"By my side, I have Senpai, Dr. Roman, Miss Da Vinci, and everyone at Chaldea."
"And of course, the Heroic Spirits I've met across various Singularities. With all of you by my side, I'm not afraid of anything."
"After all, the most important thing I've learned on this journey is to be strong."
Listening to Mash's determination, Shirou Emiya's eyes softened with admiration. She truly was Chaldea's beloved, so cherished that even Demon God King Goetia had once sought to claim her for his own, to let her live eternally. The thought made Shirou Emiya pause for a moment. Then he said, steady and sudden,
"Mash, I might have a way for you to live."
"What?"
"Really?"
"How?"
Mash's eyes darted toward Fujimaru Ritsuka, Merlin, and Ana, who had appeared silently on the rooftop. "Senpai... were you all listening in?" she asked, confused.
Her question, though loud, went unanswered. All eyes were fixed on Shirou Emiya.
"Senpai Shirou... can you really save Mash?"
Fujimaru Ritsuka gripped Shirou Emiya's hands tightly. Her voice was edged with excitement, tinged with panic. As the last Master of humanity, she had relied on Mash countless times, and the thought of losing her was unbearable.
Earlier that night, not long after returning to her room, Fujimaru Ritsuka had been unable to sleep. She decided to check on Mash, only to find her room empty. After some searching, she spotted Merlin peeking toward the rooftop and Ana feigning disinterest while listening intently. It didn't take long for her to realize: they were eavesdropping.
And on whom? There was no question. Besides the three of them, only two others lived in the building. No one would talk to themselves up there.
Concerned for her friend, Fujimaru Ritsuka had joined the rooftop surveillance. And what she heard astonished her. Shirou Emiya had a way to save Mash.
So she rushed forward, voice urgent. Not just her-Merlin nearby and Roman far away in Chaldea showed the same tension. Roman, as Mash's doctor, longed for her survival, and Merlin, ever pragmatic about the path ahead, knew that failure was not an option.
"Perhaps there is a way."
Shirou Emiya's voice was calm, measured, though his gaze swept over the eager faces before him.
"What do you mean by 'perhaps'?"
"Is the probability of success low?"
Roman's voice crackled from Chaldea, anxious.
"No. I've considered two methods. Both should work in theory. But due to various circumstances, implementation might be difficult."
"Please, tell us, Mr. Shirou Emiya! No matter how hard, we'll find a way to overcome it."
"I understand." Shirou Emiya's tone hardened slightly, reflecting his seriousness. "The first method is... to change bodies."
"Change bodies?" Fujimaru Ritsuka's eyes widened.
"That's right. Change bodies."
"In the Clock Tower, there's a Crown-ranked Magus named Aozaki Touko. Her research in puppet technology has reached an unprecedented level. The puppets she creates are indistinguishable from the original person. They can completely replace the body. With this technique, one becomes essentially unkillable."
"And my technique is learned from her. What she can do, I can also do. Using materials we have in Uruk, I can create a perfect puppet body for Mash. In this way, she can escape her short lifespan and live as a normal human."
A wave of relief and excitement rippled through the group.
"But..."
"But?" The happiness of everyone present halted abruptly. Memories of Shirou Emiya's next words returned, sobering their minds.
"But what, Senpai Shirou?"
Shirou Emiya looked helpless. "But in that case, Mash would lose her Demi-Servant powers. She would become an ordinary person. Forget the impact on Chaldea-Mash herself wouldn't agree to it."
"I disagree!"
"...agree."
Before Shirou Emiya could finish, Mash's voice cut through firmly.
"Mash!"
"Please, don't say anymore, Senpai!" Mash's gaze locked on Fujimaru Ritsuka, unyielding. "We've faced countless difficulties together. Now, the responsibility we carry is heavier than ever. This is the crucial moment for saving humanity. Chaldea cannot lose my power, cannot lose my shield. I will walk to the very end with Senpai. I will never run halfway."
Fujimaru Ritsuka could not argue. Mash's resolve was absolute, and silence fell over the rooftop.
Far away, Roman spoke into the device from Chaldea. "What about the other method, Mr. Shirou Emiya? You must have known Mash wouldn't accept the first method. So the uncertain one must be the second."
"As expected of Dr. Roman. Correct." Shirou Emiya acknowledged, voice steady.
"The second method... do you remember what I told you about the world of Orario?"
"You mean the Dungeon, the Familia, and the Divine Blessing?"
"That's right. The other method is Divine Blessing."
Shirou Emiya's examination had revealed the truth: Mash's problem was cellular. Compared to ordinary humans, her cellular activity was weak. Her cells divided fewer times, resulting in a shortened lifespan. The added strain of Heroic Spirit powers only worsened the condition. Magic alone could not fix it. A perfect human birth could only be influenced by the Authority of the gods.
Shirou Emiya considered various solutions: the panacea of the DanMachi world and Rimuru's world. But the first healed only injuries, and the second restored limbs based on replicating the original owner's body. Mash's original body information was precisely her current, weakened state.
Then a thought struck him: if her cellular vitality was poor, could he stimulate her cells directly?
Divine Blessing.
Its essence was activating the latent potential of the human body. If his own body, now capable of contending with gods, could harness such power, perhaps Mash's cells could too. From this perspective, Divine Blessing was tailor-made for her.
