Chapter 626 - Chapter 626: Natural energy degradation

"Boom, there goes another one, only three left," Aphrodite said smugly as another of the medium-class ships was destroyed.

"One of the large-class ships is heading our way," Rowena announced as she noticed the approaching ship from Spector's sensor readout on one of the holographic screens she had open.

"Fun, a bigger fish to play with," Aphrodite replied as she had the micro-fighters move onto another of the medium-class ships and open fire on it.

"Let's deal with the remaining three until it arrives," Stacey stated as she had Spector open fire with its three triple laser repeaters on the same ship that the micro-fighters were attacking.

Rowena had Spector perform evasive manoeuvres in order to dodge the three medium-class ships, while its regenerative shields tanked the attacks she was unable to dodge.

"I love these shields," Rowena said with a smile.

"That doesn't mean you can take it easy and allow them to hit us," Stacey replied.

The triple laser repeaters and micro-fighters' combined assault tore through the medium-class ship's shields before tearing holes in the hull until it could take no more and exploded.

"Two left," Aphrodite remarked again as she sent the micro-fighters after the next closest target.

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Their weapons' attack power is far stronger than average.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): We kind of already knew that from watching his previous battles.]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): I know, but watching them rapidly take down ships of the same class really makes it apparent.]

[LadyErkath (Alastor): You're not wrong, but don't forget that those medium-class ships are being attacked by seven craft of various sizes at once.]

"Multiple mechs and fighters are launching from the enemy large-class ship," Spector suddenly announced

The stream that had been watching the Spector battle switched to show mechs and fighters launching from the approaching large-class ship.

"Aphrodite, would you mind?" Stacey asked.

"No probs," Aphrodite replied as she had the micro-fighters change target from the medium-class ship they had been aiming to attack next, towards the large-class ship where the mechs and fighters were deploying from.

"They're finally planning to make things more difficult for us," Rowena remarked, as she had Spector bank to one side in order to dodge the incoming energy bolts.

"Then let's return the favour. Sensors are detecting twenty-four mechs and forty-eight fighters," Stacey announced before targeting them all and adding, "firing rattler missiles."

Six missiles launched from Spector and headed for the large-class enemy ship while she simultaneously had Spector attack the next medium-class ship with its triple laser repeaters.

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): 6 of them? That's going to be 108 missiles, right?]

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): 108 missiles vs 72 enemies.]

[Superior4horns (Vinox 3): Actually, it's 108 missiles and 6 micro-fighters vs 72 enemies.]

[HackerSu (Trillion): Is this a space battle or a contest of which side can overwhelm the others first using pure numbers?]

After the rattler missiles reached a certain distance from Spector, eighteen smaller missiles launched from each, and as the 108 smaller missiles passed the micro-fighters Aphrodite was controlling, they split up, each locking onto an enemy mech or fighter.

The enemy forces split up in response as they detected the missile lock.

The fighters launched countermeasures, while the mechs flew backwards, firing at the missiles in an attempt to destroy them.

But while the enemy forces were busy dealing with the missiles, the micro-fighters followed close behind.

Distracted by the incoming missiles, the enemies failed to notice the micro-fighters, allowing the energy bolts Aphrodite fired to quickly shred and destroy them.

From the perspective of those who were observing the battle, it appeared as if a blue streak of light zigzagged across space as if it flew from one enemy to the next before they were sliced in half, disabled or just blown up.

[Animefangirl (Earth): That really is fucking Anime.]

[Lizziethetruepower (Palaxia): I knew this would happen; they're not even able to keep up with him. What's good about having numbers to overwhelm someone if those numbers can't do shit?]

Meanwhile, the ten drones worked in pairs to simultaneously attack the enemy fighters and mechs, which Spector Unit Six wasn't attacking from different angles, making it harder for them to avoid.

"The TISF Imperial Down is about to fire its main cannon," Spector suddenly announced.

"Highlight the targeted area on the HUD," Adam replied.

"Affirmative," Spector replied as another long, straight section of space was highlighted in red, covering one of the cruiser-class ships.

As Adam saw the area that was highlighted, he suddenly had Spector Unit 6 turn and head towards it.

[HackerSu (Trillion): Why is he heading towards the highlighted area? Pretty sure he should stay away from it since it's about to be hit with a main cannon's attack.]

[NonpareilRaphilia (Aaru): He probably plans to finish the cruiser-class off if the Imperial Down's main cannon misses again.]

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Why not use the micro force lance again?]

[Superior4horns (Vinox 3): Idiot. The force lance on the streamer's ship needs 15 minutes to cool down after use. Do you really think the miniaturised one won't work with that amount of power?]

[MercheadAnderson (Palaxia): Maybe he plans to use the energy launcher when the cruiser-class's shields are down.]

"The TISF Imperial Down is firing," Spector announced just as the Imperial Down's front opened up to reveal its main cannon, from which an enormous energy beam erupted.

Spector Unit 6 flashed past the cruiser-class ship before turning in space and coming to a stop, after which it raised its arms as sections opened up to reveal the beam cancelers.

[LadyErkath (Alastor): He plans to absorb the main beam after it hits the cruiser-class. 😯]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Clever boy. Doing that will allow him to replenish some of the NDS energy and let him keep it active longer.]

The cruiser-class ship tried to evade the Imperial Down's main cannon, but because it was now so much closer than before, it was unable to and was directly hit.

The cruiser-class' shields were quickly overwhelmed, allowing the enormous energy beam to wash over it and destroy it before the energy beam continued on towards Spector Unit 6.

As the energy beam was about to hit it, the beam cancelers began to quickly absorb it and recharge the Neurolink Deployment System's energy.

After the beam canceler finished absorbing the main cannon attack, Adam had Spector Unit 6 streak back towards the enemy mechs and fighters that were still approaching the Imperial Down.

[NonpareilRaphilia (Aaru): That ability to absorb energy even while the NDS is active to recharge it is so broken. With that, he can theoretically keep the NDS active as long as the enemy is foolish enough to fire their energy weapons at him.]

[Whostolemyduck (Earth): So, there's something I've been wondering about regarding the NDS. Why doesn't he just use his drones to attack himself and then absorb the attacks to charge the NDS?]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): This thought did cross my mind and the only reason I could think of to explain this is that even with all its advanced technology, the streamer, his ship and his tech still suffer from natural energy degradation.]

[Whostolemyduck (Earth): Natural energy degradation, what's that?]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): It's a natural rule of the universe that everything with energy has to abide by.

I suppose the best example to use, since you already know about them, would be Diva Rowena and the Brood. The Brood need to feed on the blood of other races in order to survive, but have you never wondered why they don't feed from another Brood?]

[Celebrityhunter69 (Earth): Wait, that's a thing? The Brood can't feed on the blood of another Brood?]

[LadyErkath (Alastor): They cannot. In fact, it's the same reason why the Succuba race had to mate with the Nagareen race in order to survive before they achieved space travel.

A Brood's body can not absorb the energy from another Brood's blood; in fact, if they attempt to force the action and feed on too much Brood blood, the energy will overwhelm and kill them since it was not absorbed.]

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): And it's the same for Succuba, except with sperm instead of blood?]

[LadyErkath (Alastor): Correct.]

[Whostolemyduck (Earth): So what you're implying is that if the streamers' mech attempted to absorb the energy bolts from its mech, it could end up being destroyed.]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): That's right. Most likely from energy overload.]

[Justiceistruth (Earth): Then why not absorb the attacks of his ship?]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Do I really need to answer that stupid question? 😮‍💨]
