Chapter 471 - Chapter 20: Prelude

How long had it been?

Sū ěr looked at the blonde beauty before him in a daze. How long had it been since he had seen Think fair skin and a physical body in reality?

No longer a translucent energy form, but exactly as she used to be when she accompanied him.

Even without the signature long ears and magnificent pupils, the smiling human before him was more "Elf" than an actual Elf. A slight blush tinted her cheeks, making her already beautiful face even more endearing—like a plum blossom set against white snow, elegant and refined.

Then Sū ěr ear was violently yanked.

"OW OW OW OW OW!!!"

He screamed instantly. Sū ěr couldn't help but twist his neck and stand on his tiptoes, leaning toward the direction of the "evil hand" just to lessen the pain. He wasn't acting to trigger Think pity; Lady Nirvalen was dead serious!

Sū ěr felt like his ear was actually about to be ripped off; even the side of his brain began to throb.

"You're still looking?!"

"I'm not looking, I'm not looking!!! Let go! I really won't look anymore!!!"

He wished he could poke his own eyes out right then to show his resolve, just to get Think to release his ear. Sū ěr voice even cracked as he shouted.

Without a doubt, this "Think" with fair skin and no Elven traits was Jibril in disguise. Only a Flügel, who was intimately familiar with Think after years of bickering and knew her personality and habits, could pull off such a perfect imitation, right down to the small, habitual movements.

Similarly, only Jibril, an energy lifeform, could change her appearance so easily. For the Flügel, appearance and gender were simply matters of shifting energy. If Sū ěr liked men, Jibril could turn into one in an instant—though Sū ěr definitely didn't like men.

Form was a convenient thing for a Flügel. Jibril had remained in her child-like form only because her energy wasn't enough to sustain her full body and mind, so she hadn't bothered with such useless things. However, if she wanted to return to her previous form, it was still easy for her.

Like today, for instance.

"Hey! Let go of him!"

While Sū ěr was begging for mercy, the "Think" with fair skin and an angry expression marched over, distinct from the translucent, long-eared Think pulling his ear. She swiped at the hand gripping Sū ěr ear, but the real Think nimbly dodged.

"See! I told you that you should listen to me. How can you not get hurt when you're with a guy like this?!"

Four parts anger, three parts mockery, two parts pity, one part accusation. When such an expression accompanied such words on that face, not only Sū ěr, but Think herself was momentarily stunned. The reason was simple: it was too accurate.

That was exactly what Think would say!

That was the reaction she would have upon seeing Sū ěr do something reckless or against her advice!

Involuntarily checking the connection in his soul once more to see if the tethered life was in front of him or beside him, Sū ěr felt completely numb.

"You vulgar beast, how dare you imitate me!!!"

The curse was venomous!

Think was absolutely fuming. What enraged her most wasn't just Jibril changing her appearance, but that the brainless bird-woman could mimic her words, expressions, and movements so perfectly!

In fact, if she were in the same situation, those were the exact words she would likely use!

Is this something that brainless creature is capable of?!

That reckless idiot can imitate me this well?!

Just how well does she know me?!!

As if she had just taken a bite of something disgusting, Think felt even worse after coming to this conclusion. She would rather see Jibril fail miserably at imitating her and be called out by Sū ěr than see this man confused, checking the soul bond multiple times for the truth.

I can feel it, you know!!!

"Ha? Vulgar beast? Who's the loser without even a body?"

"Change back!!"

"No! I won't!!"

"..."

The room that had just been cleaned was a disaster zone again, looking like a tornado had hit it. Watching the two of them butt heads like territorial rhinos, and seeing the jars and bottles scattered at his feet, Sū ěr was reminded of cats he once owned.

Whenever they saw something on a table or cabinet, they couldn't help but bat at it until it fell. Even if they couldn't move it, they'd try their hardest.

Think and "Think" were like two cats now; anything they could grab was a weapon.

"Here, want one?" Emerging silently from the shadows beside Sū ěr, the blonde vampire Kiss-shot had gradually opened up during her stay, becoming more talkative. She held out a hand containing a donut.

Although the vampire had grown quite a bit after recovering some of her limbs, her head still barely reached Sū ěr waist. To be honest, taking the donut from her hand made Sū ěr feel like he was stealing a snack from a child—even though he knew she was actually older than he was.

"No thanks, you eat it," Sū ěr waved her off, then sighed at the two whose shouting match was escalating.

It seemed that before they reached a resolution, the date was off.

Left with no choice, Sū ěr pulled over a small stool and sat down.

"What a shame. Someone who can't appreciate a donut will never come to a good end, you know?"

While speaking, Kiss-shot quickly retracted her hand and took a large bite out of the donut.
