Chapter 622 - Chapter 622: Energy Launcher

"Doesn't Spector Unit 6 have an antigravity drive, though? That should eliminate g forces causing said pressure," Eri asked.

"Not if the speed it flies and turns at is greater than the antigravity drive can compensate for," Revi remarked before continuing. "The same goes for his body. Adam has gone under some body upgrades since he left Earth; however, they might not be complete yet."

"You mean to say that his physical body still lacks compared to ours?" Elemence asked.

"In terms of its pressure resistance, maybe," Revi nodded.

"How fast does one need to be going for it to not only be more than an antigravity drive can compensate for, but also damage the body?" Eri asked.

"I guess we're about to find out," Elemance remarked.

"What the fuck just happened?" Andrea asked in shock as she stared at the viewscreen, which showed the back of Spector Unit 6.

"Language, Andrea," Tessa rebuked through the internal comms.

"Apologies, princess," Andrea said apologetically.

"OH FUCK YEAH! NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT," Becky yelled happily.

"Becky," Tessa said with a sigh.

"What?" Becky replied before asking, "Don't tell me you're not excited to see him kick their asses."

"I'm not sure how effective that mech will be against ships," The commander suddenly remarked.

"What do you mean?" Andria asked as she turned to her second in command.

"I've never seen such a mech before, so I can't be certain, but given its streamlined look, that mech looks more like it's built for speed rather than firepower," The commander replied.

"Mr Spencer did say that it was the Rapid Interceptor Mode form," Tessa replied.

"Mech construction is like anything else, when you focus on one thing, you have to make sacrifices elsewhere," The commander began to explain. "If that mech is built for speed, then it is naturally going to be weaker in both offence and defence. Defence might not be such an issue if it's fast enough to avoid any incoming attacks, but if it's lacking in offence, then its attacks wont be strong enough to break through the enemy's shields."

"I see your point. It wouldn't be an issue if he were fighting mechs or fighters that lack shields or have weak ones, but he's up against eight ships, one of them being capital-class," Andria replied.

Before they could discuss further, the communications officer suddenly said, "Incoming communication from the mech."

"Put it through," Andrea ordered before saying, "Something you need, Captain Spencer?"

"Not really. I just wanted to tell you to leave your defences to me and to focus on attacking the enemies," Adam replied.

"Excuse me?" Andria asked in surprise.

"I'm sure you have already figured out by now that this form is built for speed and not attack power. Because of this, I would be better off intercepting any attacks that come your way," Adam explained.

"Are you serious? We're talking about the attacks of eight large-class and bigger ships," The commander asked, but before Adam could reply, the sensor officer suddenly said in alarm.

"Multiple missiles inbound."

"Can someone explain to me why the Imperial Down is still in one piece? And better yet, why does that mech appear to have transformed?" The captain of the capital ship asked as he stared at the viewscreen.

"I was unable to tell what was happening through the main cannon attacks of our eight ships; however, based on reports we received, I believe that the mech absorbed the attacks."

"Excuse me? What do you mean, it absorbed them?" The captain asked in annoyance.

"During its participation in the UMB Cup's opening ceremony match, that particular mech was seen absorbing the energy of energy weapons used against it."

"Everyone knows that the UMB Cup's opening ceremony match is just for show and that the weapons they use only look real are instead fake," The captain scoffed before asking in an annoyed tone.

"Are you trying to tell me that those fake weapons, which are only good for making a light show, are the same as the main cannons from our eight ships?"

"No, Captain, I was just making a hypothesis."

"It sounded more like your attempt at a factual statement," The captain snapped.

"Orders, Captain?" The second in command asked.

"Since we don't know how they were able to neutralise the main cannon attacks, it's pointless to continue using them," The Captain replied as he slumped in his chair before ordering.

"We will instead overwhelm them and destroy that ship using sheer numbers. Have all ships launch mech and fighter squadrons.

Weapons, coordinate with the other ships to launch missiles, full spread."

"Sir!"

"Give me an update on capturing that ship," The captain ordered.

"One second, sir," The second in command said before pulling up the information, which caused him to frown as he read it.

"Well?" The captain asked as he saw the look on his second in command's face.

"I'm not sure if I'm reading this right, sir, but it says that two of the medium-class ships have been destroyed," The commander replied.

"Useless bastards," The captain cursed before asking, "How are six medium-class ships losing? All they have to do is disable and capture it."

"Reports suggest that the first was disabled before being later destroyed, as for the second, it says it was destroyed by a single powerful bolt of energy, which first pierced a hole right through the ship's shields and hull before the ship then exploded," The commander said as he read the communications report from the holographic screen before him.

"Where did we find all these idiots?" The captain grumbled before waving his hand and ordering, "Once they have launched their missiles, send one of the large-class ships to support them."

"Understood, sir."

[Animefangirl (Earth): THAT LOOKS SO FUCKING ANIME!]

[SciFifanboy (Earth): THAT LOOKS SCI-FI AS FUCK!]

[HackerSu (Trillion): So it really did have another form.]

[MercheadAnderson (Palaxia): How many forms or modes do you think it has?]

[Animefangirl (Earth): The way its legs detached and became part of the shoulder cannons was so Anime.]

[Justiceistruth (Earth): Do you think that means its feet can fire energy bolts in its normal form?]

[Animefangirl (Earth): Don't be fucking stupid.]

[HackerSu (Trillion): I wonder why it has a pair of smaller hands where the legs used to be?]

[Superherofangirl (Earth): I wonder why the legs even detached in the first place.]

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): Well, I guess it doesn't really need legs if it's flying in space.]

[Superherofangirl (Earth): What about landing though?]

[MercheadAnderson (Palaxia): Is it just me, or does that shoulder cannon look like a smaller version of the laser lance?]

[NonpareilRaphilia (Aaru): You're not wrong, but I doubt it's the same.]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): That Gatling gun looks awesome.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): What do you suppose that small stubby-looking weapon does?]

[Justiceistruth (Earth): Dunno, a grenade launcher?]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): And where did the mech suddenly get grenades from, idiot?]

[RealOtaku (Earth): Maybe it fires energy grenades.]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): WTF are energy grenades supposed to be?]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Is that even a thing?]

[RealOtaku (Earth): I saw them in a game I played once.]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Energy Launchers do exist, however, they are not very popular and you never see them on mechs.]

[Justiceistruth (Earth): Huh! Why?]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): They're not used on mechs because space combat tends to be fast-paced and the energy rounds launched from energy launchers are too slow to hit quick-moving targets.

When they are used, they're equipped to mobile armours or by infantry that use a smaller version.Β

The issue with the mobile armour variant is that they are incredibly energy inefficient and quickly drain the mobile armour's power.

As for the smaller infantry versions, these are still rather bulky for the standard person and have a very limited number of shots before their energy cells are depleted and need replacing.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): He forgot to add that the energy cells are also rather bulky themselves as well as incredibly expensive.]

[Whitehorn (Darah 5): All in all, they are not worth the cost. If you want some sort of launcher, you're better off with a standard grenade launcher or mortar.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Ok, then that brings me back to the original question. What do you think that small stubby weapon is?]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Oh, it's definitely an energy launcher.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): But you all just said that mechs don't use them. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): I know. But this is the streamer we're talking about and you know how he likes to toss what should be common knowledge into the trash by doing new and unexpected things.]

[LadyErkath (Alastor): That's true. I'm curious to see how he plans to use it in a mode that is obviously built for speed.]

[OfficialMuriel (Aqua Primus): Hey, check it. The enemy ships are launching missiles.]

[OfficialKasumi (Aqua Primus): I guess they gave up on using their main cannons.]

[OfficialMuriel (Aqua Primus): They're not entirely stupid then.]

[Celebrityhunter69 (Earth): Errr, they're still launching missiles, is this amount normal?]

[Whostolemyduck (Earth): How many bloody missiles do they have?]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): This is awesome.]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): There are so many, I thought the ninety that Spector launched before was already a lot, but now….]

[Lizziethetruepower (Palaxia): Does anyone have any idea how many they've launched? I've lost count.]
