Chapter 401: Leone's Wish—The Little Devil's Wallet
A faint glow lit up in Fang Yi's palm, forming a shimmering bubble of light, almost like a soap bubble.
"Imperial Arms user?"
Leone's smooth, pale legs tensed up immediately as she instinctively pulled back, widening the distance between herself and Fang Yi.
Her eyes sharpened with caution, watching the smiling, seemingly harmless man.
This world, still stuck in a medieval setting, occasionally displayed out-of-place firearms and technology due to the interference of supernatural materials.
But at its core, it remained a world dominated by ordinary humans.
To produce light in one's hand was clearly an act of supernatural power—
something only users of Imperial Arms or Ministerial Arms could accomplish.
And every Imperial Arms user was extremely dangerous.
Leone cursed inwardly.
She was a top assassin from Night Raid, yet she hadn't sensed anything strange about this man—
and had allowed herself to get this close.
If Fang Yi had attacked her by surprise, she might've been seriously injured, or even killed.
Even though she was the bearer of Lion King: Beast Transformation, an Imperial Arm that granted her immense regeneration,
if her head were cut off, not even that could save her.
Fang Yi showed no particular reaction to her wariness.
He simply smiled and said, "I'm not an Imperial Arms user."
Yes, Imperial Arms were powerful—
but they required compatibility with the wielder.
Among the forty-eight Imperial Arms of this world, not one likely matched his nature.
Pop.
The shimmering bubble in his palm burst.
Inside was a palm-sized, soft leather wallet with a faintly scaled texture—
and it was a lovely golden color.
"Magic?"
Leone kept a two-meter distance, leaning forward to get a better look at the wallet in Fang Yi's hand.
Judging by its appearance, it seemed completely ordinary.
Fang Yi nodded. "That's a fair way to put it."
[Little Devil's Wallet]: A wallet that can endlessly produce gold coins. In exchange, an equivalent price must be paid.
Crafted from the tanned hide of an abyssal imp, it's a contract wallet containing the soul of a little devil holding a balance scale.
The holder can trade with it.
In supernatural Western worlds, these little devils often left such wallets on roadsides,
waiting for the greedy to make deals.
This wallet—
Fang Yi had already removed the devil's soul and turned it into something akin to a contract parchment.
The price Leone would pay for gold would go to Fang Yi, not the devil.
"Damn, you gave me a scare. No wonder you dared to walk into the capital alone."
Leone tried to joke as she cautiously examined him again, relaxing only after confirming he truly wasn't an Imperial Arms user.
Outside the capital, Danger Beasts weren't everywhere, but they were common enough.
Someone like Fang Yi, calling himself a traveling game merchant, would naturally develop a few self-defense tricks.
As long as he wasn't an Imperial Arms user…
Whenever one used an Imperial Arm, a unique energy fluctuation would occur. Leone hadn't sensed any such power from Fang Yi.
After all, this world's World Core guaranteed that apart from Imperial Arms, no stronger supernatural powers could exist.
So Leone had absolute confidence in Imperial Arms—
not just her, but everyone in this world shared that belief.
Knowing Fang Yi wasn't a user,
she figured no matter what tricks he tried, she could escape safely if needed.
With that, Leone regained her confidence.
She smirked and said, "Hey, don't try to con me with some ordinary wallet. I've touched more wallets than you've seen!"
This sort of street magician act might work on common folk.
But she was a top assassin—and a part-time con artist.
She stepped forward and reached for the wallet—
but Fang Yi pulled it away.
"Sorry, customer. I'm not a wish-granting machine—I'm a merchant."
Still smiling politely, he added, "If you want to buy the coin wallet, you'll need to pay an equivalent price."
"But I don't have any money!"
Leone froze, then shrugged.
All her money was at the Night Raid base. She'd only just left when she ran into Fang Yi, and hadn't earned anything yet.
Besides, even if she had money, she wouldn't spend it.
After all, she'd protected Fang Yi this whole way.
He looked like someone who'd never done a day of hard work in his life. She hadn't even charged him for protection yet!
And this wasn't extortion—
if she'd just let him wander around the capital like that,
he'd probably be in serious trouble by now.
"Then leave a deposit."
Fang Yi's smile grew as his eyes moved to her Imperial Arms belt.
He hadn't come to this world to collect Imperial Arms,
but if one fell into his lap, he certainly wouldn't mind.
"You perverted merchant!"
Leone clearly misunderstood. Her face twisted in disgust.
"Just you wait—when I expose your scam, I'm going to beat you black and blue!"
She wasn't shy by nature.
They were near the capital's edge, where several buildings had been abandoned.
She darted into one and quickly returned—
holding the black shorts she'd just been wearing.
She had swapped into a fresh pair.
"Here."
The shorts were still warm. She handed them over with a cold sneer.
Night Raid always gathers evidence.
Once I beat him up and take his wallet, it'll count as payment for his perverted stare.
Fang Yi stared at the shorts in her soft, pale hand and didn't take them. He was speechless.
You really don't hold back, huh?
Seeing his expression, Leone became suspicious. "Don't push your luck—what, do you want my underwear too?"
"I'm not interested in my customers' clothing."
The Imperial Arms belt was still attached to the shorts.
Fang Yi shook his head and said, "Since you've agreed... the contract is sealed."
Without touching the still-warm shorts,
he gently waved his hand.
The Little Devil's Wallet floated into the air,
landing softly on the back of Leone's right hand—where it left behind a glowing coin symbol.
"More magic?"
Leone flinched like a startled leopard, nearly attacking him—
but stopped when she sensed no danger.
She raised her hand and stared at the symbol, frowning.
She tried to wipe it off—
but it wouldn't budge.
"From now on, if you wish it, your right hand will produce gold coins."
Fang Yi explained,
"But like I said—each coin comes at a price."
"The original little devils collected pain. Falling, hitting walls, getting hurt—those were traded for coins."
"But since you're trading with me,
you can pay with anything: knowledge, lifespan, wisdom, strength—even your soul."
His tone was casual,
but Leone's expression grew increasingly grim.
There was something... off.
He didn't sound like he was bluffing at all.
Trying to keep it light, Leone joked,
"You must've been to a lot of places.
Even I've gotta admit—your act is impressive."
But then—she froze.
Unconsciously, her left hand had rubbed the mark on her right hand.
And then… she heard it.
The crisp, familiar clink of metal coins colliding—
beautiful, musical, unmistakable.
She opened her palm.
Two coin-sized golden discs rested quietly in the center of her hand.
"Gold coins?!"
