Chapter 432: The Demon Sorcerer
Black, turtle-like skin, solid double horns, a mountain-sized body.
[Two-Horned Demon Lv.26 (Elite)] — A common monster in the Lava Hell area of the first floor of the Tower of Death, demon-type, special move: Demon Horns.
"Die for me!"
Rather than fear, the Slippery Serpent was delighted.
It had been hoping to test whether the information about the Reincarnation Game in its mind was true.
And this demon was like a pillow offered to a sleepy soul—perfect timing.
Though ugly, the Slippery Serpent wasn't intimidated.
In the aquatic world, grotesque appearances were all too common—even its own wasn't any better.
Snap!
Its slender soul lashed out like a whip, coiling around the Two-Horned Demon's neck.
The demon couldn't even resist.
Its special skill, [Demon Horns], required it to twist its neck and charge with its horns—but now it could barely breathe.
Crack!
With ease, the Slippery Serpent twisted and broke its opponent's neck.
It had done this countless times before—
the Three-Headed Phoenix, the giant ray that called it "Big Brother," the fat catfish, the lobster twins—nearly all of them had been strangled by its coils.
Any creature that dared stand in its way had to die.
Shing.
The demon's body vanished, replaced by a green treasure chest.
The Slippery Serpent slithered over eagerly and flicked the lid open with its tail.
Inside—
a mass of gray-black gas, like smoke rising from a chimney.
"What is this? Are you mocking me?"
Just as it was about to get angry, its tail whipped the box—and accidentally touched the smoke.
[Low-Grade Dragon Qi (Material)]: The lowest tier of dragon essence in the multiverse. Can be used to craft the item [Low-Grade True Dragon (Bloodline)] or consumed directly for temporary dragon transformation.
Two-Horned Demons weren't trash mobs.
Though common, they were elite-class monsters in the shallows of Lava Hell, and their horns were equivalent to blue-grade equipment.
But this one had been instantly killed by the Slippery Serpent due to its overwhelming strength.
So the treasure chest drop naturally wasn't bad.
"So good… so soothing!"
The smoky dragon essence was instantly absorbed.
The Slippery Serpent rolled around on the ground in bliss, feeling its parched soul moistened by divine nectar.
Even the itchiness tormenting it was temporarily eased.
The curse of the True Dragon—
was really just a backlash from residual dragon essence.
The dragon horns held fragments of the True Dragon's instincts.
They rejected imposters who tried to wield them.
Anyone unworthy would be devoured by this residual energy.
The Slippery Serpent, for all its strength, was still just a serpent.
It could never fully withstand that curse.
But this drop—Low-Grade Dragon Qi—though weak, was genuine.
And genuine dragon essence could counteract the curse.
Far better than the sting and itch of thorn-blossoms.
"Dragon Qi… The essence to become a dragon?!"
The Slippery Serpent froze, stunned.
Then it read the item description again and immediately regretted absorbing it so casually.
Its bulging eyes almost popped out.
A real dragon!
Even after ruling vast stretches of the ocean world and claiming the dragon horns,
it had failed to cross the Dragon Gate and ascend.
But now?
All it had to do was kill more of these ugly demons… and it might truly evolve?
The serpent's eyes filled with bloodlust and madness.
"I am a True Dragon! I will become a True Dragon!"
…
"Such stubborn obsession."
Fang Yi smiled in satisfaction,
watching the Slippery Serpent wildly thrashing its tail, hunting monsters across the Lava Hell.
Randomly distributed invitation scrolls weren't limited to good people.
Even world-destroying monsters could answer the call of the Reincarnation Game.
The Slippery Serpent came from the Aquatic Realm—
it should have died at the hands of Bubble and her friends.
But its powerful will to survive triggered a Game invite.
Still—
even the lowest True Dragon of a minor world embodied the distilled essence of creation.
A real dragon bloodline was rarer than most gold-grade gear.
While [Low-Grade Dragon Qi (Material)] technically had a chance to evolve into a full dragon bloodline,
the odds were infinitesimally low—so low they were almost negligible.
Unless it could obtain hundreds or thousands of medium- or high-grade Dragon Qi, its chances of transforming were microscopic.
Hopefully, the Slippery Serpent's ambition was strong enough to carry it through.
Back at Moonlight Tavern—
Akainu's lips curled into a smile, his excitement barely contained.
"Victory will belong to the Navy Alliance."
The Slippery Serpent was performing exceptionally.
Since all monsters scaled to match the player's level,
this elite-rank creature was about its strength.
Yet it had been one-shotted.
"Don't celebrate too early."
Tsunade frowned slightly.
The Slippery Serpent was indeed powerful—roughly equivalent to a Tier 2 Level 25 player.
What's more, its venomous soul power hadn't even been used yet.
If it went all out, it might even be able to kill a lord-tier boss.
No wonder Akainu was so cocky.
"Levi? We've already gathered intel on him."
When Tsunade countered him, Akainu sneered.
"He's called humanity's strongest soldier in the Titan world? Sounds impressive—but his real abilities are nothing special."
He relied on something called a [Vertical Maneuvering Gear].
Physically, he wasn't very strong.
The Navy's intel division had even tested the equipment themselves—
deeming it impractical. It only worked well against slow-moving enemies.
But just as he said that—
Deep in the misty forest,
Levi flew through scattered tree limbs like the wind using his gear.
A cat-beast known for agility didn't even get the chance to dodge before it was decapitated cleanly.
Tsunade laughed, finishing her mug of barley ale.
"Looks like your Navy intel isn't so reliable after all."
Akainu's face darkened. He stayed silent.
"Look—it's that bronze dragon head shield!"
On the first floor of the Moonlight Tavern, where most regular players hung out,
one shouted in surprise.
On the screen, from the bronze dragon disc's point of view,
it was quickly closing in on a nearby player.
In the next moment, both vanished.
Then—
The well-dressed man (who looked like a noble from the Claymore world) stood frozen, eyes vacant.
The bronze dragon disc's eyes glowed red. It muttered:
"No one can deceive a demon—especially not a Demon Sorcerer."
"Is this real?"
"Or is it another illusion cooked up by that damned Jackie Chan and that fan-waving geezer from the antique shop?"
The disc took full control of the noble's mind,
completely dominating his spirit.
A faint dragon-shaped silhouette rose from the back of the man's head—
a sign he was now fully possessed by the disc.
It called itself Shengzhu (The Holy Lord).
Once one of the eight demon kings who ruled the ancient world—
the most powerful of the fire demons.
Due to a series of accidents,
it had been sealed into a statue, scattered to the mortal realm.
Its twelve power-sealing talismans were lost across the globe.
Recently, it had begun manipulating foolish mobsters into retrieving the talismans,
and had nearly succeeded—
until it was stopped by someone named Jackie Chan.
"If it's magic, there's always a weakness.
Then I'll play your game, Jackie Chan!"
Now controlling the nobleman,
Shengzhu made its way toward the Sky Fortress ascending into the sky.
"Hm… such dense demonic energy?"
