The Siege Begins
The swarm of creatures quickly mobilized. Vlad, arriving at the frontline, immediately sent out his daggers to kill everything on sight. His blood expanded, raining down blood wolves that killed creatures everywhere. Vlad's blood spikes pierced through many of them, yet the hordes never stopped. They kept moving with never-ending numbers.
Azrael and Johan stood before the hordes as they approached fast. Different creatures—goblins, giants, wyverns, and beasts—swarmed the field. Azrael swung his scythe, sending out blood slices into the hordes. In quick succession, Azrael blitzed through, killing hundreds in multiple slices. As the swarm overwhelmed and surrounded Azrael, his weapon grew stronger, absorbing the blood of the creatures he killed. Johan's invisible hands smashed through creatures within his radius. As he stood there, no creature could get close to him. As he walked forward, the creatures were pushed back as blood splattered everywhere.
The swarm, however, broke through both Azrael and Johan, climbing up the walls of the civilization like a swarm of bugs. Destruction followed as a giant kicked through the walls, and many more creatures swarmed into the civilization.
The Ritual and The Revelation
Meanwhile, in the shielded location, Adam held the Hands of Death with the Lich King as his life force was being drained to power the resurrection spell.
"Arggh!!" Adam screamed as he felt like his life was being taken away from him. He focused on his breathing as Lyra helped to remind him to focus, just as he did when releasing his mana.
"If you lose consciousness, your life may be at risk! Focus on your breathing," Lyra kept telling Adam via neuro-link.
Serbas was laying down, constrained by Lyra's spears. Lyra looked at Serbas. "Adam is using his life force to bring your family back. Why are you still insisting on taking the lives of thousands of other humans? Your family will be revived. You can stop the creatures from attacking!" Lyra tried to reason with Serbas.
"That will be his mistake," Serbas said, looking directly into Lyra's eyes. "All of you don't understand what is going to happen." Serbas said with a threatening voice.
"What do you mean? Tell us what you know and are hiding from us?!" Lyra demanded.
"It is a matter of time. I will be free from this and save my family," Serbas said as he smiled chillingly at Lyra.
As the hordes wrecked the buildings and farmlands, Azrael looked in disbelief at the sheer number of them rushing through. Vlad was still wary, knowing the stronger demons weren't anywhere in sight, while the lesser creatures continued to swarm the civilization. Johan worried for his family's safety but felt unable to do anything against this many creatures. A dragon appeared in the sky, and its fiery breath tore through the buildings.
Out of a sudden, a spear of thunder burst into the sky, piercing the dragon's wings. Arrows of light flew through the air, piercing the dragon's body. The attacks were coming from inside the civilization. A huge wave of water flooded the city, submerging the creatures as lightning rained down from the skies, hitting the water and killing thousands of creatures.
Azrael, Johan, and Vlad were surprised by the sudden, massive pushback inside the civilization. Vlad's blood went into the sky, and his eye opened to see humans with advanced skills and abilities fighting back. Azrael realized the 45 human warriors who stood with them before had finally awakened. They had reached a new evolution.
One of the human heroes jumped through the skies, slashing the dragon's head cleanly off with a burst of power. Many more attacks exploded in multiple elements throughout the cities as the creatures were pushed back, their bodies left wasted on the floor. A tree grew in the middle of the city, its vines moving quickly, piercing through multiple creatures. The vines pierced through the giants, creeping and tightening around their bodies. Another hero flew through the sky, unleashing a freezing wind that restricted the wings of wyverns and other airborne creatures. The creatures dropped into the cities, and elemental arrows rained down onto them.
"This is not good, they are unleashing too much mana since their awakening. They will exhaust themselves and be killed," Azrael spoke urgently via neuro-link.
Vlad quickly sent out blood hounds, raining down in the heroes' location, and killed the creatures in their vicinity. Vlad arrived, taking out vials of mana potion and telling the warriors to take them to replenish their mana.
As the creatures continued their relentless assault, one of the heroes created a huge barrier dome, as another used healing magic to heal everyone from wounds and fatigue. Everyone quickly took the mana potions and drank them as the creatures piled onto the barrier.
Serbas's Escape
Meanwhile, in the other location, Lyra's body suddenly stiffened, unable to move. Jennifer walked into her vision, her mouth mumbling a control spell. Serbas smiled as his demons arrived to free him from his binding.
"Lyra, remove the bind from Serbas," Jennifer commanded.
As Lyra's body moved by itself, her hands moved toward the binding spell. Using her precise mana manipulation and her knowledge of the binding spell's structure (which she had helped Adam decipher), she unlocked the seal from Serbas, fully controlled by Jennifer's command. It takes a toll on Lyra's body to remove the seal as the mana poisoning crept into Lyra's body. Lyra slowly breathe trying to regulate the mana flow.
Serbas stood up, looking at the other demons kneeling before him. "It is time to execute Plan B," Serbas said, grinning in victory.
