
But after thinking it over carefully, it seemed that within a spider-wasp colony, only the females were responsible for reproduction, meaning these guys were probably just worker wasps. Furthermore, coupled with his rather weak Spider-Sense at the moment, these creatures likely did not possess that much formidable power.
At the same time, the crowd of spider-wasp mutants did not grant Peter much time for thought and analysis. Clutching weapons like baseball bats or machetes, they charged forward. Peter shouted, "Hold them off!" before diving into a brawl with these mass-produced creeps.
"So, the ones who have been stopping the birth of spider totems across various universes lately are you guys? Are you Shathra's worshippers? Or further still, her lapdogs?!"
Bio-electricity circulated through Peter's fist, bursting with immense power as he slammed a spider-wasp mutant violently into the wall. He then fired a strand of web to snag another spider-wasp mutant rushing toward Cindy, slamming him heavily onto the one already pinned to the wall. Following that, his mechanical pincers shot out, grabbing a third enemy from behind who was attempting a sneak attack.
Yet, mirroring the nature of a hive mind itself, these mutants did not express any emotions because of this, merely replying to Peter in a flat tone.
"You actually know the name of the Master of the Great Hive?! It seems you know quite a lot, wicked spider totem."
"Wicked? Oh my god, I'm the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man! I deliver newspapers to the neighborhood elders and trim their lawns every single day. I know exactly how many cats everyone owns, so calling me wicked is a bit too much, don't you think?"
After repelling several spider-wasp mutants, Peter leaped into the air, firing countless web projectiles infused with his Chi and immortal force in all directions. These web projectiles possessed extraordinary power, and even these modified humans were thoroughly knocked to the ground almost the instant they made contact.
But right after, the door was kicked open by another group of people, who once again transformed without shouting "henshin" before charging straight over.
"So, what should I call you guys? Little Wasps? Forget it, calling you that name is just too disgusting. Spider Wasps? That doesn't really seem to reflect your level of danger... How about Spider-Wasp Men? Are three words a bit too long?"
Peter flexibly evaded the enemies' onslaught while repeatedly hammering them. He could now strike his opponents with his fists effortlessly. A single backflip allowed him to hook the chests of two enemies simultaneously with webbing, smashing them together.
As for who these enemies actually were, they finally opened their mouths and roared in fury.
"We are the Sisterhood of Wasp!"
"Fantastic. First of all, I haven't seen a single sister. Haven't you noticed that you're all men? Shouldn't you be called the Brotherhood of Wasp? Unless your biological sex is male but you identify as female? In that case, you should be called the Wasp Sexual Minority Group Association."
"Secondly, I was asking what you mass-produced enemies should be called individually, not the name of your organization. After all, I can't exactly go around calling you Wasp Sisterhood Number One, Number Two, and Number Three, can I?"
The spider-wasp mutant didn't speak, swinging a fist directly at him. But Peter caught his wrist and snapped it with a single twist, fracturing the bone. "Besides, aren't you guys spider wasps? Why call yourselves the Sisterhood of Wasp instead of the Sisterhood of Spider Wasp?"
With that, Peter watched with his own eyes as a member of the Sisterhood of Wasp let out a furious roar, grabbed a teammate, yanked him directly in front of himself, and ran off to deal with Jessica instead.
"This guy's mouth is too foul! You deal with him!"
Peter let out a helpless sigh, looking at the spider-wasp mutant who had been swapped in. "Do you see this, my friend? This is exactly how prejudice and misunderstandings are born."
That brother simply let out a deathly shout and charged forward.
In reality, although Peter handled this crowd of lackeys quite easily, these guys weren't weak at all. Every single one of these Kamen Rider-looking spider-wasp mutants possessed a combat capability comparable to the Shocker or Scorpion that Peter had fought in his early days. Miguel fared decently; the year 2099 was filled with high technology and ruthless modifications. As a badass who had altered half of his own DNA into spider DNA, his kicks sent people flying even further than Peter's did.
However, things weren't as easy for the others. Facing the Sisterhood of Wasp, who possessed formidable strength and a numerical advantage, most of them could only manage a one-on-two fight while waiting for Peter to come and help. Gwen had just landed a punch on the enemy in front of her, bending down to dodge a strike from the enemy behind her, before the one behind her suddenly sparked with electricity all over and crashed heavily to the ground.
Gwen looked at Peter, who had taken down the enemy, and asked while panting, "You don't usually talk this much."
"If you have extra energy to speak during a battle, it might just be a good thing. It can distract the enemy to the maximum extent."
While the two were chatting, a thunderous noise echoed from behind them. It turned out that the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and the local Strange of this universe had already taken care of the symbiote monster, completely sealing the portal.
Although the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man hadn't fully grasped the situation yet, and the local Strange only understood a fraction of it, both still intended to come over and help.
"I have! A question!"
Fighting on the other side, Jessica grabbed an enemy's shoulder to perform a backflip, releasing a powerful electrical current from both hands to shock the enemy unconscious on the ground. She then counter-questioned upon landing, "This Sisterhood of Wasp, they shouldn't be the masterminds, right?"
"Spider wasps are solitary wasps; it's rare to see them appear in such large numbers." Cindy chimed in after finishing off an enemy over there. "But if their social structure is like that of wasps, then they should only be worker wasps."
...Is it possible they were originally human?
Gwen suppressed this question, while Miguel, having finished off his enemies, walked to Peter's side. "You're protecting them too well. Their combat training is severely lacking, especially Earth-616's Gwen."
"What do you mean by... ah!"
Before Gwen could even counter, her Spider-Sense rang out violently. This time, even Peter's Spider-Sense went off. Peter stepped to the very front: "It seems the mastermind is coming. Everyone, be careful!"
Immediately afterward, the door was violently kicked open.
"Father said something about the Bride appearing here. How could the Bride possibly leave Universe 616? But there certainly are quite a few wasp totems in this place."
Morlun, dragging a wasp mutant he had drained dry with his right hand, kicked open the main door and caught sight of the large gathering of spider totems inside.
For the first time, he did not express joy upon discovering spider totems; instead, his face was filled entirely with utter disgust.
"The Clan Leader?!"
"Morlun?!"
