Chapter 4 - Chapter- IV. Emperor

The Emperor-breed did not run. Creatures like it had never needed to learn how.

It came over the ridge the way a storm comes over a mountain — not fast, but with the total certainty of something that has never once considered stopping. Each step crushed the pale dead trees beneath it as though they were dry grass. Its body defied easy categorisation: it was enormous, somewhere between quadrupedal and something that had more limbs than any living thing needed, and its hide shifted between states — solid, semi-translucent, and something in between that Raiden's eyes refused to process correctly.

His Super System was running calculations. For the first time since the registration crystal, it was running them slowly.

Target: Emperor-breed Demetron

Classification: Primal sub-type · Emperor variant

Level: ??? (beyond current system measurement range)

Estimated minimum level: 90+

God Style analysis: Precision mode struggling — target morphology too complex for standard damage mapping.

Recommendation: Disengage immediately.

Note: Emperor-breeds do not pursue randomly. This entity has tracked your Super System signature for 96 hours. It came here deliberately.

"Raiden," Jester said, his voice stripped of all its usual lightness. "Talk to me."

"It's level-capped my system's measurement."

"Which means?"

"Which means it's at least ninety levels above us."

Jester absorbed this. Behind them, the tamed Abyss-breed had pressed low to the ground — not in submission but in the instinctive crouch of an animal that recognises something apex. Even a level thirty-four Corrupted Demetron understood what it was looking at.

"Options?" Jester asked.

"Run toward the dome. It will follow — but the barrier enchantment might buy time."

"Might."

"Or we don't run."

A pause that lasted exactly as long as Jester needed to process that.

"You want to fight a level ninety-plus Emperor-breed," Jester said, "on day four."

"Not fight. Understand." Raiden had not moved his eyes from the creature. "It didn't come here to kill us. My system said it tracked my signature. Emperor-breeds are Primal sub-type — my system file says Primal-category Demetrons have rudimentary intelligence structures. It wanted to find me."

The Emperor-breed stopped twenty metres from them. It was so large that stopping still felt like an event — the air pressure shifted, the ground settled, the world rearranged itself around the fact of its presence.

It lowered its head.

Not to charge. Something else. Something slower.

Raiden's Super System flickered — and then, in the space where combat metrics had been, displayed something it had never displayed before:
